My dr. Just stopped me cold turkey from fiorinal3 that he knows I have taken for over 15 years or more. I go to a pain management dr. Who told me in the beginning that he want family dr. To handle my migraine and tension headache medicine. But noe he told me to get it plain without codeine. Well the family dr. Refuses to fill it PERIOD. THE Pain management dr. Won't fill it until next apt. A month from now. So were im at now is the f.dr.
i want to quit taking oxycodone 30 but im scared to death of the pain every1 is talkin about as im already in pain and dont need any more to deal with. i take 60-120mg per day ( depending on the day and what level my pain is that day) for different conditions. what is the danger in stopping this drug cold turkey? and can it even be done cold turkey? i understand i will have leg & jerks, how long will this last? how long will it take to detox? is it days or weeks?
the sickness is ten times worst than the flu. Have you ever went cold turkey before? Google the Thomas recipe if your going cold turkey. Question when you say your sharing. Are you spliting the pill and still snorting. That's really bad on your sinuses. I would recommend taking them orally from now on. And really cut back. I mean go down to maybe four a day then three and so.forth. if you do what I'm doing get ready for a shizzy three to four days. Drink lots and lots of liquid.
sweetie coming off methadone n oxycodone cold turkey can be very dangerous. you need to be tapered down. I would contact the physician that use to prescribe those to you and ask for help, if you use to get those on the street reach out to detox center in your area, dont do this alone, not cold turkey.
I stopped for around 48hours and was aching all over, very weak with elevated blood pressure. I am worried that I cant do it cold turkey and that I will hurt the baby if I do. I know I need to tell my ob gun but do not know how to go about it after all I have already been to the ob twice and chickened out of telling them. There will be no problem with the baby if you do gentle tapering of your oxycodone. Do not quit cold turkey, just space out the oxys, until you take only at nights, then half at night, then none. Do it over a few weeks. You may have some withdrawals, but it will not affect the fetus negatively. Stay hydrated and eat healthy. Rest as much as you can and make sure that once you stop, you do not take any more. If you have any more question, please feel free to ask me again.
I was on Opana 20mg x 4 a day and Dilaudid 8mg x 6 a day and wd cold turkey over the course of about a week. This took place about 3 weeks ago. I had back surgery 2 weeks ago and went back on 15mg Oxycodone IR's x 10 a day. I've been on them at this dose for most of about the last two weeks. What I want to know is how bad the wd's will be.
It is good that you want to stop. Do you want to go cold turkey or taper? How many are you currently taking per day?

Got to the point i was taking them for the feeling they gave me and not the pain. But i went cold turkey and stopped it for a few months. Ended up needing another surgery and was in the best time in my life so told dr was in pain before surgery so he gave me more 10-325 oxy. But this time i didnt feel the high. It felt different but kept taking them searching for the high. Surgery was over and almost healed so after 3 months went cold turkey again but this time its different.
I have gone cold turkey off this drug at least 6 to 7 times, I used to take 4-5 80mg oxicotin pills per day, usually 2 in the morning & one in the after noon, then another two in the evenings, I was so hooked it was horrible, I detoxed off it & usually felt fine after 3 to 4 days, but always went back.
Tipilot- I was taking 60mg mscontin 3x a day along with 5mg methadone 3x a day and had wonderful relief, I had a prescription for oxycodone but could not afford to fill it. But because I no longer have health insurance my pain doc won't see me anymore so I have had to stop all my meds cold turkey...NO FUN. Good luck and keep us posted.
Then i took 3 oxycodone 15s. I have been experiencing cold sweats, runny eyes, aches, irritability, anxiety, and irregular tiredness. How long does this withdrawl last? I've decided to stop cold turkey, is that dangerous. I tried to wean myself off before and was unsuccessful. thats why I belive cold turkey is best for me.
I would tapper off.....at least that is what I have done. Cold turkey is hell for me and I cannot stand it. I have also done suboxone but did not get addicted like I have heard on this site. Mainly because when I started, the pharmacy charged me like my insurance covered it. When I went back for a refill, it was so expensive and I didn't have the money so I just got a weeks worth and tapered down on the suboxone.
I have tapered from 90mgs per day to 20 mgs per day over the last 3 months. Now I am contemplating whether to go cold turkey or continue the taper.........but here is the thing. My wife thinks I finished my taper 1 month ago and it would be catastrophic for my relationship if she discovers I am still taking pain meds. I had throat and neck cancer and still have pain, but I can handle the pain non-narcotically.

I was taking about the same amount as you for about 5 years.
You have done an extremely fast taper and that is why you are feeling so bad. You should either go cold turkey or slowly reduce your intake over a long period of time.
I found that the withdrawals were bad for 3 to 4 days from the time of the LAST pill I took. You are probably feeling pretty bad already.
