Oxycodone for tooth pain

Common Questions and Answers about Oxycodone for tooth pain

oxycontin

I had a tooth extracted in Sept.2010 and used Oxycodone for pain for 1 day. It worked just as it did for my surgery and it expired in Jan/2010. My Dr. at Moffitt Cancer center also said it was okay as well as my Dentist.
I would suggest that if you're having trouble sleeping, you talk to your doctor about the possibility of prescribing you something specificially for that, rather than savign some of your pain meds for that purpose. One last thing - just because your testing is being done through the government - the VA - that does NOT necessarily mean that their tests are top of the line or correct.
Anyway i ended up losing the darn tooth anyway!!! After all that money and pain, i went in crying and told him to pull it..That was the best releif!! wish i would of done that first..
My boyfriend and I have been taking both oxycontin and oxycodone for about 3 months on and off. Mostly on the last 6 weeks. I am now doing them in the morning before I leave the house. We are snorting them. We were taking about 80 to 120 mg a day. I stopped taking them last week for a few days and found my weakness unbearable. I could not even leave the house - no amount of caffeine would help.
My doctor said I could take up to 2400mg of motrin a day for a while to help with the pain. She also gave me a scrip for clonodine for my blood pressure which I have to watch. Your dose is high to jump from but certainly not a record here, not saying I won't really respect your toughness for pullin this off. I'm with ya man, I never never imagined this had a hold of me so hard physically. What an experience!
I dont want to scare you either but xanax is catagory x meaning it is known to cause birth defects and other serious issues like down syndrom or neural deffects in an unborn baby, I take oxycodone for chronic pain and my doc says it wil lnot harm the baby but we are working together to taper myself off enough prior to delivery that my baby should not experience withdrawl at least we hope I am still doubtful but I know at this point although so far I have managed to taper each month and still ha
His work paid for the doctors and therapists but his insurance was so greedy that they didn’t want to give him a surgery yet. So he was on pain meds for almost 1 year. We fought to no end because he would take more than prescribed. He used to say that he needed to take more because he used to have an addiction in his 20s and had already a high tolerance. Finally after a year, he went on surgery and after that the doctor gave him Oxys for like a month.
Like I said before, I've been taking them AS DIRECTED, which is 3 pills every 4-6 hours as needed for the pain. I'm taking them for both reasons, I won't lie to any of you.. I'm taking them because I'm in pain and I'm taking them because it makes me feel good, better, normal.. You name it. I had an unexpected phone call from my doctor several hours ago, because I'd placed the call for a refill request.
can't afford the sedation so just opting for a local. never had a tooth pulled before, hopefully i'll be fine? tooth is already out of gumline. any insight would be appreciated, just nervous here. thanks.
I know Percocet has 325 mg’s of Tylenol with 5 mg’s of Oxycodone. Better to get a higher dose of a strong pain med and less Tylenol. (A gram is 1000 mg.’s) I take under 1gram per day of Tylenol. I believe Percocet also comes in one with no Tylenol and just Oxycodone which may even be better. You can always take Tylenol with it if you need a little boost in your pain relief. A root canal is considered surgery and is not recommended on TX. You (may) heal slower.
Hello Ozworks: Other than dependance to the drug, lond term use can lead to poor concentration or memory loss. Some Doctors believe that increased muscle & joint pain is a direct result from long term use. Also, tooth decay and aging skin have been noted in long term use of opiates. Other than that, I don't know of anything else that I have heard of.
Help! I am in recovery from alcohol and drugs since 2001, I am in need of a root canal which is not scheduled until this thursday and am in constant pain and agony from my tooth hurting. i told my dentist that i am in recovery and he refuses to give me anything for pain for my tooth stating "he can't because I am in recovery" I am sooooo very frustrated and upset and resentful. Do addicts in recovery not have pain?
The hospital prescribed CLINDAMYCIN as the antibiotic and OXYCODONE for the pain. On Friday, I went to my dentist again and he said pulling the tooth was the best option. He did and I have been continuing to take the antibiotics and pain medication. My problem is that it is now Sunday and I am still having to take the pain medication every 3-4 hours and the lump in my jawline has barely gone down which I feel is causing most of the pain that I am experiencing.
Tylenol 3 is prescribed for Mild to moderatly sever pain, while Oxycodone is prescribed for Moderate to Severe pain which a fusion,my Father had one a few years back, still in some pain but had to take the Oxycodones for 6 months just to walk daily and be able to move because of the pain,he was then on Norco 5/325mgs for a year every 2 weeks got a refill but he started to abuse them(his lack of judgement and addictive atttitude).
If you just stopped now is not the time to use narcotics I would either find a new dentist or find alternatives until your appointment Motrin is more effective for tooth pain then narcotics .Your body wants its fix is you are going to have pain and it will feel worse at first .If you feed into that right now it will be very bad thing .
Hi while researching info on the same situation of testing positive for hydrocodone while taking oxycodone I came across your posts. I have been with my current pm doc for over 3 years for chronic neck pain due to 3 herniated discs and spinal stenosis, and have never had a drug test come back with any problems. I was tested on 7/8 before my usual appt, I take oxycontin 60mg. 3x daily for extended pain relief and percocet 5/325 for break thru and that is all.
During this time I also started taking antibiotics for the tooth. I took the Oxycodone and Hydrocodone for a couple weeks and then stopped due to problems with the drug. It was causing urinary retention and I was constipated for long periods of time (4-5 days). About the third week of none stop antibiotics I started to have a very upset stomach. So at this point I quit taking the antibiotic.
You may want your md to give you something for breakthrough pain because the opana is NO good for that! I had to change dr's before I could get one to understand my need for a resque med! Also in my opinion your dr should not just switch you over to opana without letting you ween down from the hydro's my dr didn't and I was in hell for a while with withdrawals biggg time!
I was prescribed this for back pain and I took 2 instead of one pill every 4 hours as needed for pain it's been an emotional roller coaster ever since. Taking 2 instead of one feels soooooo much better. And yes, I know exactly what you feel. At first no one knew, so it was soooo hard for me to live. I didn't know what I was gonna do. But you know what? Tellin' my hubby and my mom and dad actually made me feel better and gave me the strength to do what I have to do.
I take Tramadol PRN as well for my day-to-day pain needs. I have also taken narcotics for short periods of time when something exceptional was going on (injuries secondary to syncope, surgeries, kidney stone, etc.): vicodin, percocet, and oxycodone. Through IV in the hospital I have had morphine, dilaudid (supposedly 9x as strong as morphine when administered intravenously; same does not hold true for oral administration), and toradol.
I have never asked for increases or changes through PM and I have a appointment 2morrow and I need 2 know is it a legitamate request to ask for something without apap for the pain, more or less asked for something either by change or stay the same or increase for breakthru pain with small amount APAP and also ask for a extended release pain med no APAP to last me 24 hours.
Methylprednisolone 4mg, Oxycodone/APAP 10mg/325mg Tablets, Promethazine12.5mg Tablets, and Amoxicilliin 500mg. I started itching really bad and called my doctor and was told that it was the Amoxicillin and to stop taking it. Well, its 7 am day three and I am still itching and have a dry mouth. I haven't taken the Amox for just a little over 24 hours and I had stopped taking the Promethazine as well.
still clean off my 20-30 percocet habbit I am on day 12 clean...heres my questions...MY LEGS HURT!!! not like rls but pain its hard for me to walk for long peroids of times or be active at all...is this still part of the withdrawls? any input on this would be great I am going CRAZY!!!! thanks in advance!
I have also heard that Vicodin is a bit safer and I am on a new med called Lyrica which is actually for Diabetic patients but does a lot of good for the leg pain that goes hand in hand with the back pain. Maybe you could ask about that one.. Other than that, all I can suggest is that you get with your Pain Management Doc and tell him to get on the ball. You should NOT have to suffer needlessly if there is ANYTHING they can do. I sure hope you get some answers.
I know this for a fact because I went to the dentist once for a tooth issue. I told the dentist I didn't need any pain meds as I was already getting them for my back. He wrote the antibiotic and vicodin on the same script. I filled them and didn't think anything of it. About a month later I received a letter from my primary doctor stating that he had to drop me by law because I received narcotics from another doctor.
First let me say that you should never feel bad for taking pain medication when you need it. You have a genuine reason for pain and you should not have to apologize for needing to ease it through narcotics. In all actuality you are not taking a "real strong" medication. Yes it is supposedly stronger than Vicodin but there are many stronger opiates. And it is my suspicion that you require something more than the Oxycodone to control your pain.
Hi: I had a letter come to my home in regards to the Medications prescribed as well. Basically the Narcotics. They stated in the letter that they also sent one to my Doctor. All the Medications that I have had throughout the year was listed which most were opiates. This is all fine with me. The only Doctors name on the prescriptions were from my PCP who does all the prescribing. There were no other scripts from any other Doctors. I'm not sure why the Insurance Co's are doing this.
I do not abuse the medications, in fact my doctor is consistently telling me to take them as ordered because I take less than he recommends because the lesser dose does the job. I do not take oxycodone for pain but because my system is so weird it actually energizes me and helps me with my sleep apnea in that even if I do not feel rested, it will give me enough energy to function. I have never felt drowsy or "loopy" from any of my medications.
The endotontist filed the sealant down today, and prescribed Amoxicillan. I am also taking Oxycodone for the pain. I DO NOT want to lose my tooth but was told initially it is possible, I am scared. PLEASE advise. Extra filler squirting out ok? Pain stops when? Save tooth?
