oxycontin

526311 tn?1229286330 He is also on oxycontin, both for severe back pain. The oxycontin he craves and is addicted to (currently tapering down from) but the Lyrica he does not crave at all and sometimes doesn't take any at all during the day. Due to the addiction to the oxycontin, we have both spoken to the doc about Lyrica and he has told us that if the maximum dosage is exceeded then it can give a "high" but only in the higher dosage, it certianly couldn't do that at a low dosage apparently.
Avatar m tn i agree with lostmakeupgirl. i also am a VALID PAIN MANAGEMENT PATIENT. i didn't think id become a junkie over oxycontin but i did. i didn't think id stoop to the lows i have done but i did. i also find it rude and non productive to tell addicts how selfish we are. and if you reread rhe post he/she is scared that we will be the reason the drug is pulled from his/her life. that is the start of addiction in itself. reread how focused fourfer is on that. and fourfer is uneducated.
Avatar f tn They actually changed the way oxycontin is made so people cant do certain things with it and ive heard from more than a few chronic pain patients that it simply doesnt work the same. This is sad that they sacrifice efficiency of a drug to prevent abuse. I dont think efficiency of a drug or prescribing of a drug should ever be altered for those who truly need it just because there are those who abuse it. The sad reality is that it happens, though...
Avatar n tn I know someone who has been on OxyContin for about 9 years for Fibromyalgia pain. This person gets about 90 OxyContin a month. I personally think that is outrageous. I really wish the FDA would get rid of this drug completely.
1326416 tn?1370927001 THIS ISN'T REALLY A QUESTION, BUT A COMMENT! ----- My pain doctor has stopped writing any and all prescriptions for oxycontin and oxycodone. She was suspicious why some patients only wanted oxycontin or oxycodone for their pain, as well as patients claiming it's the only drug(s) that helped their pain. I understand the suspicion, and would wonder about the same thing myself, considering all the different pain medications available nowadays.
Avatar m tn the reason your doc might not prescribe oxycontin might be because of the widespread abuse of oxycontin. people who abuse oxycodone prefer oxycontin because it does not have the anti-inflammitory in it(so they can take more w/o ruining the stomach). opana is more expensive as just as abused(however it isn't as popular to prescribe, there is less of it around so it doesn't get noticed the way oxycontin does).
Avatar m tn I finally admit my abuse of oxycontin, nobody in my family had suspected I was using such a hard drug. I was clean of oxycontin and and lowered my cymbalta with the plan to taper off. I then realized anxiety was a large issue with my depression, so we tried clonazepam. That worked miracles. It may give me bad memory, but it is worth it to live normally. This all happened around Febuary 2008. In January 2009, I stopped using clonazepam.
Avatar m tn for some suboxone or subutex(just buprenorphine) really helps with pain management and carries a little less abuse potential than oxycontin or heroin. you still need to slowly taper off and the lower the dose the greater pain relief you get as opposed to full opiate agonists like heroin, methadone, or oxycontin,etc..
Avatar f tn I WAS WONDERING IF THE GENERIC OXYCONTIN IS AS GOOD AS THE BRAND NAME BECAUSE I HAVE HEARD ITS NOT. ALSO DOES THE 10MG GENERIC HAVE GEL TOO?
596605 tn?1369946627 yes: 14, no: 4, and abstain: 1. Many of those who voted yes said that they had done so with regret. Those who did not vote yes gave these reasons: •MR. YESENKO: I voted no because I'm horrified of the fact that there is no REMS available and the lack of clinical safety presented by the sponsor. •DR. FLICK: I voted no. I think the company sponsor has done a good job of presenting their product. They did good work. I think they came here in good faith.
765775 tn?1366024691 I am posting this so that we all have the opportunity to do our part to make sure we are not treated like those that abuse pain medications. Please take note that VICODIN which is the the opiod abused the most by those that abuse these types of medications is NOT on the FDA's list. URGENT: FDA May Remove or Limit Access to Opioid Pain Medications The FDA is currently developing what they term “Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategies” or REMS in relation to opioid pain medications.
Avatar m tn m so so sorry I meant substance abuse forum not drug abuse forum, I should have double checked the name before I posted and I apologize if my mistake made my response seem harsh, that was not my intent. Again I'm really sorry.
Avatar f tn Does the blue pill of oxycontin cause physical abuse by the one who is taking the pill?
Avatar n tn Even though I know nothing about this drug, common sense tells me that an addict cannot go back to their drug of choice even socially or this will spark their drug abuse again. Is this drug one that can be done socially?
1835769 tn?1318283340 The withdrawal symptoms will be pretty severe for about five days, though. BuTrans are the patch version of a drug called suboxone, which is another opioid. It's along the lines of methadone in that it can be used to control pain, but it is more often used to help people get OFF opiates.
Avatar n tn low dose formulations of oxycodone such as percocet(oxycodone/acetiminophen(tylenol)) or percodan(oxycodone/aspirin) which is most commonly given in 5mg or 10 mg tablets is usually given after certain surgeries and for people in severe pain. both oxycontin and percocet abuse has grown in popularity immensely in the past 10 years. its extremely drastic how fast it has arose to being a DOC for people. and the wd's are the same as other opiates of its kind like heroin or dilaudid.
Avatar m tn If my wife had given me free room and board, let me be as mean to her as I wanted, and there were no consequences to my drug abuse, I would be dead today. You can ask around here, I am not a bad person or of low moral character, I am an addict. When people say you are enabling your man, it means you are part of his problem. He may blame you, and he may be partially right, because he wouldn't be able to afford as many drugs or have good enough health to get as high as he does without you.
