oxcarbazepine and carbamazepine

I take Carbamazepine for ATN and have a new, rare reoccurring rash on my legs. My Dr. says they are not related, but when I researched it there were a few articles that indicated Carbamazepine could cause the rash.

I am currently taking carbamazepine for BP disorder type II, and I noticed it's getting hard to breath, l had the same symptom a few months back, went to several especialists but none of them found any respiratory or circular problem. It turned out to be zopiclone I was taking to sleeping. I am not taking zopiclone anymore. Now the only medications I am taking are carbamazepine for BP II and anti inflammatory for my sciatica. Any ideas?

ll need a typical or atypical antipsychotic (Seroquel and Abilify are both atypicals). Carbamazepine interacts with a lot of other things, and oxcarbazepine (Trileptal) seems like a better choice, even though it's off label. In the end, there's a huge number of meds that can be used in BP, and it really depends on the individual how well any particular one will work. but i would like to share this with you lamictal and trileptal do affect birth control pills and vise verse i.e. you can get pregnant using these as they reduce the effectiveness of birth control pills by 40%to 50% ,,,,,,,,,,also (which done me a great harm) the birth control pills reduce the effect of BP meds up to 50% also. i read on some site (but i cannot remember which) that birth control pills can affect most of psychiatric meds.

carbamazepine, clobazam, lamotrigine, levetiracetam, oxcarbazepine and topiramate. These medications rarely stop the seizures completely but reduce the frequency and severity of them. I hope this helps, my prayers are with you and your son.

Topamax, Oxcarbazepine (carbamazepine Tegretol) 1200 mg twice a day, And I have some nerve medications but when I am taking my Topamax and Oxcarbazepine I seem not to need them quite as much. If someone could point me in the right direction... or tell me what plants contain Lithium carbonate I would appreciate that. Thank you.

Hi JKJ, I have a similar case of frontal lobe epilepsy with similar pattern of seizures occurring only during sleep, a male patient, 14 years of age, who has been on oxcarbazepine i.e Trileptal ( oxrate here in India) for the last few months and we did observe disturbances in his memory. The episodes of memory disturbances increased as we increased the dose, but it wasn’t so worse as in the first instance. We already tried Tegretol (carbamazepine) for him and it didn’t work.

Lately I have been having constant anxiety and I rarely worry about things this bad or this long. I believe it is caused by Biotin because I had a similar fit about three years when I stopped taking Biotin, but I did not see a link then; I got prescription Ativan for anxiety took it for only three nights and the problem went away almost instantly.

You should see a neurologist, sounds like early signs of lupus, get yourself checked.. And make sure they do a spinal tap and a EEG.also look up ocular migraines. I stuffer also with your Dane symptoms and took 4 doctors 3 years to get the proper diagnosis. I have seizures , and when i wake up my whole body feels like it's shaking, sometimes I can't pull myself up, and my eyes flicker with light. I just started taking oxcarbazepine 9 days ago and I built up to 300 mg,no high not even close.Not like with other drugs like oxycontin, were with in 30 min you get a buzz.I guess you have to take higher doses if thats were you want to go,but I dont know.

I have been on Trileptal for about 4 years now. I began it because I had trouble with sleepiness and general fatigue on Tegretol, and the blood tests bothered me. At first Trileptal worked, but the effect lessened over time as I built up tolerance and we (doc and I) kept tweaking it until I was on 1800 mg a day and it still wasn't really working. I also have generalized anxiety disorder, so she added Xanax into the mix.

Hi all, saw MS nurse yesterday and told her about my muscles cramping and leg and foot spasms. She has suggested I start carbamazepine to see if it helps. Im wondering if anyone has been on this and if it works. What sort of side effects it has? I see this would be used in trigeminal neuralgia too, which I think Ive had a couple of attacks already.

During those times I had not yet been diagnosed and was able to go back to life like normal, however after the diagnosis and being on phenytoin and switching to oxcarbazepine i am feeling awful. Dizzy, nauseated, moody, extremely tired, severe headaches that come and go. All i get from my Neurologist is these are side effects that will eventually go away. Because i never know when these symptoms will come on too strong I have missed a lot of days at work during my probation period.

has been trying differnt Bi-polar meds on me and after many trial and errors he has put me on oxcarbazepine, after all the bad affects I have been through mixing other meds with the suboxone I am scared to go trough it all agin does anyone know if these two meds mix ok? Hi, my girlfrien is 19 years old, she´s messial temporal sclerosis post neucisticercosis and she´s epileptic, she´s taking carbamazepine (1gr/day even somedays she doen´t take the complete dosis because she´s student and the sleepiness interfer with her studdies). i would like to know if she may have any seizure during the sex?

With all 3 of those meds, and especially Oxcarbazepine, you can find discussions online about amenorrhea, which means your periods stop. You might want to discuss this with your doctor, as websites suggest, if you're taking these medications and your menstrual period changes. Best wishes.

Medications used for this include Carbamazepine, Phenytoin, Oxcarbazepine, Pregabalin, Neurontin, and others used for other conditions such as epilepsy or seizures. The medications reduce the frequency and severity of episodes, however the symptoms usually recur, and rarely they do disappear completely. Spinal stenosis should not be causing symptoms in your face.

I just started OXCARBAZEPINE. I am really sick. I am on 600mg at night. I woke up this morning with a headache and I have felt like I have the flu all day. I cannot eat or drink anything. I'm exausted. Does anyone have experience with this med? How long will these symptoms last? I have to somehow work tomorrow. I am getting so tired of being sick and tired. I'm not depressed. I am taking tablets for my minor neural problem for the past 4 years, The tablets i am consuming are Oxcarbazepine (Trileptal) -300mg and Levetiracetam (keppra) -250mg. I have just been diagnosed with TN. I have had a cat scan and MRI is scheduled. I am on 1200mg/day of Gabapentin. It has helped some but it has not got rid of pain. My pain has a somebperiods where I get a sudden sharp pain in my right ear but I always have a dull, throbbing aching pain in my jaw, cheek, ear, temple. Always with a horrible headache as well. My jaw clamps shut and awaken with sore tongue. I was put on Carbamazepine at night to stop involuntary movements, twitches and this also has stopped me from biting my tongue at night. Im wondering if it could be a mild form of epilepsy in that the drug has stopped it. Anyone one else experience this?
