oxycontin and xanax

my doc has me on Xanax 1mg and Oxycontin 30mg. every once in a while, I will take a pain pill then shortly there after I am having an anxiety attack. will it hurt to take both of my meds close together? this doesn't happen often. when I was on Oxycontin 15mg it didn't bother me.

I have been using narcotic painkillers off and on since about 12th grade. (I am now 22). I was clean from Feb 2005- August 2006. In the past 6 months I have been taking about 5-6 10mg percocets everyday. Within the past month I have been either doing that or snorting ATLEAST 1 80mg oxycontin a day. My friends finally found out about my "double life" and this gave me a strong incentive to quit. I havent touched any opiates in about 48 hours...

That would be like chewing an oxycontin. They are time released and you could overdose.

t felt any nausea,diarrhea,yawning,teary eyes yet. I do have Tramadol and Xanax for legitimate conditions i obtained in the army however. I heard about tapering off of Oxycontin but i wanted to try and quit cold turkey since i haven't been using as long as some people. Would it help if i take a Tramadol or a Xanax for the anxiety? What are some things i can do?

Please accept this advise as its intended - with good will, based on my own personal experience - of course check with your doctor first. Anyway - I decided to take one of the xanax and divide it in half and take it twice during the day, the second in the evening as bedtime was getting close, and then the final one as I went to bed. This has allowed for a more steady dosing, yet still delivers the most at bedtime when I want to sleep.

ok a brief history. I am 25 years old with a history of rage attacks since the age of 3, I mean the kinda rage that once I lose it I cannot stop myself. I always turn to hurting myself never others cause it seems like the pain is almost soothing. Anyway I have been on xanax since I was 17 and had always just been diagnosed with GAD and depression but ssri's made me suicidal and all in all much worse. Please help I got on methadone 4 years ago due to oxycontin and hydrocodone addiction that had been going on for 6 years......I was up close to 100mgs and have weaned down to 60mgs of methadone. I want off so bad and to top it off I have severe panic attacks and never dealt with my underlying issues regarding the addiction so I started abusing the xanax my Psychiatrist gave me.

ativan(lorazepam) is very similar benzodiazepine in chemical structure and in its effects to alprazolam(xanax) and also shares the same abuse, dependence, and addiction liability. i was taking originally 6mgs a night for insomnia and panic attacks starting at the early evening and taking it up to going to bed.

never tried to stop or taper me down only the opposite. Within two years I was up to 360 30mg ocodone and 60 60 mg oxycontin a month not to mention soma and 3 xanax bars a day. I never filled the xanax or the soma due to the fact that I had already realized what a monster the pain meds had become (thank god). I had spoken to the dr. about quitting and he had suggested suboxone "maintenance". After reading about that and the hell people were going through that wasn't an option.

Use this forum and post and read. You have to pull strength from your toenails and get through it. Then you can have your life back.

They have me on 30 mg oxycontin, twice daily, 10/325 percocet 6 a day, soma 4 times daily and xanax 2 mg for anxiety. What are my options for the breakthrough pain, that is what I am taking the percocet for and I need to stop with the Tylenol already enough is enough. I talked with my doc last time I was there to see her, and this is when she switched me to the percocet from Vicoprofen, due to the fact that it was doing nothing for the pain.

Hi Everyone, I was just wondering if Norco, 10-325 is easier to withdraw from than Oxycontin 80mg. My friend was taking 2 oxycontin 80mg a day and told her doctor ( they were not prescribed) and she told the doctor that the only thing stopping her from quitting oxycontin was the horrible withdrawals. He put her on Norco and told her to wean down with those, and that going cold turkey off Norcos ( once she's weaned down to 5 a day) is easier than w/d from oxycontin.

Glad u feel better Iam on my fifth day and so far its cost ones$60 doc visit and $23 for generic Xanax for one week and lunasta which he just switched to valium. Iam telling u from all the research and talking this is ur best way cuz there will b pain lots but u need that so u ******* stay off oxy.

I was also on amityiptyline, ambien, and a rare xanax. I had been on oxycontin since 2002 for lyme disease but was off completely a month before surgery. I was on vicoden for the post-op pain for the first surgery. I did fine after the first surgery except for a cough and pain in my neck. The second surgery, a skin graft, was more painful. The lortab and tramadol the plastic surgeon gave didn't work. The fifth day post-op I went back on oxycontin short term for the bad pain.

welli was taking all of those for about two eyars and in laqrge doses along with xanax, heroin, and oxycontin. i was a slave to the drugs so i know how you feel. honestly nytol is alot less addicting than the other sleep aids you have mentioned so try and lowering your dose with all of them and then try and just use nytol which is a brand name for diphyenyldramine(benadryl)commonly used in otc sleeps aids like unisom and simplysleep.

s a day finally a friend got me some suboxone which i began taking and slowly wheened my self off of that, clean once again for a few months.

Call me crazy but I think 20mg of Xanax is a boat load in a 24 hour period!! That might kill a person who doesn't have tolerance and even one that does!! Does she drink alcohol as well? A deadly combo! The largest dose of a single Xanax is 2mg...and that's going to put most people out for a bit or get really relaxed...

I decided to go back and see a different doctor and she perscribed me paxil for anxiety and xanax .5mg to help me sleep if I need it. I have trouble sleepings but after reading about xanax im not sure if I want to start taking it. I started te paxil yesterday and took 1 xanax last night and felt great but still did not fall asleep until about 5:30am. Took the xanax around 8:30pm.

I'm only 55 hours into this, and I'd really rather just be dead. I'm cross addicted to everything. I gave up and took ambien last night. Woke up in a DRENCHED t shirt and sweat. I can't stand the sight of myself or anyone. I'm NOT going to touch oxy or morphine to get through this. Please I pray I don't die. My eyes are watering like a fountain, I'm coughing, wrenching, nausea and my face looks on fire. And the smell!

Had I known then what I know now, I would have lived in pain instead of taking methadone and Xanax. I had been taking 120mg to 140mg of methadone and 2mg of Xanax, that was what was prescribed to me during that time.

I know I can do this, that is what i get though for trying to make new friends, because I have a social phobia and really bad anxiety. I do take xanax for my anxiety, klonopin for my social anxiety, and something called geodon to help me sleep. I just have issues and things were getting better and I know that this is just a MINOR set back. Thanks yall for responding , your input really, really makes me feel like everything will be alright. I've heard that Xanax is one of the worst to take for long periods of time and the worst to stop as far as symptoms. Is this true? I am prescribed an antidepressant plus Klonopin 1mg a day....I also get Xanax .5 mg from my mom, as she doesn't take them but gets them from her dr. I would like to know what people know or have heard and experienced. Thanks!!!

I am sorry that you are having such a hard time. I don't really know much about the suboxone and oxycontin but some people here will be able to help you.

20mg of Xanax? Is that right? I am prescribed 4mg of Xanax and was told that is the MAX daily dose. I cannot imagine the doctor prescribing you to take such a deadly dose. Does the Xanax not work for you?
