Avatar n tn I know someone who has been on OxyContin for about 9 years for Fibromyalgia pain. This person gets about 90 OxyContin a month. I personally think that is outrageous. I really wish the FDA would get rid of this drug completely.
897749 tn?1241760482 I need to know what a safe time would be between Oxycontin 10mg 4 times a day and Methadone 10 mg three times a day? My doctor wants me off the Oxycontin but I was afraid to change without a waiting period but I don't want to wait so long I can't walk. I have Osteoarthritis,Fibromyalgia as well as Osteoporosis to deal with.
975514 tn?1324997938 I think I have been misdiagnosed with Fibromyalgia. And I feel as though I am getting weaker and weaker lately. I need some opinions from the group because my doctor doesn't seem to want to help me. First, I have a strong family history of autoimmune disease including RA, Reactive Arthritis (my father), thyroid and diabetes. I have been diagnosed with DDD, degenerative facet disease, and facet osteoarthritis.
582937 tn?1218177043 SUV -vs- Nissan and I lost. Three herniated disks and Fibromyalgia on top of that. I tried various (read taht every) opiates until we found Oxycontin. Finally! So for seven years I've been on this stuff-- when I have it, it's a miracle and when I don't it's a nightmare. I have also been using cannabis tea to help (a lot) with several Female Conditions. For years.
880900 tn?1467270141 t taken any drugs except those originally prescribed for my rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia, none of which are pain killers. When I first came to Mexico some 10 years ago, I was amazed at how my pain faded after a month or so, and I was determined that the same should happen this time. It did! I found out that I don't need any pain meds at all, once I was truly off the Oxycontin. In fact, I didn't even take any Temgesic ... not one small tablet. I'm so excited!
Avatar f tn I take 20 mg of oxycontin morning and night. I use oxycodone twice a day 5/325. I have chronic pain. Severe arthritis, fibromyalgia, senior citizen, unemployed. I am ready to stop taking oxycontin. I've used them for about a year and a half. I had exhaustion and left my job. I've had two knee replacements. I am ready to return to the workforce. I hope half-time. Money is an issue and my husband is ill with Alzheimer's. He is in LTC at this time.

Avatar f tn Hi, I was in a similar position last May....I was taking Oxycontin and Percocet for my broken tailbone, and was becoming quite tolerant to them, and I had a major surgery scheduled to remove a portion of my coccyx bone--a very painful surgery with a lengthy and very painful recovery. It is very important to make sure that all the doctors know your doses, so that they can give you the correct amount of anesthesia, and post-op meds.
Avatar m tn at 16 went back on the pain meds because i just couldnt take the pain and tried to start with lower dosed ones like nucynta 100mg, ultram taking 250mg at a time then went back to the 10mg norco moved back up to the 10mg percs then they added the 30mg oxycontin back it was just a horrible cycle well last october i had a bad flair up and was scared because my doctors didnt really communicate with me they just throw scripts at me well i found a good doctor who put me on 30mg ms-contin 3 times a da
Avatar n tn I currently suffer from Fibromyalgia. I have been on both vicoden and percocet (prescribed by a dr) for about 2 years, but I still have a problem controlling my pain. So I was sent to see a pain specialist. They are thinking of putting me on either Oxycotin or Methadone. The problem is that my husband and I would like to have a baby in the near future. I was wondering if one was would be considered safer than the other to take while pregnant.
Avatar n tn Approximately one year ago she was prescribed Oxycontin (180 mg per day) for relief from pain of fibromyalgia, DDD and carpal tunnel. Her doctor stopped prescribing about 7-8 months ago and she has been getting it from a friend. She is tired of the addiction and seems determined to kick it. I want to help her succeed but need some advice.
Avatar f tn Hello. I have Multiple Sclerosis, Fibromyalgia and Interstitial Cystitis and daily pain. I've been able to continue working. I've hit a crisis this weekend and don't know what to do. Any advice would be really appreciated. Here's what's going on: 12 years ago after surgeries, a variety of different drug trials, etc. I was finally refered to the Swedish Pain clinic in Seattle and they started me on Oxycontin 10 mg twice a day.
Avatar f tn I have also had 7 surgeries on my spine so I am on oxycontin 40 mg per day and percocet for breakthrough pain. They don't always prescribe that for fibromyalgia but if your FM is that bad some doctors will. I did try Lyrica, way too many side effects and I personally think it won't be used in the long run for FM. Neurtontin is good when you have nerve pain, another one I personally would not take daily or long term due to side effects. I do take Cybalta.
Avatar f tn I have severe arthritis in my hands, right hip and back as well as RSD and fibromyalgia. For a lot of years I was able t manage it through means other than narcotics. I hope you find some relief. Arthritis can be extremely painful and debilitating.
Avatar m tn Welcome :) I too suffer from fibromyalgia as well as migraines and was given Hydrocodone for the pain and was on them for several years. I would get migraines almost every other day and so I began medicating myself to try to alleviate my pain. My fibro would also flare up something fierce and I would also over medicate for that. I forgot my pills over 4th of July weekend and I went into hard withdrawals.
Avatar n tn My liver enzymes were 5 times normal and I have been really quite sick for the last three weeks. Instead of going back to the oxycontin, I decided that I would rather try to go off of the pills as I am so sick of being weak, not finding my words and thinking about when my next dose is due. Here is my question to those of you who have gone through this challenge: I am still taking the hydrocodone. I have only stopped the oxycontin. Am I fooling myself?
Avatar m tn I have spent a yeasr cutting back the oxycontin a doctor precribed after I shattered my ankle. I alsi have arthritis, fibromyalgia, a damaged spine and degenerastive bone disease so I am in genuine pain 24 hours a day. The doctor cut 50mgs at once the first time around and I ended up in the hospital with hypoxia and serotonin poisoning. He has been cutting them down by 5mgs every two months..I can habdle that but have to take nausea meds.
Avatar f tn I was recently perscribed morphine for my fibromyalgia and spurs on my spine. My question is does the morphine make you really nauseated and throw up. The last few days the side effects have slowed down, but I would still like to hear some suggestions from people in the forum.
Avatar m tn I have had 3 fusions... I also have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia...arthritis...and depression.
Avatar n tn I'm 47, female and after 8 years of progressively worse hip pain blamed on fibromyalgia, controlled with oxycontin, I insisted on a MRI of my hips. The MRI showed a fluid signal in the superior labrum at the 12:00 to 1:00 position with a likely cause listed as a labrum tear. There is also mild edema within the gluteus medius and minimus tendons and edema around the gluteus maximus. There is also thickening of the gluteus minimus and medius.
Avatar n tn HE PUTS LOUD MUSIC AND MAKES LOUD SOUNDS OF A SHIP HORN AND PUTS THOSE SOUNDS THROUGH A MICROPHONE, WAKES ME UP AND MY HEAD IS POUNDING WITH PAIN. CAN HIS NOISE AFFECT MY FM? CAUSE I GET WORST WHEN HE STRESSES ME OUT WITH THAT AWFUL SOUNDS HE MAKES.
1264863 tn?1391118193 at 16 went back on the pain meds because i just couldnt take the pain and tried to start with lower dosed ones like nucynta 100mg, ultram taking 250mg at a time then went back to the 10mg norco moved back up to the 10mg percs then they added the 30mg oxycontin back it was just a horrible cycle well last october i had a bad flair up and was scared because my doctors didnt really communicate with me they just throw scripts at me well i found a good doctor who put me on 30mg ms-contin 3 times a da
Avatar n tn m a stay at home wife! What would cause bruising like this for no reason? I have fibromyalgia and osteoporosis, could this be coming from either one of these problems? It hurts to behind over and it is sore to the touch! Please can you help me out on this?
1069644 tn?1276928863 I have talked to people in this forum who work and take oxycontin or wear a fetanyl pain patch. I take oxycontin 40mg daily for the pain and percocet for break through pain. Everyone is so different so talk to your doctor,I don't know if you want to get in to taking narcotics but if you are in a lot of pain and it's not managed it can take over your life. So have this discussion with your doctor.
Avatar m tn Just as most, this started as legitimate and even current treatment, however my objective of stopping the use of these is to TRULY get a feel for how much pain I am in and what the minimum is to control it. I have Fibromyalgia, Degen Disc Disease, and peripheral neuropathy. There are worst days than others, some better days than others - however the doses of the extended-release remained the same and I simply took less of, or more of, the breakthrough.
874521 tn?1424116797 I have terrible leg pain along with the bursitis and have been on oxycontin which is only making the pain worse, I have DDD so the pain could be from that or Fibromyalgia as FM is also intolerant of opiate, however he said I should have widespread pain with FM and not just localized in the legs...so he is looking at this Poly Rhuematica and I had never heard of it until now. did some reading but again found the pain not just localized to the legs...
Avatar m tn The hospital staff said I neede to stop all blood thinnig drugs (aspirin, fish oil, advil, etc) but did not say anything about pain mends (Oxycontin 4mg 2x day and Norco for the breakthrough pain (10 - 50 mg per day depending) Can I take the pain meds right up to the surgery?
5312547 tn?1367094865 t as strong and also has acetominophen in it so make sure not to take Tylenol in any other form. Oxycodone and OxyContin are essentially the same drug and have no Tylenol in them. OxyContin is a time relealse and is usually taken twice a day. Usuallymanother med is given for breakthrough pain. All of these drugs will case physical dependence and in some people can lead to addiction.
