Oxycontin generic

Common Questions and Answers about Oxycontin generic

oxycontin

Avatar f tn Hi I answered your other question and am sending the answer on this post as well. I am confused as to why your ins would not want you to be on oxycontin, isn't there a generic? Is this some type of workmen's comp insurance? Sorry just trying to understand. There are many times where an ins co does not pay for a certain drug however will pay if the doctor explains why.
Avatar f tn GENERIC NAME: oxycodone. BRAND NAMES: Oxycontin In case someone was unaware of the names.
Avatar m tn , you may find that Oxycontin is more effective regardless of the fact that the strength of Oxycontin is lower than the strength of Opana Er. I have never tried Oxycontin; however, my physician said that we would try it if the Opana ER isn't effective. I have found Opana ER to be very effective in the management of my pain. I still have pain that breaks through during the day but I have a lot more control of my pain throughout the day than I did when I was on MS Contin.
Avatar f tn I WAS WONDERING IF THE GENERIC OXYCONTIN IS AS GOOD AS THE BRAND NAME BECAUSE I HAVE HEARD ITS NOT. ALSO DOES THE 10MG GENERIC HAVE GEL TOO?
1325672 tn?1290084214 If they don't have it, I can understand why, it ain't cheep..You said oxycontin, not oxycodone..big difference. Depending on dose, about 450 bux difference easily. i think 40mg OC are around 6 bux a pop.So you do the math..3 a day..18 bux a day times 30 days..I think its a dang good med if you are a chronic patient, but morphine sulphate products are a lot cheaper in generic form.
Avatar f tn Because you are in Canada you were probably being prescribed the generic form of Oxycontin because of Socialized Health-care and costs. The (generic) form of Oxycontin has been discontinued. Pharmacies in the US were allowed to dispense what they had left but no more has been made. My understanding for the reason was that there was problems found with the generic as far as the pills not working properly as far as the time released mechanism as well as potency.
Avatar f tn I mean, I know Oxycontin is slow release, but percocet is Oxycodone and how is that different from the Oxycontin? I thought they were the same only, one was slow release and one was not, but there must be another difference... Right?
356518 tn?1322263642 I have been taking the same medicine for 10 years and the same dose til last year, I take oxycontin 20mg thee times a day (up from twice daily) and recently got generic(teva) and I stay nausated and it has never done this before I uually take the name brand so is it the generic makig me sick and is there anything I can do to get through the month with this generic without feeling sick all the time?
Avatar f tn hopefully, only a month, I have to pay for my meds out of pocket. I cannot seem to find a pharmacy that dispenses generic oxycontin sr 20mg. Any suggestions?
Avatar m tn I'm not sure of your question and the answer you're looking for but I'll try. Oxycontin is the extended release form of Oxycodone. It should last up to 12 hrs. opposed to 4-6 hrs. with the Oxycodone. I don'rt feel that there is any difference between the two as far as pain management goes. Why do you ask?
Avatar f tn I would make sure that this last prescription wasn't accidentally filled with the instant release and not the ER version... And I think you blended two med names with Oxycontin MS...Oxycontin is a med all by itself..It is Oxycodone in Continuous formula...hence the "contin"....MS usually stands for Morphine Sulfate and comes in both IR (immediate release) or ER (extended release formulas)... If it is a 12 hour version...then usually most Drs. are ok with dosing it every 8 hours..
Avatar f tn Also, Purdue has recently made a deal with all companies that produce generic oxycontin. All the companies have been paid off to stop production and Purdue will be the only company producing time released oxycontin.
699217 tn?1323438700 I wanted to know what the difference is between hydrocodone and like-oxycontin or oxycodone, Percocet, tramadol, is this all just types of hydrocodone? All I ever took was hydrocodone....
Avatar f tn For me, hot showers, pre-natal vitamins, gatorade, magnesium citrate pills, and hot tea like green tea, lemon tea worked for me... I'm at 6 1/2 days sober, tomorrow morning will be my week mark quitting 215mg a day Oxycontin habit, and no that's not a misprint of mg's nor am I trying to sound like a badass... I've been literally high for 2 1/2 years every single day, in December 2007 I took this really horrible job, so I would pop 15mgs of Percocets (2 x 7.
Avatar n tn the only thing im wondering is if the suboxone will give me bad withdrawls if i only take it for 4 to 5 days max. will all the oxycontin be out of my system so that when i stop the 1mg of suboxone i have been taking for the past 4 to 5 days so that i wont go into withdrawls all over again.
Avatar f tn Example. If you eat one 10mg oxycontin right now, the amount of time before there is only 5mg of oxycontin left in your blood is it's half-life. Some drugs are metabolized very efficiently by our liver, like oxycontin(4 hours).
Avatar f tn I have a question since I am not familar with Oxycodone ER- generic verison of Oxycotin. My Dad had a scare yesterday when he took his Oxycotin but it had broken. Does that mean he got the full 10mg of oxycodone at one time instead of released throughout the day? Wouldn't that be the same as taking 2- 5mg oxys?
Avatar n tn My doc prescribe me a medicine called Hydroxyz generic for Atarax. it calms withdraws and treats anxiety. I was withdrawing from Oxycontin and it has helped me. also got some Phenigan and both meds was like $25. Don't spend your money on expensive stuff that you may become addicted to. My doc said Vallium and Xanex the withdraws could be dangerious.
Avatar f tn Oxycodone is just the generic name for oxycontin. Its a hi dose if you havent been on it long but not if you have been on it a while. Its about what i use to do along with hydro. Your body builds a tolerance to it and you have to keep upping the dosage for it to work. Also I dont think the GP told her to take the whole perscription in 10 days, probably a monthly amount. Sounds like she may have been chewing them which at that hi amount is deadly. Very sorry about the situation.
558096 tn?1255887002 now they are not making the generic ( so they say) and he says he will not write oxycontin anymore! What do I do? What is the next drug that even compares to it? Help!!
