I just started OXCARBAZEPINE. I am really sick. I am on 600mg at night. I woke up this morning with a headache and I have felt like I have the flu all day. I cannot eat or drink anything. I'm exausted. Does anyone have experience with this med? How long will these symptoms last? I have to somehow work tomorrow. I am getting so tired of being sick and tired. I'm not depressed. I'm just coming back from hell. I had major surgery. It made me have a severe manic episode.

Lithium Orotate is a lithium salt containing lithium as a orotate ion not a cabonate and is sold by health food stores and more than a few shady online sellers as everything from a cure for depression to an alternative to normal medical treatment. There is a misguided belief among some that its more green and more natural than Lithium Carbonate which of course is hilarious as both are versions of the same substance.

With all 3 of those meds, and especially Oxcarbazepine, you can find discussions online about amenorrhea, which means your periods stop. You might want to discuss this with your doctor, as websites suggest, if you're taking these medications and your menstrual period changes. Best wishes.

Trileptal (oxcarbazepine) does not usually lead to hypertrophy/swelling of glands. But there is a mention of allergic reactions to trileptal. Here is an extract from www.trileptal.com about this particular side effect. "......Anaphylaxis and angioedema has been reported.......other allergic reactions. Angioedema is characterized by swelling of the faces, eyes, lips or tongue, or difficulty swallowing or breathing.......

I am taking tablets for my minor neural problem for the past 4 years, The tablets i am consuming are Oxcarbazepine (Trileptal) -300mg and Levetiracetam (keppra) -250mg. Now I am looking for a tablet which should have both of this content in the same. I have been on Trileptal for about 4 years now. I began it because I had trouble with sleepiness and general fatigue on Tegretol, and the blood tests bothered me. My doctor switched me to oxcarbazepine and that stopped the issue. The one extra oxygen molecule somehow helped the situation. Ask your doctor to make the adjustment and see if that helps.

I’m on levetiracetam aka keppra and clobazam aka onfi. When I was on oxcarbazepine (trileptal) and levetiracetam (keppra) I started having these weird headaches where I would lose my vision, hearing, smell, and coordination, but I could still speak and feel. The doctors are pretty much stumped. Has anyone ever had a situation like this?

Well, as thatquietgirl said, it really depends on the individual. Part of it also depends on whether you're BP I or II, and whether your main problems are depression, mania, or a lot of both, and whether you have psychosis in the mix. Lamotrigine and carbamazepine are generics, for the record, and Abilify and Seroquel are still under patent and so there aren't any generics yet.

Within the last two months, I have been experiencing burning and pain in my right foot (including toes). I am taking oxcarbazepine, is this a side affect or does it mean I need to increase the dose.

Dear Sir, I am a 31 year old married guy and I have been suffering from the following psychiatric symptoms since last 10 years.I have an underlying cause of depression bcoz of failing in the career front , actually being an engineering dropout with seeing no hope for the future and also being a stammerer / stutterer resulting in tremendous anxiety lasting since last 14 years or so.

During those times I had not yet been diagnosed and was able to go back to life like normal, however after the diagnosis and being on phenytoin and switching to oxcarbazepine i am feeling awful. Dizzy, nauseated, moody, extremely tired, severe headaches that come and go. All i get from my Neurologist is these are side effects that will eventually go away. Because i never know when these symptoms will come on too strong I have missed a lot of days at work during my probation period.

has been trying differnt Bi-polar meds on me and after many trial and errors he has put me on oxcarbazepine, after all the bad affects I have been through mixing other meds with the suboxone I am scared to go trough it all agin does anyone know if these two meds mix ok? I am on 8mg subs 3Xs aday. any help would be great!

Have been taking Carbamezapine and lately Gabapentine, which both cause Erectile Disfunction. Have read that Oxcarbazepine does not have this side effect. Have not convinced my neurologist to let me switch meds. What success have people had using Oxcarbazepine for TN, and does it also cause ED? I don't want to use either carbamezapine or gabapentine if possible.

carbamazepine, clobazam, lamotrigine, levetiracetam, oxcarbazepine and topiramate. These medications rarely stop the seizures completely but reduce the frequency and severity of them. I hope this helps, my prayers are with you and your son.

Other people have listed Trileptal (Oxcarbazepine), Neurontin (Gabepentin), Elavil (Amitriptyline) and Lyrica (Pregabalin) as some alternatives. I am currently on Lyrica + Cymbalta. I can't say that it's working but still playing with dosages. Anyone reading, please feel free to add your own choices and/or experiences.

Maam, further to my query on 27/12/10 I would like to inform you that my dad is taking Oxcarbazepine Tablets IP ( Oxetol) 300 mg in the morning and 450 mg at night. But still facing problem of memory.Do you think the tablets are correct for his problem. I have the report as well if I can scan and send you accross. Awaiting your reply.

Lately I have been having constant anxiety and I rarely worry about things this bad or this long. I believe it is caused by Biotin because I had a similar fit about three years when I stopped taking Biotin, but I did not see a link then; I got prescription Ativan for anxiety took it for only three nights and the problem went away almost instantly.
