Common Questions and Answers about Oxycodone and aleve

oxycontin

I have been taking a few different types of oxycodone pills since july and its now december. I have a vascular malformation on my right hip and have had 2 alcohol ablation treatments beginning of july and end of august. I have had wound care since the beginning of september due to skin collapse at several locations. Now I am getting to the point where I have good days and bad days and I am not sure what I should do to try and reduce the medication.
I am a RN and thought you might like a little respectful education regarding oxycodone and pregnancy. FIrst, it is known to cause 0 effects to a developing baby. It is Cat- B same as tylenol. So anyone who has taken a tylenol during pregnancy has took the same risk. Second, the effects of pain- increased B/P, pulse, and anxiety are known to cause distress to the baby and placenta.
i took Vic's /Soma 50mg /day Body aches and zero energy were the worst symptom for me,,,, I took Aleve and a lot of baths,,,, (i was clean thats for sure) ;-) Music saved me along with walks,,,,, I ate a lot of stouffers entree's because they were easy to make and no dishes... were here for ya.
Thanx for your reply! I am taking aleve and benadryl also. I don't care about diarrhea because honestly it's nice to not be constipated....gross, sorry! I just wish for sweet sleep...benadryl isn't helping! Wish me luck because here goes nothing! I will keep you updated!

I've always been in it for the high. I was at 120mg of oxycodone and now I'm down to 60mg and working toward 45mg which I will quit cold turkey from. And I snort it all, I have been for 2 years. I'm married and my wife does it as well and let me tell you it absolutely kills any feelings or sex drive you have! Basically what I'm saying is there are a lot of us out here who take these pills and are battling every day with then so u r not alone.
I'm a 26 year old mother of 4 and for the last few months I've been taking Oxycodone. Started at 5mg every 6 hours and right now I'm up to 15 mg every 4 hours. The reason I have been forced to withdrawal is because no pharmacy in my area has any 15mg Oxy's right now.. I honestly don't feel like I was abusing them but going thru this again (this is the 2nd time..I caved last time and had my husband find me one until the next day when I was able to get my Rx filled)..
I went back to my primary care doc for regular visit and he put me on the 5 mg oxycodone on 3-15-10. He said take as needed...but only gave me 100 to last 30 days. So, I could not take it as I was taking the Loratab ...1 every 4 hrs, or I would not have enough to last. I ask the nurse why and she said the doctor would not order more than the 100. I can't deal with living afraid I will not be able to get the med and I will be thrown into withdrawal.
It puts the mother's body into shock no matter what your usage is and can cause pre term labor and/or miscarriage. If you are early ini your pregnancy, be honest with your dr and allow him/her to wean you VERY slowly. The drugs that normally would be prescribed to anyone coming off of opiates (valium, xanax, klonopin etc.) are EXTREMELY UNSAFE at any time during your pregnancy. They are all a category X and can and most likely will cause defects or brain activity reduction.
The numbness is almost constant in both feet and my right arm and hand. The pain in my neck and shoulders (cape area) is horrible and I have to take narcotics daily, and am still in pain. The pressure in my head is much worse, and is now in the front and top of my head. And my eyes are very painful...I can't really look to the side, up, or down without a lot of pain and discomfort. Only straight ahead.
I want to taper off oxycodone 30 how can I do the with 14 oxycodone 10 I'm so tired of running out before dr visit for my back and shingle pain damage please help I have soma aleve and immodium thanks so much for any advice!!!!
com/content/view/0002336/82/ The study of 145 healthy volunteers at two US medical centers compared a placebo, Extra Strength Tylenol and prescription painkillers that contain acetaminophen -- such as Percocet, which is a combination of acetaminophen and oxycodone, an opioid painkiller. Patients took the medication or placebo every six hours for 14 days.
What kind of prescription medicine can I take for pain for a bulging disc pressing on a nerve in my spine and grinding hip sockets due to a shorter leg that isn't so hard on my liver? I have bad reactions to neurological medications.
I kept getting worn out and thought it was pnuemonia relapse and finally just had to go to the doctor and look for something because I was too wasted to go to work. Really upset I read the symptoms wrong and so late. Now I am waiting for my biopsy and million dollar blood tests to come back and have them phone me to come in and see them. Maybe I'll phone them tomorrow. I would be asking if there are alternative pain killers for your knee replacement.
I have liver problems and don,t like to take tynelol...Was on oxycodone for 11/2 yrs. but recently got off of it. Big time hip pain...
I am on week 15 of treatment. Type 3a. 9 weeks to go. I had minor aches and pains the first 3 months but lately the Aches have gotten a lot worse and the 400 mil of Advil isn't working anymore. I will see my GI tommorrow . Does anyone have any suggestions on a pain Medication that will help. A friend gave me some Vicodin and that really helped me, but I don't know if the DR. will prescribe it for me.
Curing hep c is believed to stop the chronic joint pain caused by cryo.I'm on oxycodone, Avinza, and Lyrica plus an occasional advil and Tylonol to relieve pain- it works. I have insurance and go to a pain managment specialist as per my Rheumatologist and Hepatologist who jointly discovered the cryo as the source of my pain.
Lay on the heating pad, take 1200mg a couple times during the day of motrin, aleve... etc I know not good for your stomach or liver and kidneys. But what do you do? No medical insurance. No falls, strains in the back etc..... So at times weeks may pass even months before the pain would comes back. When it comes the level of pain is on the increase, seems to be with each episode it somewhat elevates.
I didn't take the one for day because I was already on day 5 detox from 80 mg. oxycodone and I was not sure abt the ingredients. But the nite time cap sure helped with sleep albeit with some bad dreams. Good luck!!!
Like I said I did take two but that was after ibuprofen and aleve didnt help. It was strange only taking one at a time for a change. There was 2 teenagers died this week after an oxycodone OD. 15 yrs old each. Such a waste. I wish everyone on here the best of luck and thanks for everything. Yall was alot of help during the first week especially.
I have had 2 hip surgeries in the past year and now that I'm pregnant and getting farther along it is starting to become unbearable. I don't want my baby to be addicted to pain killers but it's getting to the point where i can't even work.
There are days my pain is unmanageable but it's usually no worse than when I was on Fentanyl and oxycodone, as well as Neurontin, Cymbalta and more. My pain doc at the time was not helpful in me coming off meds but I did get some great support here even though I wasn't an addict in the true sense of the word. I have lost most function in my left hand and my right hand isn't far behind. Good luck. It is doable, though challenging at times.
Percocet is a combination of acetominophen (sp?) or tylenol, and Oxycodone. It is a pretty strong narcotic pain reliever - not nearly as strong as Morphine, Demerol, Fentanyl, Dilaudid, etc. - but a big jump from Darvon/Darvocet, or Codiene; and a little stronger than Hydrocodone (as in Vicodin).
So, if you have been on oxycodone for 6 years and this is working fine for you and you do not need massive dose increments, then ideally you should continue with it. Apart from oxycodone there are other strong opioid pain killers such as codeine, morphine, fentanyl, hydrocodone etc. They are available both as pills and as patches especially fentanyl. You can also add ibuprofen or naproxen (Aleve) to your current prescription if you need more pain relief.
I take an anti-depressant, Gabapentin, short and long acting opioid formulations, a benzodiazepine, a muscle relaxer, and a low dose of Aleve to manage my pain everyday. Each type of medication helps about 5-10%, when they are added together they give me 75% - 90% pain relief with the actual amount of pain relief varying throughout the day.
I take 600 mg in the morning, along with two OTC Aleve, and one Oxycodone and the sciatica pain is completely gone within an hour and doesn't come back until late afternoon. I admit, I am also on the Fentanyl patch but I have been taking Gabapentin well before I started the patch and I know it was very effective for my nerve pain prior to starting Fentanyl. Good luck to you. Surgery to be a last resort option.
I can't seem to do anything anymore unless I have something in me to get the day going! I've taken everything from oxycodone, hydrocodone, tylenol 3, morphine, and I've even resorted to some duragesic patches that were given to my husband and they were to strong for him. I like the way they make me feel when I drink with them. I want to quit cold turkey but I'm afraid of the withdrawls. How long does it take and am I in danger If I do it myself?
I know this is hard but after I came off all this stuff my pain level went from 9-10 down to 3-4 and only needing to take Aleve for the pain! If you have access to the pills you will find every excuse to get them. The physical with drawls are hard but the mental are even harder! Trust me cut all your sources! Remember 1 is too many and 1000 is never enough! Keep us posted please and we are routing for you!! Life is so much better sober! and you are worth it!!
My doctor had been giving me pain killers, Darvocette, oxycodone, hydrocodone, percocette and flexeril......recently she claimed that a drug test she did on me showed "Opium" in my blood,.....I have no idea how this could have happened because I have no "Opium"...didnt that go out in the early 70s?.....
Hydrocodone seems to work like codeine/morphine without all the alkaloid-related side effects like stomach aches and nausea. Oxycodone seems to be hydro's "big brother." I think hydro and oxy are synhesized from thebane which in one of he subtances constituting actual opium. I have to connfess, I'd like to expereiene just once the classic "opium den" pipe smoking, like you see if you caught Sergio Leoni's move, Once upon a Time in America.
