it started working after about a month but recently ive started drinking alcohol about twice a week on weekends because i feel partying on the weekends is the only thing i have to look forward to. and after a weekend of drinking for about 3 days i get even more depressed than i started out as and it gets worse each time. suicidal thoughts, feelings of emptiness, lack of interest in activites, u name it.
With that being said, my family member decided to get off the pain pills and has been able to so far control her pain with diet and exercise. She lost a lot of weight, began eating healthy and exercising.
How old are you? How progressed is your disease? If you do decide to quit, I urge you to get with your pain management doctor to devise a taper plan and possibly try some non narcotic things to keep your pain under control.
i could,maybe...,understand doc scripting oxycontin for massive pain induced by trx drugs..but ,actually pain is tad more general in nature&coupled with nausea&such..i was given hydrocodone,vicodine,percoset for my own discomfort-but only while treatment was ongoing...doc's much prefer we use tylenol......
I have been prescribed many different opiates over the years for chronic pain and illness. Oxycontin, though not the strongest, wreaked the most havoc on my body and brain. In fact, both times my doctor switched me to it I went cold turkey off of large doses of it because I knew I was in trouble. It made me high and changed my personality. The number one thing was stomach pain, it really really hurts I know.
Try drinking warm fluids and not cold.
I have been taking vicodin, oxycontin and percoset for almost a year now due to a horrific accident and 6 operations. I cut out the vicodin and oxycontin but have been using 6 to 8 percoset 5/325 through now. I quit taking anything almost two days ago - I am probably at about 42 hours. I am very anxious, cold, have the runs and can't sleep. Can anyone tell me when it starts to get better? I would rather live with my pain than go through this again. Thank you.

So in the AM the next day, i felt very bad, shakes, etc etc, and i took just 1 40mg oxycontin, and it made me feel better! I was good all day, and the next day, I felt bad when I woke up again, so I took 1 40mg oxycontin!
I am on my 3rd day, and the same thing happened!
So I never took the suboxone. I am wondering if I can ween myself off of the oxycontin?
Since I am taking 1 40mg pill per day, I think I may cut it in half and try a 20mg tomorrow morning.
The beginning was very hard, and I was so scared. But stay strong and cut down daily and slowly. It will happen for you, and by 2 weeks, you will be off. Try to stay busy watching tv, drinking lots of liquids so it leaves your system faster, and stay positive. You can do this, and so can I. Take my practical advise and stay disciplined. m right and these headaches are being caused by the analgesics the only solution I see here is to somehow wean totally off the oxycontin. The bone and muscle pain is unbearable and I cannot walk without the oxycontin but the headaches incapacitate me too. I don't want to simply exist. I want to participate in life.
At the clinic, they warned me that isoniazid is processed mainly by the liver and that drinking alcohol could cause liver damage in combination and should be avoided. I have no problem not drinking, but I take norco on a regular basis for chronic pain and I'm concerned that the acetaminophen in the norco's will combine with the isoniazid and cause severe liver damage.
Thus, as of yet I havent begun taking the antibiotics.
re over the withdrawal. The opiate takes 72 hours to be out of your body. Keep drinking water and juices to flush flush flush !!!
The good feelings take a bit longer. You have to work at that. There's happiness that comes with being clean and over the addiction. You need to get that dopamine back up.
Our brains forget to produce it so it needs a push. B vitamins help and exercise is the biggie here.

My sister was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer in March. She is going through radiation and chemo, but she won't quit smoking or drinking(both heavily). Now she is on Oxycontin and is still in denile, for she is always 'high'. Is there anything anyone can tell me to say to her or do for her that can help me help her?
They put me on lots of pain meds including morphine, percocet and oxycontin. I am home and have to go to PT twice weekly which is quite painful. I went to my surgeon on 11/2 and he said to wean off of oxycontin and oxycodone. He didn't explain how to go about that. My husband cut the oxycontin in half and I took that once at night and once in the morning for 3 days. When I thought about the next steps to get off the oxycodone, I thought to call the pharmacy for advice.
I know what you're saying. I quit drinking and smoking cigarettes about 15 years ago. I spent about 25 years Bartending, and saw enough of what people do when drunk. It is the worst drug ever (alcohol). Pills, YEAH! I know all about all kinds of pills that give all kinds of thrills, and now look, I'm an Oxycontin Addict. I get Valium, but rarely, if ever take one. Trazadone, in my opinion, is the best sleep aid out there. It's an antidepressent, but in 150mg. and up.
Because I take 160 mgs of oxycontin a day and If I drink my Jack, which I miss greatly!, I will get sick as a rabid dog, I am sure. I miss it alot, but I now you can stop. Although, you have no substitute, like I had my pain pills, you can create a hobby, or exercise, maybe build a model or do ceramics....it may sound gay, but sometimes it fills the void and will help you get out of it!! As I mentioned last night, I have tapered down from a combination of 20 oxycontin & endocet per day a couple of weeks ago, to a total of 8 pills a day for the last two days. (3 oxycontin and 5 endocet). My question is, would marijuana help at all with the WD if I were to at some point go CT.
I wish you guys had an answer for a broken heart as well. The pain of my wife of 30years taking my two young sons and leaving the day after xmas, is worse than any WD.
