Avatar m tn Then after that you run into problems, especially money, family, job, self eseem, pride, the list goes on and on. I thought it was the only way to go. I have been off oxys for almost 6 months. And now I am detoxing from vics, 10 10's a day/ I dont have a choice, my liver is about shot to heck. So, I have ran out of choices, plus I am under the radar throughout the tracking system in this state. I was a doc shopper. It caught up with me.

Avatar m tn Accidentally overdosed on oxycontin. Was in alot of pain and took too many. Coming down from the high dose to my usual dose was horrendous. It was a week from hell. Had alot of anxiety, restlessness and agitation. Also was vomiting alot. Having a bad urinary infection didnt help matters. Couldn't sit still. Had to be on the move all the time. Couldn't eat, sleep. bath, shave or brush my teeth. Wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.
Avatar f tn Now on oxycontin and vicotin 10/325 ..i went cold turkey one week ago. How long do these awful withdrawals last.
909150 tn?1245857065 In the end I had to be honest with my doctor and tell him not to give me any more scripts for oxycontin. I told him I felt I was addicted and wanted to stop. I cant describe the happy feeling I had leaving the doctors office. I was so proud of myself for coming clean and being honest. I didnt think I would make it and was worried that I would end up overdosing if I kept using oxy. One thing that helped me greatly was medical cannabis.
Avatar f tn I found this website since I've decided to stop taking vicodine. I've been taking about 1000mg to 2000mg for the past 8 months. For the past week I weened myself to only 500mg a day (about 1 pill or 1/2 a yellow norco)... I try to go without taking anything which has made me VERY cranky, sleepy, achy... which I can handel, but I've been vomiting and I have to give and take 1/2. I'm doing this alone and my friends and family don't know that I have this problem...
Avatar f tn Hi I have a friend who has been taking 20mg and 40mg of Oxycontin for the last 6 months. This was due to her having unbearable arthritic back, hip, and knee pain. She has been ordered to go cold turky on the oxycontin because there is signs of liver and kidney damage. They wont operate on her for her pain till she loses a bit of weight. She is doing her best to lose weight but it is hard as she can not move much.
Avatar f tn Morphine is one of the worst narcotics for nausea and vomiting. However, given time it will go away. Try taking about half the prescribed dose to see if the nausea recedes, and gradually add back to the prescribed dose. You may end up doing better with a synthetic opioid like oxycontin rather than morphine. However, morphine is much cheaper than any of the synthetics, so if you can gradually increase to an effective dose with the morphine, so much the better.
765775 tn?1366024691 I have had (10) surgeries in the past 18 months and have to have number (11) this Wednesday. My doctors have me on Oxycontin 20 mg. and Percocet 5/325. Currently I take (1) Oxycontin 20 mg. a day and (1) 5/325 Percocet a day. This does not totally releive my pain but I don't want to increase my dosage. I have been on the Oxycontin since November, 2008. Prior to that the doctors had me on Vicodin 7.5/750 every 4 to 6 hours.
Avatar n tn m presuming since you say you now take oxycontin that your doctor no longer wants you to use the patches and that, in itself, is a reason not to - especially if you are under a narcotic contract. Even though a medication may be prescribed for us at one time and is perfectly safe and correct at that time, it does NOT mean that that same medication is appropriate or safe to use at another time - even if our symptoms are similar.
Avatar f tn It helps protect the lining of our stomachs and can avoid nausea and vomiting. Tea would not be my choice as it tends to upset my stomach. I would and do drink some milk. However we are all different and tea may be effective for you. Please keep in touch and let us know how you are doing. I will look forward to your updates. We wish you the best.
Avatar f tn He went through all the aches, vomiting everything like usual.. he has taken them for about a year and a half after he quit for a year before that. He took about 80 or so mg a day. He still hurts really bad as far as muscles and being able to work his normal hours at work. Is thid normal? We have no idea on anything and would really appreciate any advice.... Thanks...
Avatar m tn I was told this was a better forum for this post. I have chronic low back and left leg pain for which I've been taking oxycontin for about 10 years. Right now I'm taking about 300mg OxyContin a day and about 30mg of hydrocodone for break through pain. It's getting to the point that it's not working and a lot of the day I'm feeling like I'm in withdrawal. Quite frankly I'm sick and tired of taking the stuff. I feel like I'm a slave to it.
Avatar f tn Hello, I have been on Oxycontin for a few months now (very low dose) and notice it only works about 5 hours. If my doctor increased my dose would it work closer to 8-12 hours? (I have been taking 15mg every 6 hours). I am thinking if I just take the whole 30mg maybe it would last longer than taking it in halves and when I reach 8 hours take break through meds. Anyone know if you have taken a higher dose if it last longer?
Avatar f tn m weaning myself off by taking half pills and quarters. It seems to be working well. I have nausea and a head ache but at least the shaking and sweating have stoppped. I can't believe I got physically dependent like that so quickly! At least I know for the future so they can give me something different.
Avatar f tn gastrointestinal signs like diarrhea and vomiting, hypersalivation, seizures, depression, tremors, a drunken walk, disorientation, difficulty breathing or coma.
Avatar f tn Hi & Welcome, You have learned the hard way that it is not a matter of will power. I have to suggest that the first place you start is to get rid of the pills. You will not get this done if you have access to pills either in your home, via your friends or an open script. Next you have to decide that this is it. You are REALLY done and will do anything to get through the physical withdrawal and begin your recovery. Does withdrawal stink? Yeah, it does.
Avatar f tn ) I was taking 8-10 norcos plus 80 mg of oxycontin everyday for the past several months. So I would say it would last a couple days. Everyone is different tho. Like I said, apparently I'm feeling better faster than I thought, but I've also been making myself eat thru all of it without vomiting it back up. I think the nutrients have helped a lot.
Avatar m tn The hospital staff said I neede to stop all blood thinnig drugs (aspirin, fish oil, advil, etc) but did not say anything about pain mends (Oxycontin 4mg 2x day and Norco for the breakthrough pain (10 - 50 mg per day depending) Can I take the pain meds right up to the surgery?
5312547 tn?1367094865 t as strong and also has acetominophen in it so make sure not to take Tylenol in any other form. Oxycodone and OxyContin are essentially the same drug and have no Tylenol in them. OxyContin is a time relealse and is usually taken twice a day. Usuallymanother med is given for breakthrough pain. All of these drugs will case physical dependence and in some people can lead to addiction.
Avatar n tn I have a sponsee that has been taking lots of oxycontin for years. He has gone to addictionologists and also heard elsewhere that if he goes cold turkey off of oxy then he could die. His transition plan is to take subutex but thinks he needs to take it for years to keep from dying. Obviously, with 18 years clean I have never taken the stuff and do not want to advise as if I were a doctor. I definitely dont want to be responsible for killing him. My question is, can you die from cold turkey?
Avatar f tn m right and these headaches are being caused by the analgesics the only solution I see here is to somehow wean totally off the oxycontin. The bone and muscle pain is unbearable and I cannot walk without the oxycontin but the headaches incapacitate me too. I don't want to simply exist. I want to participate in life.
Avatar f tn They put me on lots of pain meds including morphine, percocet and oxycontin. I am home and have to go to PT twice weekly which is quite painful. I went to my surgeon on 11/2 and he said to wean off of oxycontin and oxycodone. He didn't explain how to go about that. My husband cut the oxycontin in half and I took that once at night and once in the morning for 3 days. When I thought about the next steps to get off the oxycodone, I thought to call the pharmacy for advice.
Avatar m tn Hey there, your right, withdrawals is withdrawals no matter what you withdrawal from. Some will experience more or less pain than others depending on the quality, if daily use, quantity, for how long one has been on for, etc, etc.
