As the others have already said, you should NOT quit c/t while pregnanr, especially so soon in your pregnancy. As Maria said, everything you feel the baby feels and if your in w/d's so is the baby. Only problem is your baby mey not be strong enough to tolerate this and you risk having a miscarriage. You need to talk to your Dr and make him understand and if he wont listen, find one who will, and now.

Its gotten much worse in pregnancy and am often up a few times a night for a few hours laying around in agonizing pain just begging for it to subside to get rest so I can take care of my other girls. It hard to cope. I know oxycontin is pregnancy category B and Morphine is pregnancy category C but I was curious if it is more likely for neonatal withdrawals form morphine or oxycontin? I think oxycontin has a higher molecular weight and therefore harder time crossing the mom baby barrier.

I don't mean to offend you in anyway, but are you frigging kidding me???? Talk to your doc, an addiction councelor, planned parenthood, NA, AA any social service you can find.........quit the oxy first and foremost and then for whatever time the medical field thinks is a safe waiting period , but to aid you in NOT using again, and then think about having a baby. That is the very least you owe your unborn child.

I am so worried for my baby...I read up on pain pills and pregnancy and find so many conflicting answers...someone please help me... I currently take 4 to 5 Oxycodone/Hydrocodne 30mg a day. I started 2 yrs ago and have tried to ween myself off of them before, but wasnt successful. Now that I am prgnant, I worry about withdrawal and harming or miscarring my baby so I continue to keep doses regular in hopes that everything will be okay...

also i am worried about it being in the babies system when i give birth can someone please tell me how long it stays in the babies system please.

Did you ask the civvy docs for something less powerful than oxy? Oxycontin may be a good choice for you in that it is a long-acting medication giving you close to 24/7 pain coverage. However, if you take it for a month or so, you will have physical dependence on it, and since you're in a bad spot for medical care, that may cause more problems than it's worth. It appears your only option is to go back to the doctor and explain your dilemma and see what they can come up with.

Then, 2-3 years ago, I fell down some stairs, and now I have sciatica in my left leg. Yay clumsiness! So, I have a couple of herniated discs, some arthritis, plus which, the sciatica. What is the difference between a 4 milligram Dilaudin and a 40 milligram oxycontin. Is there a reason my Doctor is giving me such a lower dose of Dilaudin? I have a family member who swears up and down she only took the small amount that was prescribed to her for back pain in the last few weeks of her pregnancy. There has been a lot of suspicion about what was really going on with her throughout the pregnancy and she was known to take opiods before getting pregnant. Now the baby has been born and is experiencing withdrawals.

The only thing I can add to this is that I was given Percocet twice...once in the hospital, and once at home. Both times, I threw up so hard, I lost my voice. It's now in all my medical records for me not to have Oxycontin or Percocet. In fact, when I had my port taken out two weeks ago, I woke up in the recovery room with a bracelet on that had "NO PERCOCET" in big black letters. I agree with Irene.

i joined here in hopes to find someone or some people who might have an idea what i might be going threw. I'm 25 and been abusing Oxycontin's for 6 years now. Hi I have been relying on 20mg of controlled release oxycontin to wake-up in the morning for months now. I have been starting with 20 then as that wears of I take another 20. Here in Canada oxy has been causing changes in just about every law concerning the drug. Robberies of pharmacies is fast becoming an epidemic. Up to now there has been only one death attributed to the robberies but at the rate it is going it may not be the last. It was the 1st time i stuck a needle in my arm in over 2 years. I even took a cab to the walmart just to buy needles so I would not have to snort them. I have to say it was not as I remembered it, I was partail to heroin but the oxys used to do it for me too. I threw up constantly, could not eat, kept knodding out. I have been prescibed 80mg oxycontin 2 X daily. It seemed like the miracle drug. I've been taking it for almost 2 yrs With the recent change in the fillers, it doesn't seem to work as well, or last as long. Also I have been breaking out in small blisters on my hands. The only withdraw symptoms we have experienced are being grouchy and tired. I have been in school and wor everyday and he works in the coa mines. Why are we not sick? Are we going to get sick with withdraw later?
