Avatar n tn I was wondering if anyone new about the side effects of Oxycontin. I am currently taking 60 mg. 3 times a day for chronic pain. I have notice among other things that my sex drive has pretty much disappeared and that I have real problems getting erections if I may be so bold here. So I was wondering if anyone knows if that is a normal side effect of this drug. Also sweating and chills seem to be happening alot.
909257 tn?1242668182 Pain medications have numerous side effects and those who do take pain meds on a regular basis do usually have some kind of depression due to the fact that they do have chronic pain but as far as the meds causing depression or bipolar no I do not believe so.
774736 tn?1311331385 Is it possible that marijuana and oxycontin abuse could have caused this? I havent touched oxycontin in over six months, four months before I had my first anxiety attack...I stopped smoking marijuana two months ago and after all the ER visits and everything checking out fine(heart and lungs), I still have episodes of panic but now Ive been feeling like im in a dream...I cant stop thinking about what could have caused this mess...
Avatar m tn I see from your old posts that you have been doing the detox/ relapse merry-go-round since June. You're going to have to ask yourself why you continue to relapse and do something different this time. Everyone here will tell you that detox is the easy part. It's the day-after-day of living sober that's the hard part. If you don't change everything in your life that makes you want to use, you will simply keep using.
491984 tn?1463398730 Has anyone experienced adverse side effects from the new formula of oxycontin?
Avatar f tn The generics deffinetly lasted longer and kicked in almost instantly rather than the real oxys which took at least 30-40 min to kick in. Also the side effects i recieved from the generic were twice as worse then side effects from the real oxys. So imo do not abuse the generics!
Avatar n tn effects of Benadryl abuse can include increased heart rate, insomnia, kidney and liver damage http://allergyhero.
Avatar f tn My question is does the morphine make you really nauseated and throw up. The last few days the side effects have slowed down, but I would still like to hear some suggestions from people in the forum.

Avatar f tn Does the blue pill of oxycontin cause physical abuse by the one who is taking the pill?
1151493 tn?1263336020 All this depression and self confidence issues ARE related to the side effects. Which scares me to death because I haven't had luck going down to less than the 4mg. Thank you for your response. XXXXxxxx.
Avatar m tn Pretty much ALL of the opiates do the same thing -- I'm just generalizing here -- but the only reason one may switch from one to another (e.g. dilaudid to morphine, or, oxycodone to oxymorphone, or pick-a-name to pick-a-name) is that one narcotic may have bad side effects that the other one doesn't have. For example, someone taking morphine may complain of constipation and sleepiness that won't go away, so the doctor may prescribe dilaudid (hydromorphone) instead. And, vice versa.
Avatar m tn i agree with lostmakeupgirl. i also am a VALID PAIN MANAGEMENT PATIENT. i didn't think id become a junkie over oxycontin but i did. i didn't think id stoop to the lows i have done but i did. i also find it rude and non productive to tell addicts how selfish we are. and if you reread rhe post he/she is scared that we will be the reason the drug is pulled from his/her life. that is the start of addiction in itself. reread how focused fourfer is on that. and fourfer is uneducated.
Avatar f tn Hi Everyone, I was just wondering if Norco, 10-325 is easier to withdraw from than Oxycontin 80mg. My friend was taking 2 oxycontin 80mg a day and told her doctor ( they were not prescribed) and she told the doctor that the only thing stopping her from quitting oxycontin was the horrible withdrawals. He put her on Norco and told her to wean down with those, and that going cold turkey off Norcos ( once she's weaned down to 5 a day) is easier than w/d from oxycontin.
Avatar m tn the deal was going good till the oxy formulation change which they claim is because oif abuse which i would agree somewhat but there is another reason and it is to extend there patent on oxycontin........i take all my meds the way i am directed to by my dr. i dont abuse or anyother crap.i have noticed a nasty feeling in my stomach and they dont take away the pain for the time amounts as before causeing me to run out of breakthrough meds early....should i ask my P.A.
Avatar m tn for some suboxone or subutex(just buprenorphine) really helps with pain management and carries a little less abuse potential than oxycontin or heroin. you still need to slowly taper off and the lower the dose the greater pain relief you get as opposed to full opiate agonists like heroin, methadone, or oxycontin,etc..
1276338 tn?1270989900 who is prescribing this for you, get a taper plan and get off this stuff if it is making you feel that way. Sounds horrible, the side effects of it for you. Great luck to you, all those side effects cannot be good for you or anyone around you. Get you some help with that dr. okay? Keep posting, and keeping us informed.
922573 tn?1304099329 t want to be on anything too strong. After several failed attempts at other medications (side effects), we decided to try Oxycontin since that has always worked in the past without any negative side effects. For some reason I don't tolerate the new formulation well. It makes me nauseous, causes cramping, etc...
Avatar m tn the reason your doc might not prescribe oxycontin might be because of the widespread abuse of oxycontin. people who abuse oxycodone prefer oxycontin because it does not have the anti-inflammitory in it(so they can take more w/o ruining the stomach). opana is more expensive as just as abused(however it isn't as popular to prescribe, there is less of it around so it doesn't get noticed the way oxycontin does).
Avatar f tn Kes I had all of the same side effects you are speaking of when I used tram and yes at 800mg a day you are putting yourself at great risk of seizing .Have you tried tapering off?
501792 tn?1261111106 m not taking it but I started taking it slowly every 12 hours I felt nauseous and dizzy from it I was getting weird side effects from it like diarrhea she did not want to give me Norco 10s the 325 I've been taking them for 3 years I am diagnosed with disc Denigration disease lower back injury L5/S1 4.
