Avatar f tn It is oxymorphone and it is strongest pain medication available in pill form based on pharmacology. The oxycodone in Oxycontin is metabolized by the liver into oxymorphone. Therefore, the Opana ER would be a drug that is very comparable to the Oxycontin, only twice as strong.
Avatar m tn Did you ask the civvy docs for something less powerful than oxy? Oxycontin may be a good choice for you in that it is a long-acting medication giving you close to 24/7 pain coverage. However, if you take it for a month or so, you will have physical dependence on it, and since you're in a bad spot for medical care, that may cause more problems than it's worth. It appears your only option is to go back to the doctor and explain your dilemma and see what they can come up with.
Avatar f tn Then, 2-3 years ago, I fell down some stairs, and now I have sciatica in my left leg. Yay clumsiness! So, I have a couple of herniated discs, some arthritis, plus which, the sciatica. Six years ago, I decided to try pain management. I was prescribed 30mg Roxicodone 4x a day, then about a year later put on OxyContin 80mg 2x a day, with the Roxicodone for BT. Wow.

Avatar f tn What is the difference between a 4 milligram Dilaudin and a 40 milligram oxycontin. Is there a reason my Doctor is giving me such a lower dose of Dilaudin? Is it because the Dilaudin is a stronger medication. From what I have read on the internet Dilaudin seems to be a more powerful drug. Thank you, Freedom.
135691 tn?1271097123 The only thing I can add to this is that I was given Percocet twice...once in the hospital, and once at home. Both times, I threw up so hard, I lost my voice. It's now in all my medical records for me not to have Oxycontin or Percocet. In fact, when I had my port taken out two weeks ago, I woke up in the recovery room with a bracelet on that had "NO PERCOCET" in big black letters. I agree with Irene.
Avatar f tn It does help with the energy. Its listed in the Thomas recipe and made a world of difference for me! How much oxycontin were you taking?

Avatar m tn Here in Canada oxy has been causing changes in just about every law concerning the drug. Robberies of pharmacies is fast becoming an epidemic. Up to now there has been only one death attributed to the robberies but at the rate it is going it may not be the last. When I mentioned that even though I was addicted completely to Oxy although I had only been on it for a month I was pretty much humphed at by one who will remain nameless.

494087 tn?1257793207 It was the 1st time i stuck a needle in my arm in over 2 years. I even took a cab to the walmart just to buy needles so I would not have to snort them. I have to say it was not as I remembered it, I was partail to heroin but the oxys used to do it for me too. I threw up constantly, could not eat, kept knodding out. I ask myself today why did I do that. I did not enjoy anything about it, not even the whole ritual.
Avatar m tn I have been prescibed 80mg oxycontin 2 X daily. It seemed like the miracle drug. I've been taking it for almost 2 yrs With the recent change in the fillers, it doesn't seem to work as well, or last as long. Also I have been breaking out in small blisters on my hands. My stomach also seems to be more upset than usual. I've been told that they didn't change the active ingredients. Could it be possible that I'm having an allergic reaction to the new fillers in the medication?
Avatar f tn Hey mom, just to follow up: I am a 29 year old ex-army college student. I know your son, and I know what he's going through. Getting off of the amount of oxy's that he's doing is like having a warm comforter ripped away from you if you were sleeping out in the cold for 5 nights in a row; it's no joke. You know, I compared my experience to some of the most stressful and grueling military exercises I ever went through. It was probably worse to be honest with you.
Avatar n tn I have been using narcotic painkillers off and on since about 12th grade. (I am now 22). I was clean from Feb 2005- August 2006. In the past 6 months I have been taking about 5-6 10mg percocets everyday. Within the past month I have been either doing that or snorting ATLEAST 1 80mg oxycontin a day. My friends finally found out about my "double life" and this gave me a strong incentive to quit. I havent touched any opiates in about 48 hours...
Avatar m tn t take your opinion back...i mean it. and everyone knows oxycontin was designed for terminal patients in the beginning. and if you need oxycontin to get thru your day. i think you dependant. and what's the difference from dependant than addiction? a word. a word. you'll still go thru detox and withdralwls. 99% is just ignorant. obviously this person needs to justify their use. this person just posted and ran. come out come out wherever you are fourfer. i double dog dare you.

Avatar f tn , and let your NATURAL reward system kick in! For me, today my NATURAL happy chemicals are finally working oxycodone-oxycontin-percocet free, and I love it!
Avatar f tn I'm wondering if 1 oxycontin (80mg) that my BF gives me every day to assist in my wean will help me. I am having minimal WD signs but the physical pain for which I was initially prescribed 3 Dils (8mgs each) per day by the former doc comes roaring back every morning. I am no longer on the Dilaudids.
