Oxycontin kidney

Common Questions and Answers about Oxycontin kidney

oxycontin

Avatar f tn s absolutely possible. It sounds like she was comatose! Oxycontin causes low blood pressure. Too much will,of course, cause a very big drop in blood pressure. In turn, kidneys don't get enough blood supply(along with other organs) and will have trouble functioning properly. Who are the "they" that gave her the oxycontin? Speak to the doctors caring for her now and ask them to explain all this to you. Just my opinion but oxycontin is a bit of overkill for gout!
Avatar m tn well my story started last year with a shooting pain in my back which turned out to be a kidney stone. this little bugger was just below the size they choose to go in after so I spent 8 agonizing weeks trying to get rid of it myself which i did but not without being prescribed first percocets then an ambitiously older doctor decided to put me on two 60 miligram slow release morphine tablets a day for three weeks.
539841 tn?1235394722 I have a standing order with a pain management dr that gives me oxycontin 40mgs 4 x per day for gout pain that comes from the kidney ailment among other things. I will not lie- I usually munch them up at the beggining of each day. makes me feel happy for about 5 to 6 hours. I know this is addict behaviour. I am an addict. I will not dare tell my dr this.
Avatar f tn The pain was getting worse and worse because the kidney was free floating in the abdomen and the urinary lines were being pulled on I was moved up to 80mg of oxycontin 3 times daily. I had surgery June 2010 to have my kidney tacked back into place. Stayed in hospital for over a week, they couldnt control my pain because on my own I was on oxy's and they were trying to treat my post operative pain with 1mg of morphine. HA.
Avatar f tn She has been ordered to go cold turky on the oxycontin because there is signs of liver and kidney damage. They wont operate on her for her pain till she loses a bit of weight. She is doing her best to lose weight but it is hard as she can not move much. Could someone please tell me what the actual with drawal affects are of going straight off Oxycontin and how long does it take to get out of your system.
Avatar n tn I had a few questions about the withdrawal symptoms of OxyContin. I had used it (smoking and inhaling) for about 2 months starting at around 20mg a day, peaking at about 80-120mg a day and then weaning off down to 20mg again. I saw a doctor about detox and there wasn't much help there. I realize that my usage was very minimal over a long period but I still experienced withdrawals. its been about a month now and I am noticing pimple-like rashes mainly on my legs but slowly spreading upwards.
Avatar m tn At the beginning of pain treatment (of which I will post my history following my question) starting with Percocet, to which my body did not like the acetaminophen, then 10mg of rapid release OxyContin, to 20mg rapid release, then switching to Oxyneo 20mg twice daily. (Percocet and OxyContin were as needed) and NOW I'm taking the 30mg Oxyneo twice daily or every 12 hours.
Avatar m tn I recently ****** up like an idiot and after a kidney infection was prescribed methadone 5mgs pills. I took about 40 mg a day for about 2 wks. Anyhow before that I had been on subutex maitnence and was doing great. Well a couple days ago I took my subutex a day after the meth was gone and went into precipitated w/d so bad. My doc being cool put my on oxycodone for about a week and a half to try and knock back the w/d symptoms.
Avatar f tn It's a long story, and what I want to find out what the effects on the brain and other organs from long tern use of oxycontin. I can't seem to find any information about this on the internet. My husband had his first neck surgery in 1990 and after that more neck surgery, 2 knee replacements, and a shoulder replacement. He was prescribed oxycontin and has been taking it since then. He is now 70 and I just wonder if some of his problems are old age or from the drugs.
Avatar m tn The doc started giving it to me for my polycystic kidney disease and it never stopped. You must TELL a loved one that you will be sick for a while and explain to them that you WILL NEED HELP. I was down for more than a week with an upset stomach, shaking hands and a terrible emptiness in my soul that needed the drug. But with my husbands help, (he fed me, helped me sleep, rubbed my back) a lot of Gatorade and time to heal I was able to pull through without going to the E.R.
Avatar m tn The Oxycontin 20mg is a long acting medication that is taken usually twice a day, the oxycodone is an immediate release medication for fast relief of breakthrough pain. Its very common to be prescribed both a long acting med and a short acting med. The Marinol, i would say is more for the nerve pain, which is probably why he is still on the oxy meds. I hope that helps some. Good luck!
Avatar f tn While I was pregnant I had kidney stones and a kidney infection. I ended up having a miscarriage at 8 weeks, and that was 2 weeks ago today. I went to the hospital last night with horrible kidney pain that went through to my abdomen and they did a CT scan and said I had kidney stones, a bladder infection and that the cyst on my ovaries from 4 months ago had grown to about 3.2. What is causing this? And what should I do about it? Are any of these things related? Should I worry about the cyst?
Avatar f tn I have a nerve block on November 29th. It lasted 5 weeks. during this time I started getting pain in my kidney. I have a history of stones. Avatar m tn She need to adjust her diet to fix her labs. The only lab you should worry about is her ANA. if her kidney functions and liver functions are okay, just adjust her diet and make sure she hydrates very well. She needs to put up a firewall of hydration to protect her kidneys. Also when faced with the choice of immuno blockers or pain meds, take the pain meds.
Avatar n tn I went to rehab was doing great for a few years until my chronic kidney stones began acting up. I was sent to a pain management doctor who put me on 40mg oxycontin and 5mg oxycodone. I knew this was a bad idea, but I went with it. Up until 2 days ago I was taking 120mg of oxycontin a day on top of the others. My insurance quit paying for them this year and a script costs almost $600.00. I ran out and stopped. I upped my Norco intake to help w/ the detox, but it is still VERY rough.
Avatar f tn The liver and kidneys help remove Soma from the body. If you have liver or kidney disease, your healthcare provider may need to monitor your response to Soma more closely. Cheers!
Avatar m tn I am a 27 year old man. I suffer from a kidney problem, multiple kidney stones, and a tumor in my bladder. I have been percribed percocets for 8 months now. it started with 5/325 and i took them for a couple months started with 2 at a time and then nothing helped til i took 7, then 10/325 and same thing, and then 10/650. my pain was very bad and i didn't want to have to take all these meds but nothing helpped besides percocets. it got to the point i was taking 80 mg.
Avatar f tn I have been taking presciption pain meds now (for one thing or another) since September of 2007. First it was a strained back, then a broken toe, then for kidney stones, then the big one - I started getting pinched nerves in my legs because the bones in my back were out of line (spondylolisthesis between the L4, L5 and S1). I had the surgery in May of this year (2009) that essentially fused my vertibrae together using rods and screws between the L4, L5 and S1.
Avatar n tn Ten days later I was in the ER with sever cramps from the middle of my back to my ribs. The ER doctor did an IVP of my kidneys. He found kidney stones, bladder infection, and oh by the way, cancer on my spine! I spose it was there all along, just never looked for it. Anyway, had a biopsy, MRI, Bone Scan. Cancer was found in my spine, pelvis area, and imaged area of my lower extremities. I had 16 radiation treatments and am now living on oxycontin. Pain Control.
443878 tn?1205103196 Previously I had been taking 80mg of Oxycontin bid as well as 10mg of Percocet tid to control breakthrough pain. The resulting health issues were a kidney infection; bladder infection; UTI as well as severe dehydration with associative muscle cramping. My total weight loss was 60lbs.
Avatar m tn i agree with lostmakeupgirl. i also am a VALID PAIN MANAGEMENT PATIENT. i didn't think id become a junkie over oxycontin but i did. i didn't think id stoop to the lows i have done but i did. i also find it rude and non productive to tell addicts how selfish we are. and if you reread rhe post he/she is scared that we will be the reason the drug is pulled from his/her life. that is the start of addiction in itself. reread how focused fourfer is on that. and fourfer is uneducated.
Avatar m tn Is there anyone who has any tips for how to go through a bad oxycontin withdrawal? I am wondering if there are any specific foods, vitamins, activities etc. that will help shorten or relieve the inevitable withdrawals. I feel so foolish for ever getting myself addicted to these horrible things. It started when I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed years ago and the doctor gave me a prescription. Now I have been off an on them for years. I need to get my life back.
Avatar m tn Ive been taking about 100mgs of oxycontin a day for about 1.5 month now. What do i do? Quit cold turkey or taper off? I cannot take days off work.
