1686743 tn?1306005451 For the last year I have been taking15 mg Morphine2 times a day, and 5mg Oxycodone HCI For pain in back and hips, and knee. At this dosage I have been getting some relief.Could one say that I'm chemically dependent. I'm 6 ft tall and 172 lbs. What is the suggested dosage for 61 yr old? I just had surgery in my chest and the pain level is 10 by times 10. they increased the oxy to 10 mg every 4 hrs and the Morphine 3 times a day 30 mg a day. with little effect.
Avatar f tn If your doctor does it properly, there should be no withdrawals. It was a big fear of mine as we switched meds a lot. But they have a conversion chart they use so it's not usually an issue. Also, talk to your pharmacist. They have a wealth of knowledge and can help allay an fears. Having a good relationship with your pharmacist is nearly as important as having a good relationship with your doctor. Which narcotic are you coming off and which are you switching to?
Avatar f tn ) for some medication for breakthrough pain (instant release, or fast acting) such as percocet, oxycodone, vicoden, etc. I like oxycodone for breakthru pain the best because there is no tylenol in it to worry about. Quick release morphine is also a very effective fast acting painkiller.

725248 tn?1316162245 I have a question about other pain meds. My pain doctor has me on 20mg oxycodone twice a day and up to 6-10/325 norco a day, prior to the oxycodone he had me on 15mg oxycontin twice a day. I am not getting any pain relief from the oxycontin or oxycodone, the norco does give me some pain relief, but am limited to 6 a day as to not damage my liver. What other long acting pain meds are out there???
217599 tn?1202850952 my husband just had major back surgery, and the dr. prescribed oxycodone for the pain. he really needs it, but we are wondering how long he can take it before he becomes addicted. not that he wants to take it, he just can't stand the pain without it. his incision is 10 inches long, down the middle of his back. he is also itching a lot. could that be from the drug?
403156 tn?1290150018 For the mood chart, it would be nice to have the option to add medications ourselves. There are so many different meds out there, the list provided doesn't cover them all, and it would be hard to keep up with them. The option should be to enter the name of the med ourselves. The tracker is great, but more med options is needed. Is this function already there and I am not seeing it?
Avatar n tn The potent ingredient in any opiate compound is the opiate. 5mg of Oxycodone is exactly that - 5 mg. Her doctor was trying to lower her dosage, which may or may not be effective...pure Oxycodone (AKA Roxycodone) is "rapid delivery," and is released into one's bloodstream within minutes, unlike Percocet, the delivery of which takes approximately 30 minutes. It COULD work as well for her - (faster!!) but...well, every body is different.

Avatar n tn what heart medications is he taking? What is the dosage (amount/frequency) of the oxycodone? How long has this been happening as is it all the time or just sometimes?
Avatar f tn I have cervical dystonia in my neck, fibromyalgia, endometriosis, and hidertitis supperteva (sp?). I had been taking 20 mg opana 2x day along with 30 mg Oxycodone 4x day. My pain management doctor changed my dosage this last month to 40 mg opana 2x day and 30 mg Oxycodone 3x day. I have been on opiate pain medication for about 6 years, pretty much continuously. My problem is that since the dosage change, it seems like the medication is not lasting long enough.

Avatar m tn cant obtain gabapentin anymore and would like to transfer to oxycodone 120mg daily as a substitute for buprenorphine and gabapentin.I would like to know is such change possible.
Avatar f tn I can tell you from research and experience that Methadone is sometimes prescribed along with moderate dosages of Oxycodone as an alternative to increasing the dosage of Oxycodone. Methadone acts as a potentiator, increasing the efficacy of the Oxycodone due to increased tolerance. I have been on the on all three medications with no issue for some time now.
Avatar m tn Hi I went to an opioid conversion chart, it said 20mg. I am not sure if I am allowed to link this but will try. https://opioidcalculator.practicalpainmanagement.com/index.
Avatar f tn Ive been on Oxycodone for 5 years. My dosage has slowly increased from 40mg day to 120 mg day. Sad thing is i am still in pain and I don't remember my pain EVER being tgis bad bedore I went on any medication. I have RA and FMS and I'm also doing infusions for my RA. I've decided I'm sick of being broke due to paying for my pain management Dr and still being in pain. My life revolves around how many pain pills I have and I've missed out on so much.
1137363 tn?1260714411 s no way to enter that into this chart) and (2) the ability to add the dosage, rather than just indicating that there's been a change in treatment. I suppose the second aspect could be kept in the journal, but with no way to enter the levothyroxin in the chart, it looks like I haven't been on meds for 5 years.
