I pretty much had an idea this was the case, but for the last year or so, someone very close to me takes this much, and gets sick every time he eats. He also has extreme lower back pain at times, and the doctors at the quick care keep saying it's his back, and give him even more lortabs! Could getting sick after eating mean he as something wrong with his kidneys or liver?

It is not extended release like the Oxycontin and I like it much better and do not have to worry about toxic Tylenol in the liver. I would ask at your next appointment, they make the immediate release oxycodone in 5mg, 10mg, 15mg, & 30mg. The Oxycontin is very expensive and most insurance companies require prior authorization and just won't pay for it... b/c there is not a generic for it. The oxycodone immediate release tablets are fairly inexpensive compared to the Oxycontin.

5 mg and 10mg. Percocet is oxycodone and tylenol. Oxycontin is oxycodone in a time released pill. They used to make a capsule of 15mg of fast release oxycodone that people called percocet 15's but that was a misnomer. I'm not sure that they still make them here in the US.

Here is the easiest way to look at it, (i think?) ... Percocet has tylenol in it, however, oxycodone and oxycontin are just straight percocet, no tylenol. I believe that oxycodone is the generic name for Roxicodone, which is also obviously percocet without the tylenol. Oxycontin and oxycodone are the same thing, EXCEPT oxycodone is a quick release tablet, and oxycontin is a slow release of the same med. Hydrocodone is the ingredient in Vicodin and Lortab.

I take the meds for real pain, and ran out of the percocet, because I try not to take as much oxycontin, becuase it makes me tired and gives me a headache. Any ideas?

Quite a risk of addiction, if you ask me, especially considering the long acting release and the potential for abuse Someone said that OTC drugs were safer for the liver. Tylenol can be obtained OTC and is deadly to the liver if taken in too large a dose. The NSAIDs (ibuprofen, naproxen sodium, etc.) are bad for the kidneys and also the liver if you have hepc.

5/325 percocet and 10 mg oxycontin i still have some of both. i am down to 1 percocet a day (1/2 in mid am and 1/2 mid pm) and 1 oxy at night. At what point should i just stop? Thanks for any input this is a great site!

My brother is 23, he has been addicted to oxycontin for 3 years. He recently was arrested and charged with poss. of a controlled substance with intent to manufacturer, deliver or sell. He had a large amount of oxycontin in his car and was not selling it. I'm his sister (25) and i bailed him out of jail. He has come to live with me. I want him to get sober, The charges are likely to be dropped because the cop broke his wrist while the police video SHOWS he is not resisting arrest at all.

I havent taken Hydrocodone in 5 years and Ive never taken Oxycontin. The dr doesnt believe me and Im probably gonna be released because of it. I cant make him believe me. They prescribe Lortab, Norco, Perocoet, Oxycodone, and Oxycontin and MANY others. It just depends on the patient and the patients needs and history. You really should get with your Dr. and talk about your concerns with him/her and decide together what will be the best for you. I had back surgery a few years ago and the dr prescribed oxycodone for pain since I had liver disease rather then oxycontin which I believe had tylenol. As Trinity said this stuff is seriously addictive and tolerance increases very rapidly. I threw hundreds of them out after a month of taking them when the acute pain subsided reasonably well.

hey maybe you can tell me what would be good to take for pain I had ADR surgery 4 years ago, since then they have been switching my meds around and I want to stop taking anything with Tylenol in it. They have me on 30 mg oxycontin, twice daily, 10/325 percocet 6 a day, soma 4 times daily and xanax 2 mg for anxiety. What are my options for the breakthrough pain, that is what I am taking the percocet for and I need to stop with the Tylenol already enough is enough.

The difference is Percocet is oxycodone(generic name) mixed with Acetomenophen (tylenol) and bunch of other buffers that account for 20% of the drug. So its weaker and less potential for geting totally hooked on it... Oxycontin is Extended release oxycodone but PURE OPIATE. If she doesn't have to i say don't go that route right away because there is no way back to percoscet from OXY. But i am not her doctor. so...

s far better to take oxycodone or morphine instead of constantly ingesting tylenol (tylenol is in both percocet and vicoden) which may not even be needed at all. It can be taken seperately if it is needed for a headache or something.

Before I was addicted to Oxycocet and Tylenol 4 and weaned mself off successfully; although, when I told the doctor that I wanted to get of Oxycocet, he said the "usual routine" is to use Oxycontin. I have been taking about 5 80 mg tablets per day. When I tell the doctor, he usually gies me new drugs or suggests a clinic (I am opposed to this because of two other sleep medications that they wanted to help me withbut I did it myself).

) So in the AM the next day, i felt very bad, shakes, etc etc, and i took just 1 40mg oxycontin, and it made me feel better! I was good all day, and the next day, I felt bad when I woke up again, so I took 1 40mg oxycontin! I am on my 3rd day, and the same thing happened! So I never took the suboxone. I am wondering if I can ween myself off of the oxycontin? Since I am taking 1 40mg pill per day, I think I may cut it in half and try a 20mg tomorrow morning.

s measuring on the smaller side. They just said to take tylenol which is bull. I was taking oxycontin for the pain pre pregnancy so tylenol does nothing.

Oxycontin, Morphine, Fentanyl and Methadone. In my opinion, I would start with the Oxycontin. It is easier to wean off of if you ever find yourself in a situation where you don't need it anymore. not exactly..oxy in theory is a bit stronger than hydro..and sub is a different type of narcotic than the other 2..but conversoin charts do compare the strength of sub to other narcotics..but it is not really the effect they r comparing//but the strength...i do believe there is a conversion chart in avisg's journal...

currently on 4 diabetes meds, oxycontin,neurontin, BP and cholesterol meds . all of which they know about and have documented. After i tested positive i was in shock and was looked at as scum9 even though i've been there for 3 years with NO PRIOR PROBLEMS. I seriously have no idea what happened. she stated that they were going to send it to the lab to get further checked out. In the mean time she gave me the usual meds for 10 days as opposed to the usual 30 days.
