oxycodone back pain

Hello Brandon, I am sorry your back hurts. Pain is a horrible companion. Have they determined what is causing of your back pain? If you are having soft tissue pain they often will not prescribe narcotics, especially if you are young. And that may be the reason for the other medications. If you have a "pinched nerve" or spinal injury and your physician will not listen to you, fire him. Yes we hire these physicians to treat us.

What do you do for back and hip pain? I have a lot of back and hip pain/pressure when I try to sleep and I've barely slept in 4 weeks. I use a heading pad, warm showers, a body pillow, and sleep with a pillow between my knees for support and nothing seems to help. I'm 24w1d.

hydrocodone or oxycodone? I have not heard good things about oxycodone, so I would be hesitant to try it but I am curious which works better for you. I want to be on the lowest dose possible (of whichever my doctor sees fit) that is sufficient enough to do everyday activities. Is there anything you have tried that you felt works for you that I should ask my doctor about?

I have very bad back and knee pain. I have had both knees operated on and have been able to avoid back surgery so far. I have been taking percoset for pain but I was wondering if Oxycontin would be better for me due to my Hep C. The percoset I take is 10/325. I am just getting sick of all the acetaminophen, "spell check" I am taking. This cant be good for my liver. So my question is, what would a pain management doctor prescribe? Percoset or Oxycontin?

If you do not recieve pain management and get your pain under control and lower your stress, I cannot help you." So here I am, does a formor addict deserve to be in pain for the rest of their lives? Our family's concerns more important than quality of life? Should I spend the next 50 years in pain, unable to enjoy life because I might disappoint someone?

Well my new neurosurgeon finally decided to revisit fixing my back. My pain doc ordered a new MRI and it showed my back had gotten worse and it gave my neuro doc something to go on. He fused from my L4 down to my S1 and then cleaned out the nerve roots and was suppose to remove the synovial cyst, this was done on the January 5th. I was on the table for 6 hours, when I woke up I was in so much pain. They had me on 60mg morphine 3 X a day, 15mg oxycodone 10 X a day, 5mg valium 3 X a day.

I have had about 12 years of chronic pain, slowly over the years I have progressed to about 8-10 oxycodone 10/325 a day along with klonopin. I am about to go through major back surgery and am worried about heavier doses of oxycontin or mscontin with major addiction problems. anyone going through the same thing?

My question(s) are primarily about pain treatment for my neck and back. I will start with what happened, what I was given, what I'm on, and where I'm currently at. After sustaining Bi-Lateral wrist fractures i.e. (Left & Right Triquetrium, & Left and Right Styloid) in addition to a CV3 fracture, I was hospitalized for almost a year at Walter Reed Army Medical Center where I was to recover.

I was doing fine then he started lowering my meds. He put me on 1 60mg of morphine er and oxycodone 15mg every 6 hours. My pain is horrible and put me back in bed. I told him that I'm hurting so bad again now and at least with the morphine er twice a day and oxycodone 15 mg I could at least do some things. Again he wants to even lower me more to morphine er 30mg once a day and lower my oxycodone to 10mg every 6 hours.

It has to do with the FDA schedule that the drugs are on. Hyrocodone and codeine are Schedule III narcotics which can be called in by a doctor. Percocet/oxycodone is a Schedule II narcotic which means that it's a step up on the ladder from hydrocodone in strength and therefore cannot be called in.

my husband just had major back surgery, and the dr. prescribed oxycodone for the pain. he really needs it, but we are wondering how long he can take it before he becomes addicted. not that he wants to take it, he just can't stand the pain without it. his incision is 10 inches long, down the middle of his back. he is also itching a lot. could that be from the drug?

oxycodone, valium, tylenol (650mg) and ibuprofen (200mg). at the hospital the tylenol and ibuprofen were scheduled meds and i was only given oxycodone and valium when i requested them. any ideas on when i should take each? need to take tylenol every 6 hours. should i take oxy with tylenol, or valium with tylenol? or with ibuprofen (every 4 hours). i dont want to take more than i need to.

So I have severe back pain and my dr. Has prescribed me a low dose of oxycododone, 5 mg to be exact. He says its safe to take during pregnancy and while Breastfeeding as long as its taken as needed and not regularly but im hesitant to put any narcotic in my body while pregnant. I'm sitting here in agony with a pill in my hand debating whether or not to take it. Has anyone else taken it during pregnancy and had any issues related to it?

They are the same. Roxicodone is just a brand name for oxycodone. The oxycontin is extended release so it helps keep your pain level and then when you have breakthrough pain the instant release oxycodone will hit it hard and fast to get it under control. Only taking the instant release can be bad because you can have a lot of ups and downs, like during sleep it will wear off and you will wake up in a ton of pain and probably in withdrawals, with the ER it will keep you level through the night.

One day I went to get up off the waxing table and I couldn't get up.. Had to get rushed to the hospital.. I have a lump on my back and my MRI keeps getting denied by insurance . I'm in pain management and she put me on 5mg oxycodone 4x/day and it was helping a little in the beginning but now I find my self having to be in pain during day so I can take 2 at night just so I can lay down and fall asleep. The pain becomes unbearable.

Percocet has oxycodone in it rather than the hydrocodone in Vicodin. Oxycodone is stronger than hydrocodone. In my experience, the oxy worked better and I had less side effects (upset stomach and "dumb" feeling).

THIS ISN'T REALLY A QUESTION, BUT A COMMENT! ----- My pain doctor has stopped writing any and all prescriptions for oxycontin and oxycodone. She was suspicious why some patients only wanted oxycontin or oxycodone for their pain, as well as patients claiming it's the only drug(s) that helped their pain. I understand the suspicion, and would wonder about the same thing myself, considering all the different pain medications available nowadays.

i take one oxycodone-acetaminophen 5-325 everyday for my back is it safe to take everyday or would it hurt be in the long run

My doc also switched me to dilaudid for back and joint pain as it is less addictive than oxycodone, no acetaminophen like T3's and has minimal effect on the liver. Here in Canada acetaminophen is acceptable up to 4 g/day with a healthy liver. At 650mg every 4 hr you are getting roughly 3.25 g/day so I would definitely switch to the dilaudid. All in all less is better for your liver anyway.

I have tried all medications ranging from muslce relaxers all the way up to oxycodone. Nothing helps the pain. Ice makes it worse heat makes it worse. I cant lay down for a long period of time or even sit for a long period of time. All the doctors are confused and have basically given up.

I feel your pain on this situation because just like you i have VERY VERY easy access to pain meds anytime i want them due to back problems and two major back surgeries but the main thing is getting that out of your head because that is the addict in you using your problems as an excuse for taking the meds and you will find out just like i did that once you get clean your pain will be WAY WAY less than it was while on the pain meds because once your brain is addicted to the narcotics it will lit

one year ago contracted hep b liver function tests come back ok i take 15mg of oxycodone daily why is side effects more bothersome now doc says i have built antobodies

Oxycodone/roxycodone? Are you taking this? Fentanyl and roxicodone/oxycodone all all opiates. That's a lot if taken together. It just depends...

I am trying to get on a pain management. I can not take oxycodone with acetemetaphine due to head aches and the oxycodone pill form gives me the bad mood changes. What about the oxycodone capsule? I have to go to the doctors in a couple of hours and think I may ask her about the capsules but I'd like to hear some input.
