Chills, body aches, fever or flu like symptoms are all normal side effects of interferon. High doses of vicodin means you're getting a high dose of acetaminophen which can be very liver unfriendly. Those with hepc should not exceed 2000 mg of acetaminophen daily. If you must use pain management drugs for an existing condition perhaps you should talk to your doctor about prescribing something without acetaminophen such as a low dose oxycodone or Tramadol.

I prefer the oxycodone, only because I want to have control of how much acetaminophen, or other NSAID I take. They can have serious side effects too, as in liver damage. So, I like being able to take each separately as needed.

There are alot of options. Just talk with the doctor about the tylenol side effects. It's a common problem when one is on pain medications for longer than a simple procedure, ie: a month or so...

I would go with the oxycodone (percocet) over the hydrocodone (vicodin), because it's possible to get the oxycodone in it's pure form in a pill without the tylenol in it. The -cet suffix on the percocet is what denotes the acetominophen or Tylenol. In the generic form, it would give the mg strength of the pill (ie, 5/500) and then say APAP on the label.

I appreciate the help with the side effects, I was trying to figure out if I was having normal side effects and which would be from the Tylenol and which from the oxy. I am trying to make sure I take breaks when I can handle them from the meds, so I don't get dependant or addicted. Some of the pain medications are a bit harder for the liver to metabolize than others ie. Fentanyl vs. Oxycodone. Fentanyl is harder for the liver to metabolize and Oxycodone basically just flushes right through as long as there is no acetaminophen added. I take Milk Thistle and Dandelion Root everyday as they both assist the liver with detoxification and will not interfere with the potency of any medications you may be taking.

Question is why are you so worried about your liver? Is your liver already compromised? At 6 a day you are only getting 1950mg of Tylenol which is not a problem if you have a healthy liver. So i've been on tenofivor(viread) for about 8months now. I've experienced most of the side effects listed. Recently i've been experiencing a pain from my upper left chest throughout my arm. Other reported effects are loss of libido, tightness in the chest, itching, irregular breathing, and irregular heartbeat.
