Thanks Barb for responding, I have an appointment set up for a MMR shot with my DR office on Tuesday, so I will be talking with them about my sickness as well. I don't think I will be getting my shot either, just a guess. But I just need something to get me by the next 2 days and thought I'd find out about what the side effects were if I took the Nyquil, I just don't want any complications in the process. I took the Nyquil last night anyways and slept for awhile.

anti-histamines are most commonly used for allergies such as benadryl, but is often found in OTC sleep aids, and some older anti-histamines have anxiolytic effects, and many other uses. Taking nyquil every so often will help you get to sleep and stay a sleep due to a cold or irritation, but its not relally useful for insomnia. theres where more prescription sleepaids come into the mix, but enough rambling, your body will still burn calories while you sleep if you take nyquil...

I think it *is* likely your medicine extravaganza during your bronchitis may have temporarily elevated your liver enzymes. Just go get retested in a few weeks. Also, mixing Nyquil with the tylenol is a big no, no. Nyquil has alcohol and, when mixed with tylenol, can do (tah dah) exactly what happened to you! I'm sure one time won't damage your liver, but now you know! Take care.

About 3-4 months ago i had been clean off of opiates and benzos for 21 months, I started back at a profession that i knew probably wasnt the best and got right back into them. It is my first day off and im detoxing the old fashioned way.. the most bothersome symptom of the withdrawls is the restless legs.. other than eating bananas etc. what else can i do to help with the feeling that my legs are trying to get up and walk away with out me!? i was taking approx.

Not nyquil. But if you have cold like a symptoms Tylenol makes cold and flu drowsy med and thats okay and it knocked me out.

I would certainly make a call to your pediatrician and tell them what happened , they may say keep and eye on the child or bring him in..good luck ...

My daughter, who lives 2 hrs away, came to visit on Thursday and informed me she has been taking onycontin. Today is Saturday and she has been going through withdrawal. How can I help her? I've been giving her Ibuprophen and last night Nyquil to help her sleep. Should she drink lots of water? Warm baths? Swim pool? Also, my husband has some vicodin left over from past...but am afraid to give her that. Any suggestions to help?

Im 21 weeks and I just caught a cold my head hurts my nose is stuffed and every time I cough I feel the baby kick I feel like she's trying to signal me to stop bothering her lol ughh I miss nyquil lol

Everyone reacts differently to medicines, and there maybe be a low percent side effect for what you are experiancing. Also, Nyquil does have some alcohol in it so make sure it is not interacting with another medication you are taking. I have been on medications before that require you do not take in any alcohol whatsoever, including cough syrup and mouth wash.

down to about 150mg Percocets (not Oxycontin) and long story short, the wean did not work, so I took a week of from work and went cold turkey. I am on day 5!!! Strangely enough, although I couldn't move for the first three days (so no exercise), the hardcore withdrawals only lasted for 3 days. However, I still have diahrea; I can't eat and I CANNOT sleep at night one wink. It's Saturday and I have to go back to work on monday:( When will the rest of my bodily functions normalize??

hello ladies. trying to find out if any of you guys have ever taken nyquil for your cold while pregnant. I feel like crap and i know nyquil would wipe it out but i'm too scared to take it.

Nyquil has alcohol in it so i know that was one of the reasons she told me not to take it....and both nyquil and dayquil i believe may have aspirin or something along those lines in them which isnt recommended during pregnancy.

no! NYQUIL is not physically addictive and you won't suffer from withdrawals. And its not dangerous to take two Nyquil every night....after a long period of time you could get Liver damage but almost all sleeping medacine have that warning. It's more dangerous to drink 1 beer every night than it is if you take two Nyquil every night lol....there is less alcohol in two nyquil caps than there is in 1 beer....so your not at all in danger...

I stick to the natural remedies for colds and flu to avoid the high alcohol content and sedative properties of cold and flu remedies in the drug store, and some decongestants have stimulants in them that can cause anxiety.

Why would you even think of giving a dog Nyquil? Nyquil has a very high alcohol content and is definitely NOT good for dogs. Do NOT give it to him. What are his symptoms that you think he needs it?

I'm 16 weeks pregnant and have one heck of a cold. I was up all night last night and I'm exhausted. Tylenol has not helped a bit and I want to try something else to give me some relief. Part of my success (up to this point) may be due to the fact I have been their sole parent since they were 1,2,4, and 7..They are now 13,14,16,and 19...So my situation is a little unique compared to most households.....Its a very real and difficult issue to address for many these days.

My husband has started drinking nyquil to sleep before that he would toss and turn and not get enough rest. Our bed is not the issue and his work. I think hes substituting nyquil with alcohol and if thats the case what needs to be done. Is there any real serious side effects if he does not stop now its been 3 months.

What started out as an innocent use of cough medicine prescribed by physician, got additive mode started. I had started to use Nyquil to sleep and to make long story short, I have used a bottle (sometimes 2) daily for 3 years. 1 week off here and there when on vacation. Wanting to stop, not knowing what withdrawl will bring. Never had difficulty with alcohol, but off nyquil for 2 days, hot sweats, severe headache, irritation.
