oxycontin

Avatar f tn Then, 2-3 years ago, I fell down some stairs, and now I have sciatica in my left leg. Yay clumsiness! So, I have a couple of herniated discs, some arthritis, plus which, the sciatica. Six years ago, I decided to try pain management. I was prescribed 30mg Roxicodone 4x a day, then about a year later put on OxyContin 80mg 2x a day, with the Roxicodone for BT. Wow.
Avatar f tn It is oxymorphone and it is strongest pain medication available in pill form based on pharmacology. The oxycodone in Oxycontin is metabolized by the liver into oxymorphone. Therefore, the Opana ER would be a drug that is very comparable to the Oxycontin, only twice as strong.
Avatar m tn I am not an expert but here is what I think. Oxycodone IR is know as OxyContin is a slow release medication. It stays in your system for at least 12 or more hours. You may achieve some of it's effect for up to 16 hours. As you take the next dose it builds on the previous doses so now you have 20mg is your system. The next dose adds another 10mg so now you have 30mg in your system and so on. Percocet is the short acting form of OxyContin and is Oxycodone with acetaminophen.
Avatar f tn Half-life means the amount of time it takes for your body to process the amount of drugs you put into it by half. Example. If you eat one 10mg oxycontin right now, the amount of time before there is only 5mg of oxycontin left in your blood is it's half-life. Some drugs are metabolized very efficiently by our liver, like oxycontin(4 hours).
Avatar f tn I've been in pain Managment for 4yrs due to stroke in 2011, I've been in oxycodone 10mg 4 a day and OxyContin 20mg 2 a day and due to other issues my pain Doc prescribed me the Fentanyl psych 25mg or mcg and took out OxyContin. Now two things.....
Avatar f tn , and let your NATURAL reward system kick in! For me, today my NATURAL happy chemicals are finally working oxycodone-oxycontin-percocet free, and I love it!
Avatar f tn I start chemo again in Sept, but in the mean time I'm suffering because my lymph nodes are pressing up against a nerve in my back. It is causing severe and constant pain from my back to my right knee and the kicker is that it hurts worse when I'm sitting or laying down, so I can hardly any sleep. They gave me Motrin and Oxycontin but it doesn't help at all. They also told me that I couldn't go to the chiropractor. Does anyone have any advice?
Avatar f tn also i am worried about it being in the babies system when i give birth can someone please tell me how long it stays in the babies system please.
Avatar f tn I'm wondering if 1 oxycontin (80mg) that my BF gives me every day to assist in my wean will help me. I am having minimal WD signs but the physical pain for which I was initially prescribed 3 Dils (8mgs each) per day by the former doc comes roaring back every morning. I am no longer on the Dilaudids.
Avatar n tn does anyone know if smoking oc is more addicting than using it in other ways? like orally or snorting?
135691 tn?1271097123 The only thing I can add to this is that I was given Percocet twice...once in the hospital, and once at home. Both times, I threw up so hard, I lost my voice. It's now in all my medical records for me not to have Oxycontin or Percocet. In fact, when I had my port taken out two weeks ago, I woke up in the recovery room with a bracelet on that had "NO PERCOCET" in big black letters. I agree with Irene.
Avatar m tn So, I have ran out of choices, plus I am under the radar throughout the tracking system in this state. I was a doc shopper. It caught up with me. I was confronted from an ER doc, he new my game as he dealt with people like me on an hourly basis. Give it a try, one day, no drug, then another and another, I am doing the same, after 12 days, its so much better, stay busy and eat and take vitamin complexes...
Avatar m tn Should he switch to oxycontin, in lue of his stomach issues? I am afraid if he stays on morphine he will have even further problems down the road. Any information regarding this matter would be GREATLY! appreciated! Thanks.
1264863 tn?1391118193 I am still pushing along on my taper schedule. Down to about half my short acting oxy. Had a question for anyone who has tapered off oxycodone and oxycontin before. So I started at 5 1/2 Oxycodone a day 15mg and 2 Oxycontin a day 30mg. I am down to 3 oxycodone and 2 oxycontin after just 20 days. Also went down on my other meds just to get them under control the first week but they have stayed the same since then.
1325672 tn?1290084214 Oxycontin is a very good pain reliever for many people, and it is extended release, so it must build up in the system to be effective...and when it has, you should hopefully have some relief:) I wish you the best!
460825 tn?1206476403 i joined here in hopes to find someone or some people who might have an idea what i might be going threw. I'm 25 and been abusing Oxycontin's for 6 years now. I have tried to cold turkey it several and i mean several times in the past few years, and now i have a 2 year old daughter and a fiance' (which i can say is totally agenst the abuse of medications, pot, alcohol ect...) but what she doesn't understand is why i relaps so much when tryin' to get off these drugs.
Avatar n tn After my youngest was born I became addicted to oxycontin. I spent two years in addiction and finally got onto suboxone. I've tapered down to 4 mgs and would like to continue to taper until I'm off it altogether in the near future. I would also like to have one more child once I get off suboxone. The question I have is how does opiate use/suboxone affect the reproductive system? Can it do damage?
Avatar m tn i disovered oxycontin tabs in my ileostomy pouch that have not disoved, the oxycontin is the slow release type and turns into gooy substance when being disolved according to FDA website. i have also found the goo type in pouch. what are alternatives to this issue ?
Avatar m tn There is also methadone but it has a tendency to build up in your system so dosing is very tricky. If you decide that methadone is a medication you want to explore, be sure that you have a physician that has extra training on how to properly dose and titrate methadone.
Avatar n tn the only thing im wondering is if the suboxone will give me bad withdrawls if i only take it for 4 to 5 days max. will all the oxycontin be out of my system so that when i stop the 1mg of suboxone i have been taking for the past 4 to 5 days so that i wont go into withdrawls all over again.
Avatar f tn Because oxycontin releases slower than oxycodone pills, you will always have enough in your system by the time your next dose is due. It's really just a matter of getting past this fear, then you can start tapering a bit more. Take your time, don't rush it. before you know it you will be down to a lower dose without realizing it. The only problem you may have is if you are managing chronic pain. You can expect your pain levels to rise as you decrease your dose.
Avatar f tn Could someone please tell me what the actual with drawal affects are of going straight off Oxycontin and how long does it take to get out of your system. I have seen the with drawal of people that have slowly cut down but not someone who actually has to give up straight away. She is devistated and in so much pain. She is only allowed Panadine forte and Nurofen plus which does nothing.
Avatar f tn Flax seed and other foods high in fiber are also very helpful to counter the effects Oxycontin has on your Gi system. It becomes very slow and sluggish, and people have a lot of problems with constipation from it. Keeping your GI system functioning normally also reduces the problems accidental withdrawal causes. If you aren't all plugged up, you don't have very much diarrhea if any at all, but the spasms are terrible and painful just the same.
Avatar n tn i cant go on it now because i get sick everytime i try becasue i have to many opiates in my system. i was wondering if you knew anything about suboxone ? what amount i should be at before i start the program ?
Avatar f tn I have been on prescribed oxycontin for 3 years. Before that it was prescribed methadone and loratab. I also have prscribed morphine. I have been taking half for two days and taking whatever is necessary to sleep. My question is can i be withdrawing from the oc's while taking morphine?
Avatar f tn Stands to reason that: 2 x 5mg Percocet = 1 x 10mg Oxycontin Don't quote me on that though. I know Percocet has both Oxymorphone AND Acetaminophen in it, and Oxycontin has Oxymorphone only. I'm not certain what the Acetaminophen brings to the table as far as drug-interactions go, but your statement that the Perc and the Oxy are the same (2x5mg vs. 1x10mg) sounds about right. Maybe someone in the Pain-Management Community would know.
Avatar m tn t take your opinion back...i mean it. and everyone knows oxycontin was designed for terminal patients in the beginning. and if you need oxycontin to get thru your day. i think you dependant. and what's the difference from dependant than addiction? a word. a word. you'll still go thru detox and withdralwls. 99% is just ignorant. obviously this person needs to justify their use. this person just posted and ran. come out come out wherever you are fourfer. i double dog dare you.
