Common Questions and Answers about Oxycontin and diphenhydramine

oxycontin

1219328 tn?1266881841 I had this horribly when coming off of oxycontin. The best advice I can give is to take some tylonol pm...and they have these otc restless leg tablets... I think they're more like a vita/herbal thing though... anyway, I'm sorry I can't tell you how long this lasts b/c I never finished getting clean but i'm working on it.
Avatar n tn i took tylenol pm last night and just wanted to know how long it takes until the diphenhydramine gets out of your system because this is one of the things tested for in my urine, even though it is rediculous because I had a headache and needed it.
Avatar m tn Is it safe to take 3 tablets of diphenhydramine (75 mg) if 2 tablets (50 mg) doesn't help my insomnia?
Avatar m tn Another week and you should be over the worst if the wds. And any wd pain and RLS should lessen. Then you can start figuring out what your real pain is. Bc the opiates make pain worse. I hope the best for you. Try using something non ibuprofen too. Aleve etc.
Avatar f tn i went into a 3 day tail spin of intense anxiety, racing thoughts, and obsessive thinking about the anxiety and fear of it coming back. i could literally not think of anything else. on top of that hell, i couldn't sleep through the night. 50mg of diphenhydramine would knock me out. but i would wake up 1-3 hours later. the first 2 nights this happened, i was able to fall back asleep. but the following nights, i wasn't able to fall back asleep.
Avatar m tn I have a bottle of Unisom and the ingredient states it contains Diphenhydramine (An Antihistamine) not Doxylamine.
Avatar f tn Tylenol PM is just acetemenophen and diphenhydramine (trade name Benedryl). I do not have access to a copy of the PDR (unless it is available online) but someone who does could check and see if there are any warnings on those two chemicals regarding PVCs. Small trivia note: diphenhydramine was approved for OTC sleep aid BEFORE it was approved for allergy relief OTC. Years ago I was having a problem with a rash and didn't have medical insurance. A friend at Church was a pharmacist.
624839 tn?1221807899 It could also cause you to have difficulty in coordinating movements, and may lead to excessive sleepiness and stupor, and respiratory depression. If the Fentora is not controlling your pain adequately, the dose may need to be increased. But I don't think it's a good idea to mix it with Diphenhydramine.
Avatar f tn Sinusitis, chronic bronchitis then COPD. All because doctors refused to treat the sinusitis. Because of this I can't afford the meds that are the staple of COPD treatment. But it did lead me into an alternative that works better and with less side effects. Benadryl works on the same principle as does ipratropium but I have never been told to use it. I can't tolerate Advair (causes angina) nor Albuterol (causes worse congestion and coughing).
1808884 tn?1324345703 I have to try one other thing someone posted to me. I feel like I am wasting my money!!! I take diphenhydramine, sea sick pills. I just want to be able to stop my head from being so awake!!! I seriously think I am worse than most!
Avatar m tn Hi, I'm on Diphenhydramine (Benadryl)now and also wanna take a HIV PCR test, does Diphenhydramine (Benadryl) affect the test result?
492016 tn?1209358653 So I waited it out for about a week and things got worse. I decided to go back and see a different doctor and she perscribed me paxil for anxiety and xanax .5mg to help me sleep if I need it. I have trouble sleepings but after reading about xanax im not sure if I want to start taking it. I started te paxil yesterday and took 1 xanax last night and felt great but still did not fall asleep until about 5:30am. Took the xanax around 8:30pm.
Avatar m tn I take a combo of diphenhydramine and diazepam to try to sleep. It used to be zolpidem and diazepam but the zolpidem stopped working and because of my depression/self-harm/suicidal tendencies I would knock myself out day and night for days sometimes till I felt safe to get out of bed and I was taking way too much of both. Now it's the diphenhydramine/diazepam combo. I'm taking less diazepam than I used to with the zolpidem but more and more diphenhydramine and it's worrying me.
Avatar m tn I'm on day 12 detox of hydro. haven't had much sleep for pushing 2 months from tapering down then kicking. the first 3 days of wd were bad, but after that, it's just I can't sleep. mostly from muscles flexing and contracting. it get's a little better every day, but still I can't sleep and am exhausted. I finally broke down and tried the benadryl and it worked well last night. I couldn't sleep again tonight and finally broke down and took some more at 3am.
Avatar f tn I just want all of you out there to know that my friend took an overdose of diphenhydramine last night. He took 100 of the 25 mg pills. Within 30 minutes he had horrible halucinations, and then around 4 hours later he was violently throwing up blood and stuff. He couldn't walk well and coordination was bad. This morning he slurs when he talks. He has had a stroke. The reason he did this was because he was diagnosed with cancer. Pancreatic and lung. He was given less than 6 mos.
Avatar m tn I have hepatitis C and can not currently afford to see a doctor for it. I have terrible insomnia and take 75 mg of diphenhydramine HCL(Benadryl) each night to help me sleep. Is this a safe medication to take?
Avatar n tn Can I Take Diphenhydramine HCI 50mg and Clonazepam .5mg and Lithium Carbonate 450mg in one dose tonight before bed.
Avatar f tn Tylenol PM (Acetaminophen and Diphenhydramine) is not considered to be an addictive product. The reason Tylenol PM helps you sleep at night is due to the Diphenhydramine which is a sedating antihistamine that is used in many OTC night time formulations. Diphenhydramine can cause side effects such as excessive daytime sedation, dry mouth, and urinary retention and thus its use long term as a sleep aid may not be preferred, but it is not addictive.
Avatar f tn diphenhydramine is Benadryl. waterLilly7 probably meant Doxylamine, which is Unisom. A slow taper can be done over time, slowly decreasing the medication little by little. The body doesn't notice when it's done in small enough increments, and the body is given time to get used to a slightly smaller amount. How fast or slow one tapers depends on what works. A fast taper can be from 0 to 2 weeks. A slow taper may take months.
Avatar f tn I know there are posts on diphenhydramine abuse on here already, however the ones that I've found are a few years old. I am wondering if anything new has come up on diphenhydramine abuse. There is still limited information online about it. Reading other people's articles has shocked me because my reaction to diphenhydramine is quite different. I'm a heavy user, usually about 20 a day, ten at a time. What makes me feel different is my lack of negative side effects on it.
Avatar m tn I am a oxycontin addict. I have been taking over 3 80 mil oxys for over a year now and am finally addmitting to myself and my family i have a problem. I went to the doc yesterday and she gave me clonidine to help with the withdrawls, which everyone knows are hell. I was wondering if anyone has taken this medication and if it works. I have a heart condition called atrial fibulation and do not want the medication to fire that up. Thanks.
Avatar f tn My wife has atopic dermititus and takes benedril every day to help with her skin is it ok for her to take while prego and taking it through out the whole pregnancy will it effect the babie or birth presedures
Avatar m tn The diphenhydramine helped me a lot - - I used it in conjunction with melatonin and had pretty good success................A warm shower also helps before bed....
Avatar f tn I'm seriously addicted to Diphenhydramine (in Benadryl, etc.). Is anyone here addicted to this stuff that seems to be NOT addictive to everyone else but me? I finally found a place on the internet that talks about being addicted to Diphenhydramine HCI Like I am. I saw a member's (Unisom) posts here from a few years ago ...I had to write him and anyone who may be on here reading this.
922573 tn?1304099329 Not knowing at the time that the pain would be chronic (nerve damage), I asked to be taken off of oxycontin and just took percocet as needed. Now that I know the pain is not going away, perhaps a low dose of something long acting would make more sense. At any rate, a discussion with my doctor is obviously necessary. It is ridiculous for me not to have adequate pain relief when there is surely something out there to help.
3178444 tn?1348441829 t taken melatonin while pregnant, but you can take unisom (diphenhydramine is the active ingredient and it is safe), tylenol pm, or benadryl for insomnia. I took unisom with my zofran because it was the only combination that worked for my hyperemesis, and it helped me sleep.
Avatar n tn Benadryl (diphenhydramine) is an antihistamine and is used to treat sneezing, runny nose, itching and other allergies. So, as mentioned above it dries out the secretions and hence is not recommended in lung disorders. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn I take a valerian root/passiflora (passion flower) pill that has hops and catnip in it and it works with me. I've found with melatonin and benadryl that the less I take the better it seems to work. I don't think xanex for sleep is a good thing unless it is anxiety keeping you awake. I,m no expert but if you can take 1.5 mg of xanex and not sleep there is something else going on.
