oxcarbazepine effects

I just started OXCARBAZEPINE. I am really sick. I am on 600mg at night. I woke up this morning with a headache and I have felt like I have the flu all day. I cannot eat or drink anything. I'm exausted. Does anyone have experience with this med? How long will these symptoms last? I have to somehow work tomorrow. I am getting so tired of being sick and tired. I'm not depressed. I'm just coming back from hell. I had major surgery. It made me have a severe manic episode.

I am taking tablets for my minor neural problem for the past 4 years, The tablets i am consuming are Oxcarbazepine (Trileptal) -300mg and Levetiracetam (keppra) -250mg. Now I am looking for a tablet which should have both of this content in the same. I feel guilty that I am taking more tablets and my health condition is improved now. so I planned to reduce my tablet dosage. so I look over this- i.e.

Have been taking Carbamezapine and lately Gabapentine, which both cause Erectile Disfunction. Have read that Oxcarbazepine does not have this side effect. Have not convinced my neurologist to let me switch meds. What success have people had using Oxcarbazepine for TN, and does it also cause ED? I don't want to use either carbamezapine or gabapentine if possible.

has been trying differnt Bi-polar meds on me and after many trial and errors he has put me on oxcarbazepine, after all the bad affects I have been through mixing other meds with the suboxone I am scared to go trough it all agin does anyone know if these two meds mix ok? I am on 8mg subs 3Xs aday. any help would be great!

Trileptal (oxcarbazepine) does not usually lead to hypertrophy/swelling of glands. But there is a mention of allergic reactions to trileptal. Here is an extract from www.trileptal.com about this particular side effect. "......Anaphylaxis and angioedema has been reported.......other allergic reactions. Angioedema is characterized by swelling of the faces, eyes, lips or tongue, or difficulty swallowing or breathing.......

During those times I had not yet been diagnosed and was able to go back to life like normal, however after the diagnosis and being on phenytoin and switching to oxcarbazepine i am feeling awful. Dizzy, nauseated, moody, extremely tired, severe headaches that come and go. All i get from my Neurologist is these are side effects that will eventually go away. Because i never know when these symptoms will come on too strong I have missed a lot of days at work during my probation period.

I just started taking oxcarbazepine 9 days ago and I built up to 300 mg,no high not even close.Not like with other drugs like oxycontin, were with in 30 min you get a buzz.I guess you have to take higher doses if thats were you want to go,but I dont know.

With all 3 of those meds, and especially Oxcarbazepine, you can find discussions online about amenorrhea, which means your periods stop. You might want to discuss this with your doctor, as websites suggest, if you're taking these medications and your menstrual period changes. Best wishes.

I am allergic to it. (my rash is seen in my photos if you need it). For me, the side effects are worse than TN itself for me, but others have said it's life changing. Other people have listed Trileptal (Oxcarbazepine), Neurontin (Gabepentin), Elavil (Amitriptyline) and Lyrica (Pregabalin) as some alternatives. I am currently on Lyrica + Cymbalta. I can't say that it's working but still playing with dosages.

You can't always blame the drugs. Oxcarbazepine has different effects and side effects in different people. I also use it and has no issues YET, except the grogginess and drowsiness in the first week. Hope we all do good.

i am confused now because this is rather sudden and my son is used to the valparin now and has no side effects as such. the doctor says that this is for better seizure control since eeg is abnormal but the eeg has been abnormal for the past 8 years then why now? i am all confused and when i told the doctor i will change medication only during vacation time so that i can moniter him.

I looked at Zithromax side effects, they vary by the dosage, single or multiple doses, doses in combination with another drug, and are listed as pre-marketing trials and post-marketing reports. Rhythm issues were reported less than 1% of the time in pre-marketing trials, and also in post-marketing reports. Post marketing reports are apparently voluntary and often include things clearly not related to the drug.

If the side effects look scary, go look up the full side effects profile for an OTC drug you use often (like ibuprofen), which will give you an idea of how scary the full side effects profiles sound.

My doctor switched me to oxcarbazepine and that stopped the issue. The one extra oxygen molecule somehow helped the situation. Ask your doctor to make the adjustment and see if that helps.

I’m on levetiracetam aka keppra and clobazam aka onfi. When I was on oxcarbazepine (trileptal) and levetiracetam (keppra) I started having these weird headaches where I would lose my vision, hearing, smell, and coordination, but I could still speak and feel. The doctors are pretty much stumped. Has anyone ever had a situation like this?

Hi JKJ, I have a similar case of frontal lobe epilepsy with similar pattern of seizures occurring only during sleep, a male patient, 14 years of age, who has been on oxcarbazepine i.e Trileptal ( oxrate here in India) for the last few months and we did observe disturbances in his memory. The episodes of memory disturbances increased as we increased the dose, but it wasn’t so worse as in the first instance. We already tried Tegretol (carbamazepine) for him and it didn’t work.

Within the last two months, I have been experiencing burning and pain in my right foot (including toes). I am taking oxcarbazepine, is this a side affect or does it mean I need to increase the dose.

Anyone had any withdrawal side effects relating to Trileptal? Any suggestions in dealing with it? Anyone who has dealt with the same thing? My symptoms are that I am having horrible anxiety, insomnia and irritability since reducing my dosage of Trileptal this week. Backstory: I am switching from Trileptal to Lamictal over a long period of time.

d want to increase it, not decrease it. A Seroquel increase is probably a better thing to try first. And side effects often decrease after a couple of weeks. If it's available where you are, Latuda (lurasidone) just got approval for bipolar depression. It might be too expensive, though. Also, have you tried lamotrigine? Abilify is another good suggestion.

I know the meds we all take have many side effects. I was wondering if any of the meds cause severe acne problems. I am in my 30s and still have acne problems. Please help.

I am currently taking carbamazepine for BP disorder type II, and I noticed it's getting hard to breath, l had the same symptom a few months back, went to several especialists but none of them found any respiratory or circular problem. It turned out to be zopiclone I was taking to sleeping. I am not taking zopiclone anymore. Now the only medications I am taking are carbamazepine for BP II and anti inflammatory for my sciatica. Any ideas?

carbamazepine, clobazam, lamotrigine, levetiracetam, oxcarbazepine and topiramate. These medications rarely stop the seizures completely but reduce the frequency and severity of them. I hope this helps, my prayers are with you and your son.
