I am taking tablets for my minor neural problem for the past 4 years, The tablets i am consuming are Oxcarbazepine (Trileptal) -300mg and Levetiracetam (keppra) -250mg. Now I am looking for a tablet which should have both of this content in the same. I feel guilty that I am taking more tablets and my health condition is improved now. so I planned to reduce my tablet dosage. so I look over this- i.e.
Have been taking Carbamezapine and lately Gabapentine, which both cause Erectile Disfunction. Have read that Oxcarbazepine does not have this side effect. Have not convinced my neurologist to let me switch meds. What success have people had using Oxcarbazepine for TN, and does it also cause ED? I don't want to use either carbamezapine or gabapentine if possible.
My daughter has a bipolar disorder II with hypoomanic features,and I was also told she was mental ill,antisocial personality disorder,borderline personality disorder,signs and symptoms of schizophrenis,oppositional defiant disorder. She have been in and out of hospital and on a lot of different meds. Seroquel, risperadae, Lithem ,Zyprexz,hydroxyz pam, oxcarbazepine and now on 15 mg. of abilify. She never tell the true, and will steal food. she is not doing nothing in school.

my son aged 11 years has been on sodium valproate (valparin syrup) 6 ml twice a day for the past 8 years. he has had the same dosage for all these years and no seizures. once a year my neurologist makes him have a sleep deprived eeg that has been coming abnormal so he has asked us to continue the medication. this year he ahs suddeny asked us to chnage to keppra. i am confused now because this is rather sudden and my son is used to the valparin now and has no side effects as such.
has been trying differnt Bi-polar meds on me and after many trial and errors he has put me on oxcarbazepine, after all the bad affects I have been through mixing other meds with the suboxone I am scared to go trough it all agin does anyone know if these two meds mix ok? I am on 8mg subs 3Xs aday. any help would be great!
I recognize that Bipolar I is more severe, however the usual dose for anyone with Bipolar disorder is between 25mg-200mg.
Listen, doctors will truly mess up your life without intending to. After 10 years of being heavily dosed by multiple medications (too many to recount) for multiple reasons, I recently began the extremely lengthy process of getting off each medication, one by one.
I just started taking oxcarbazepine 9 days ago and I built up to 300 mg,no high not even close.Not like with other drugs like oxycontin, were with in 30 min you get a buzz.I guess you have to take higher doses if thats were you want to go,but I dont know.
How long does it take for the body to adjust to 150 mg of Wellbutrin? My doctor said eventually I will take 300 mg of it, but on the first day, instead of taking 1 tablet, I took 2. The first two nights were ******* hell. Had it not been for my roommate's bipolar medication, I would've died or something. I'm thinking 300 mg is too much for body to handle. So I plan on going back down to what my doc said. But I'm wondering, should I skip a day first, then start taking the 150?
Trileptal (oxcarbazepine) does not usually lead to hypertrophy/swelling of glands. But there is a mention of allergic reactions to trileptal. Here is an extract from www.trileptal.com about this particular side effect.
"......Anaphylaxis and angioedema has been reported.......other allergic reactions. Angioedema is characterized by swelling of the faces, eyes, lips or tongue, or difficulty swallowing or breathing.......
With all 3 of those meds, and especially Oxcarbazepine, you can find discussions online about amenorrhea, which means your periods stop.
You might want to discuss this with your doctor, as websites suggest, if you're taking these medications and your menstrual period changes.

Hey! I take Lamictal and it works wonderfully on me. I didn't start at as high a dosage as you did - I started with the Lamictal starter pack 25 mg, then 50 mg, then 100, and stabilized on that (it took a month) then went to 200mg, where I really felt stable at 200mg. All together, it took me about 2 months, but began to feel the effects of being stable at about 3 weeks.
It affects everyone differently, and with you jumping right into 100mg, I can't say for sure.
Hmmm... Has she said why you're a big risk for OD on mood stabilizers? Is it something to do with your metabolism or she thinks you're suicidal?
As it is, it depends on the person. If you've been on them before and didn't find them helpful, it's possible it doesn't work for you. However, if you ended them before they had a chance to get to a therapeutic level, it could be a dosage issue. Only you know how they affected you.
Like most medicines, I had to up the dosage (eventually) and capped it around the typical bipolar dosage of 200mg. I think I started on like 25mg or 50mg.
All in all, I recommend bringing up Buspar. I had never heard of it until I told my p-doc I wanted something for anxiety that wasn't going to be a problem as a 'drug abuse' type deal. She told me Buspar (buspirone) was the only medication that was produced specifically to treat anxiety.
Hello there, I've recently started on Welbutrin (forgot dosage, but it's small) and I've had some surprising effects.
First off, I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder a year ago and ADD about two months ago. I take lamictal 300mg along with the welbutrin. The welbutrin was prescribed to treat my ADD. Not long after starting I experienced this great emotional change. I realized that I was just not having "extreme" emotions anymore. I haven't felt like this since...ever.
I am taking my medication for my bipolar, anxiety but the thing is sometime I dont want to take the seroquel at night because I do not want to be put into a drug induce sleep. I like to be aware of my surroundings and I would like to be alert in case anything was to happen. I talked this with my social worker but because of the severity of my mania I think she wants me to be on a higher dosage or atleast a different kind.
My doctor switched me to oxcarbazepine and that stopped the issue. The one extra oxygen molecule somehow helped the situation. Ask your doctor to make the adjustment and see if that helps.
Around a week ago, I decided to lower my dosage to 150mg. of Lamictal. This is what my psychiatrist had suggested 8 months ago might be capping my happiness. She left town and I had an appointment made with a new guy at a new place this week.
About 10 days ago, noticed before the appt my script would run out. So, I had about 2-3 days where I would not be able to take any Lamictal at all. I decided to break down my 200mg pills into about 190mg,180mg... and then about 6-7 150mg. pills.
ve just found out I am pregnant and I have been taking Abilify (Aripirazole) and Lamictal (Lamotrigine) for the last year, against bipolar disorder, my doctor recommended to reduce it slowly and then stop it. He said that I have taken it so far wouldn't harm the baby. I am still very worried and wondered if anybody has any experience with this. Thank you!
