I was recently prescribed Oxycodone for pain due to a head injury/neck pain, and take a fairly small dose with Tylenol 3 (tylenol with codiene) and was wondering what the side effects should be and how long would I have to be taking it before coming addicted to it?
I stopped taking oxycodone because of constipation. I'm having terrible withdrawal, and may need them to manage the pain from my knee surgery. Ok to restart my prescription?

ve been diagnosed with RSD and have been on Demerol, hydrocodone, oxycodone and Lyrica. After seeing what works and what doesn't, I am currently only taking the oxycodone(2-7.5 every 4-6 hrs) and Lyrica(3-75 mg a day). The side effects I'm experiencing are constipation and my libido is mia. I can deal with the constipation, but at 45 and married, the libido change has GOT to be corrected.
Yes I remember the horrible constipation. Laxatives never worked for me. It's funny the only thing that did was a very large glass of warm prune juice. I'd go within 2-3 hours completely emptying me. I'd have to do that every 3 days. I was on oxycodone for 11 years and been off for just over 3 months. I did it cold turkey with the help of this web forum and AA meetings. How long have you been using and what do you take?

Actually, clean opiates, once off them and through the w/d don't leave permanent damage. At least I know that is true for plain morphine, oxycodone because it is synthetic I don't know... that is just the body. The emotional, mental aspects can take longer, but I found after 10 years of addiction to morphine, once I was off I felt completely normal after about 6 months... Functional after 1 month. The first 2 weeks off I was very messed up.

m on percocets and i know that can cause constipation. about 5 yrs ago i had a hernia with a bowel obstruction and had to have emergency surgery. alot of this pain reminds me of that situation. i took milk of magnesia and still haven't gone to the bathroom. i had a fever last night and also had the chills. i was very thirsty also but not sure if it was because i had chinese food and that it was very salty. i feel the urge to go to the bathroom but nothing comes out.
This issue begun about a 1.5 months ago after i had ulcer pain and used oxycodone for about two weeks and then stopped. Ever since I have been having really bad constipation and paradoxical diarrhea. It makes me get up 3-4 times at night to have constipated loose bowel movements (it takes a long time, i have to strain, but the stool usually comes out loose). For this reason i am pretty sleep deprived.

I was prescribed Targin (which is basically Oxycontin with naloxone in it - helps with the constipation) and Endone (immediate release oxycodone). In summary, the pain got worse and worse, I kept having my dose of Targin upped to 40mg twice a day plus I was taking probably 20 - 30mg of Endone on top of that for break-through pain.
I assume the oxycodone is PRN? After three days without Oxycodone in your system I doubt there will be any significant residual to show on the Drug Screen.
You should be taking a daily stool softener or something similar like a bulking agent to avoid the kind of constipation you describe. Be sure and discuss this with your Physician. The two of you can determine what will work best.
She has been on 100mg MS x3 and Oxycodone 5mg x 8 for breakthrough pain. She has recently had a neurostimulator implanted which seems to have been quite successful and now wants to begin reducing the opiates and get rid of their side effects. She is 80 years old and has high blood pressure.
What protocol would be good to reduce the drugs? Is there a standard model to follow? I know it will probably not be possible to eliminate them completely because the neurostimulator is not perfect.
I have been taking 7.5mg of oxycodone hcl for the last 3 years, as a result of a failed ankle transplant which is now collapsing. I often snort the dose in belief that it will more quickly ease my pain, which is excruciating in the mornings. I have decided i no longer want to be taking this stuff for whatever reason. I had hip replacement surgery last week and have been on oxycodone for three months prior to that. It is really amazing my pain is completely almost gone, with the exception of a little soreness. Morphine 15mg, Oxycodone 10/325mg, Xanax .25 mg, and Zoloft 100mg. I have been taking the Morphine and Oxy 3xs/day, 8am, 2pm and 8pm. I take my Zoloft at 8am and my Xanax at 8pm. I also take a stool softener for constipation and have to take Tylenol now and then when I get the Morphine headache. Now that I have read several questions and answers, I will no longer take the Morphine and Oxy together, I didn't realize that they are the same thing basically.
ok i unfortunately broke my thumb 3 weeks ago at work and i was prescibed oxycodone 5s for pain .i just finished the bottle and i feel like im going to die i feel like i got the flu a friend was telling me im going through withdrawals and to take immodium ad to help relieve them .my question is if immodium ad really works for withdrawals.
s fine. Becoming dependent on oxycodone has left me worried about trying anything that says you need to taper off it, even if it's not a narcotic. I had tried Cymbalta for pain in the past and was never told there can be withdrawal from that and was surprised to find that out when I went off it. I'm hoping when I'm finished with my taper I can treat the pain with OTC medication along with some topical gels.
