Common Questions and Answers about Oxycodone hcl

oxycontin

Avatar m tn I was taking two Oxycodone 5 mg. Now I'm taking 1 Oxycodone hcl 10 mg. Is there a difference from the hcl tablets and the ones without hcl? It seems like the tablets before (the ones without the hcl) were a little bit stronger than the ones I take now that have hcl after the Oxycodone. Thanks.
Avatar f tn What exactly is Oxycodone HCL 30 mg? My sister was getting 100 pills a week since Dec 2008 for this amount. Isn't this quite a bit for someone who has a bulging disk in her back? One week prior to her starting the 30 mgs, she was taking 15 mg @ 100 a week. Any help would be appreciated.
Avatar n tn I have an annular tear in one disc and a bulging disc with bilateral nerve impingement. I have been taking oxycodone HCL 15 mg for about a week now, I am prescribed three a day as needed for pain, but have only been taking about 1 a day. Before that I was on 10mg Percocet three times a day for a month. My ob/gyn said that it wasn't a big deal and my specialist said that I would need to wean myself down during the last trimester.
Avatar f tn Maybe oxycodone? plain oxycodone not oxycontin... it is stronger but it may work better with the fentanyl...
1434665 tn?1289855538 Last weekend went to detox for Oxycodone HcL 60 mg (not extended release) a day for 2 years. (doctor prescribed). Never on street drugs or had a problem with any other prescription med. Could not quit this on my own, and it started to make me sick. Detox went well. However, first two days I felt sluggish. Then tried one/half dose of suboxone per doctor, and that was a nightmare.
Avatar f tn d double up the doze in the morning to help me get jump started. After hearing that he changed my perscription now to OXYCODONE HCL 15 mg. The reasoning is that these don't use Tylenol to hurt my liver. My question is 1: will they work as good and 2: will I have Vicodene withdrawel? I've never had these before or know of anyone who has. He had me on Darveset and Tramadol years ago but I told him they were garbage and didn't help at all. Thank you.
Avatar f tn I've been on oxycodone for years for injured and deteriorating lumbar, thoracic and cervical discs. Currently I take 30 mg oxycodone 4 times daily (sometimes more depending on the day). This works very well for my pain and restores (mostly) my ability to perform daily activities. My problem as of late is sleep. My sleep is interrupted due to pain - it affects my being able to fall asleep sometimes and without doubt gets me out of bed BEFORE I am fully rested.
Avatar f tn Approximately three months ago, I started seeing a new doctor, and he took me off the Percocet that has Tylenol in it, and placed me on Oxycodone HCL 5mg; Which is Percocet without the Tylenol, basically. So here's my question to you, and please help me with this... I've been taking 8-10 of these pills a day, as directed by my doctor. In order to get out of bed in the mornings, I have to take a pill and a half and be on my way within 30 minutes of taking the pill.
Avatar m tn I'm very surprised that your doctor has you on percocet. Oxycontin with oxycodone hcl would be a much better combo for you. The oxycodone is for the breakthrough pain and most people are prescribed both. You could be getting sick from the opioids too. I know they make me very sick until my body full adjusts to the dose, and they do help with the pain. It all depends on the pain management doctor. They do not all treat you the same.
Avatar m tn I'm a 47 year old male who was diagnosed with a soft tissue sarcoma at the base of my spine in 2009. I've had numerous surgeries, one of which caused me to lose to use of my right foot. In order to keep my job, I had my leg amputated below the knee. Unfortunately that operation was botched by an incompetent surgeon and I'm no better off today than I was before the operation. Right after the amputation, the cancer came back to my lungs.
Avatar f tn He was on the Oxyfast liquid (Oxycodone HCL) this is equal to the Oxycotin pills. He was on them for 4 years. We are going to go after the doctor. I contacted an attorney yesterday. He went into the hospital with severe withdrawal symptoms and with him having a heart condition this turned into a very serious issue because he almost blew his aortic valve and he almost died.
Avatar f tn Three weeks ago Thursday I was proscribed 10 mg oxycodone hcl for a surgical procedure. I took the two pills four times a day the first week then two pills once to twice a day until last Friday. Since Saturday I have been experiencing awful conditions like sogginess, stomach pains, diarrhea, body aches, restlessness, extreme exhaustion, irritability. Am I going through withdrawals? If so, how long will this last?
Avatar f tn Please don't judge...I'm 33 weeks pregmant and have occasionally used oxycodone hcl 5mg for my back and leg pain...I was NOT prescribed them and was using my husbands without his knowledge...I have heard many stories about them being safe and doing no harm and also stories of baby withdrawing after birth...I.have mever gone thru withdraw myself from them because I don't believe I have done enough every month to become addicted...
Avatar f tn NOT oxymorphone dear, oxycodone. Oxycontin has the sole active ingredient oxycodone, Perocet has both oxycodone and acetaminophen...hence the "cet" suffix. Theres also Percoden which is oxycodone and asprin. Oxymorphone is a totally different drug 2x the strenth of oxycodone.

Avatar f tn I would like to ask a question of Dr. Lupo. I have chronic pancreatitis diagnosed as chronic 6 years ago. I am on stron pain meds and have to fight the insurance company to get them, sometimes not get them. I have increased pain in the last few months and the meds are just not cutting it. I have been to my gastro/pancreas specialist and had some tests done and I will be going on a transplant list. I am taking Methadone HCL 10 mg. 2 tabs 4x day & have been taking 600 mcg.
1434665 tn?1289855538 Help if you can. Detoxed a week ago from oxycodone 30mg hcl 2 tabs a day. This morning have chills. Is this normal? Am I still withdrawing from oxy even though I detoxed last weekend?
Avatar f tn two years ago i started using Oxycodone HCL 5 mg pills i wouldnt use everyday but by a year ago i started taking them everyday.. i take anywhere from 30 mg - 60 mg a day. i have a couple methadone 10 mg tab (5 to be exact) can i use them for a couple days to detox off this medication? or can you tell me what to do to detox of this stuff?
Avatar f tn and people I have talked to that are on the Opana they use the Opana IR for breakthrough with the Opana ER. Have you ever tried Oxycodone HCL (immediate release) 15mg, or 30mg tablets for breakthrough pain? I am on Morphine Sulfate and use the Oxycodone for breakthrough and it works well... until your body adapts to the oxycodone and you require an increase in the dose... that's my only hurdle with it.... good luck....
Avatar n tn last month when I went to my Pain Mgt doc he said it was time to look into a different med since i was taking so many Lortabs. He prescribed 30 mg Hcl Oxycodone to be taken 3x's a day.I had a couple of days worth of Lortabs then that was it.Well about the third day of stopping the Lortabs I started feeling funny.I started feeling like I had the Flu? I had no appetite,my blood pressure was high and my pulse was faster then it usually reads? I just wanted to sleep.I even had the sweats.
401786 tn?1309152034 I have a question for you then.... I am prescribed 10mg Oxycodone HCL. It is substituted for oxycontin in it's lowest miligram form. I was under the impression that this tablet only contained 10mg's of oxycodone but that the 10mg's was spread out over the "life" of the pill. I'm prescribed 3 of these tablets a day. Maybe I misunderstood your post but are you saying that these 10mg tablets contain 120mg's of oxycodone?
Avatar f tn -) So-since your doctor is not wanting you to have tylenol then your will probably be getting Oxycodone HCL (the opiate without tylenol). Oxycodone APAP is the stuff with tylenol. Either way, be careful and use it for the shortest time possible. Oxy WD's can be a bit worse than hydrocodone WD's (so people say-and I agree). Taper yourself down from the higher amounts of Oxy as you find yourself needing less of the meds to control the pain.
981443 tn?1250115802 It is approximately 6–8 times more potent than morphine, and is related to morphine in the same fashion that oxycodone is to codeine (being a derivative of thebaine). It differs from morphine in its effects in that it generates less euphoria, sedation, itching and other histamine effects. Depending on the individual patient, it can be either more or less nausea- and vomit-inducing than morphine.
