In the generic form, it would give the mg strength of the pill (ie, 5/500) and then say APAP on the label. The 5 is the mg strength of the narcotic, the 500 denotes how many mg of tylenol are in it, and APAP is the generic denotation of the Tylenol.

The perscription will say on it how much tylenol it contains or if it contains aspirin (which I doubt pre-surgical). Next to the oxycodone it will say, apap ###. That is the amount of acetaminophen (tylenol) in it.

He gave me 5/500 (5 mg hydrocodone/500 acetaminophen) pills to be taken 3 times a day. There were many days when I only took 2 or 1-1/2 pills.
But since I decided to get off the pills 5 days ago, I've had all the withdrawal symptoms.
So to answer your question about addiction, abusing drugs is not the only way to get addicted. Using them exactly as they are prescribed gets you just as addicted.
So, please do not mis-construe my advice for an assertion of inevitable addiction should you double-dose your hydro/apap 5/500 tablets. I am simply trying to open your eyes to the fact that *any* human being who introduces synthetic opiates into their body over the course of "x" time

I am currently taking 10 mg of oxycodone(w/o apap) 4x a day & 30 mg of oxycotin 3x a day. But the 30 mg oxycotin doesnt seem to be workin as before. Can I take roxicodone30 mg to replace the oxycotin along w/ the 10 mg oxycodone or are they the same,???
The first day I started the Z. (about 5 days ago) I got less pain relief and much more pain than I had with 5/375 Vicodin! That's seems totally wrong but it happened. The dose of the Z is the same as I got for the number of 5/375s I took per day.
Anyone else on Z. and how do you like it? Any side effects?
Yeah my doctor allows me to take up to 1000 in a single dose...just not to exceed 4000mg in a single 24-hour period...for my lortabs I take 2 5/500's 3x a day to keep the limit well under "unsafe". Even when I hurt I try not to take more than 3x a day just to be safe...I've abused my liver over the years so I don't want to take a chance :).
my current dr has increased me from 25 to 100mcg patch over the 6 month period. i was also taking 15 mg oxycodone 3x daily. with the increase in the patch he has decreased my oxycodone.. now i currently take 5mg oxycodone 3x daily. the patch does give me some relief, but the oxycodone seemed to work better. i told this to my dr and his response was " i think oxycodone is a bad drug". while not wearing the patch, i took 2 of the 15mg oxy at once.

My doctor was substituting with percocets, Till I was finaly switch to the patch. Percocets is oxys with apap. The shortage is suppose to be over maybe this month.
A news article here said someting about the DEA only allows so much to be manufactured. And they came in late with thier estimates, Now production is behind. Anyways, thats what I had read.

hydrocodone or oxycodone? I have not heard good things about oxycodone, so I would be hesitant to try it but I am curious which works better for you. I want to be on the lowest dose possible (of whichever my doctor sees fit) that is sufficient enough to do everyday activities. Is there anything you have tried that you felt works for you that I should ask my doctor about?
m in my 30s and do not drink but abuse percocet on and off throughout the year. My enzymes have never been elevated but now they are. I take 1300mg APAP (20mg oxycodone) at once and then 975mg APAP 4 hours later and then that is it for the day. I repeat this for 2 weeks and then go anywhere from 2 weeks to 3 months off. No alcohol ever used in conjunction and rarely alcohol when not taking APAP. I quit using the painkillers 10 days before my test. My ALTs were 59.

The prescription is for Oxycodone HCL. I asked my doctor what the difference between this and regular Oxycodone 5/325 APAP was, and he stated that the one I'm on doesn't have Tylenol in it. He said that the APAP stood for Tylenol, not the CET; Because I asked about that, too.

If its hydrocodone it will be stated as a xx(hydrocodone) - xx (apap/asprin). Doses of tylenol ranged from 325/500/750 and asprin i'm not sure (Assume only 200mg but I have no clue.They come in liquid suspension and tablet form and rarley without a tylenol/asprin additive. I'm taking percocet which is a whole different Active ingrediant. From my experience a lot more dangerous than hydrocodone. Its approx. 1.5x stronger than lortab in analgesia terms.
