fear

Avatar f tn ll have to actually talk in front of everybody, that is a fear just about ALL of us have. Public speaking is probably the #! phobia the world over, but I seriously doubt they are going to ask you to make an impromptu speech! A very quick "thank you" is probably the most you'll have to utter, and that just to the person handing you the award.
Avatar f tn I'm 30 and afraid of the dark. Welcome to the club. Fears never leave us, sadly. It sounds like bad news, but we can learn to manage them. I've been diagnosed with sever anxiety, GAD, panic, and depression. I'm not on meds. I manage it. I don't recommend this as the path for you/everyone, I'm just putting it out there to say: I know where you're at. The thing is, I've friends who're famous musicians, and terrified of performing.
1183666 tn?1274275146 So, JESSiCA, we meet again! I'm glad to hear you're involved with a partner and a project, but I do understand your fear of public speaking. I'm positive the vast majority of us would rather streak through Wal Mart than get up in front of a group of people. (Would anybody notice us in Wal Mart? Somehow I think we'd just "blend!") I suppose there are a number of things you could try before it was your turn to be on stage.
Avatar f tn I'm 33 yrs.old as I sit in my room and weigh the pros and cons of sending my daughter to daycare because her classmate was throwing up when I picked her up yesterday! Of course I was immediately feeling uneasy because of it and took meds last night to not throw up! I've talked to a therapist about it& it's done no good. This has been with me my ENTIRE Life! As a 6yr.old I sat outside my house for hours because a family member had a virus.
Avatar n tn I have had a toothache/facepain for over two weeks, I know I need to go and see a dentist but I have a great fear of going because of cetain circumstances that happened while going to the dentist as a child. I have been taking advil for the pain and most times it is tolerable but now it seems to be getting worse as it is keeping me awake at night.
Avatar n tn I think finding this site did help me through the first month I would also like to let others know who might fear entering a relationship like ours, the fear can be overcome if you have found happiness then go for it.
Avatar m tn thanks for the tips :) Ive also been watching Larry Crowne...that movie sort of helps me to not stress over speech class Is there something I can take to calm my nerves before presenting? I was thinking Nerve Tonic.
538680 tn?1213734792 The issue of your son's excessive talking in school is not your problem. It is the teacher's problem and there are many ways for a teacher to encourage talkative children to be more patient and respectful of the time of others. From your posting, it appears as if this teacher is coping with this problem as your son "did improve" through the past school year. By the way, I am a retired teacher.
14757565 tn?1438301624 By using tact, or approaching a situation in a tactful manner, you will be able to speak up about how you feel without being offensive or rude to the other person... Another idea to keep in the back of your mind is this saying: "pick and choose your battles wisely", it can mean many things to different people but simply put, not every conflict should be turned into a major battle. Is it worth getting into a war of words, if it could possibly destroy your relationship??
Avatar f tn a therapist that has training in anxiety disorders, exposure based treatments. For example, expose yourself to the stuff you fear and soon the fear becomes less. Expose yourself to the things that make you want to run and don't run and you'll train your brain that you'll be okay. It's not easy. It's awful. It sounds like you have health anxiety and some features of OCD, GAD, Social anxiety. Anxiety disorders in general clump together. But you can do this.

20907989 tn?1619515060 The covid pandemic has also affected a good percentage of the mental health of our youth in many ways. In your opinion what are the major causes of depression in the youth during these covid stricken days?
Avatar f tn It presents like a stroke by the end. Ended up with a trip to the ER several weeks ago because of the similarities ... funnily enough, the more I tried to explain that it wasn't a stroke, the less they believed me :-P.
Avatar f tn I am a college student who suffers from frequent trips to the loo. I feel the urge to pee many times during the day; I've noticed that I feel more urges when I'm outside my dorm than when I'm in it (maybe because it's the 'homey' feeling the place has and the fact that I'm just down the hall from a toilet). (It's also not an infection as I've had numerous tests done and nothing is wrong with my kidneys either.
Avatar n tn The anxiety produced when confronted with height creates what is near panic. The fear only exhibits itself primarily on the ground and outside.. I do not have a fear of flying in a jet airplane or inside tall buildings. It has become a real problem for me to enjoy skiing. I'm ok as long as I don't have any major "drop offs" thus limiting the area's where I can ski. I've tried to overcome the fear with little success. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
Avatar f tn Well tomarows a big day, I decided that Im feeling well enough to drop from 3mgs to 2 mgs, I had some doubts last week, as I did have some days when I felt beaten & weak, but I cant explain what happened but after 8 days of feeling like a walking zombie, I snapped out of it, maybe its my vitamins or maybe my body got adjusted to the lower dose? Whatever happened it feels good to feel normal.
Avatar f tn She now has a lot of friends, she started reading 6 months ago, and is a best reader in her class. Eight months ago she could not even hold a pencil properly, would not want to draw or color, or do any art related activity. Now she is righting, doing math, drawing and coloring, and loves art lessons!

Avatar f tn According to me, you should go for eyecare specialist they helps you to reduce your problem because Entoptic phenomena are visual effects whose source is within the eye itself. In Helmholtz's words, "Under suitable conditions light falling on the eye may render visible certain objects within the eye itself. So, this type of problem make an issue after some time so as soon as possible you go for the eye care specialist. I hope your problem overcome early.
1390847 tn?1344657468 I have learned that facing your fear is the best way to overcome it, you'll learn that the only thing to really fear about vomiting is the fear itself. I can only base this on my own experiences. Before I had children I had a horrible fear of seeing someone after they've fallen and hit their head and I would run the other way. I had my first child and he fell on the side walk and my first instinct was to run but this was my little boy and his well being meant more to me than my fear.
Avatar n tn The problem is as soon as our daughter is confronted with the fear and with ways to overcome it she freaks out and refuses to to do it (it is hard to take a 13 year old to a therapist against her will) and she behaves like a smaller child with temper tantrums My husband and I have decided (for the sake of the rest of the family ) to put an end to this , with a firm big step of going back to her bed or going in smaller steps back to her bed (her choice) and this will be our firm decision with lo
Avatar f tn Though the US has continued to make big gains in productivity over the last decade, nearly all of the benefit of those gains has gone to the wealthy, not the workers. American CEOs earned 411 times as much as average workers in 2005, up from 107 times in 1990. In the economic expansion of 2002-2006, the top 1% captured nearly three quarters of income growth. http://elsa.berkeley.edu/~saez/saez-USto pincomes-2006prel.
Avatar m tn Agreed. But some of these fears can be overcome. Puppies and chicks tend to be fast moving. Find the right kind of puppy at a pound or store, and I bet his response will be different.
Avatar f tn Hi Sweetie What you have is called "emetophobia." (The fear of throwing up) There are a lot of people who have this, so please know that you're not alone, OK? You're not some kind of weirdo for feeling this way. There is help for those who have this disorder, but you absolutely must talk to your parents about this. As with all phobias, there is no magic pill you can take to make it go away. You need to talk to a therapist to figure out WHY you are afraid of throwing up.........
Avatar f tn many people have a fear of public speaking. And remember anxiety and panic can come at the most inoppertune times even if we have previously been through the exact same experience panic free time after time. I also agree that you should not expect perfection and not be too hard on yourself. Just the fact that you get up there is something that you should give yourself credit for; that is no easy feat to accomplish in my opinion. Do you have other social situations that you get anxious in?
Avatar m tn i am frustated and cannot concentrate on my career and fear that i might be in along depression stage sometime in life...pls help me..!!!
Avatar n tn Sometime I have to walk out of the class room to calm down a bit. Now ive been dealing with a non stop 2 months of belching, heartburn, and discomfort. Took prilosect for it and it helped until the 14 day dose was finished. Everyday its a problem. I don't know if this is anxiety or not, but I do know that I have a huge fear of Hiv/aids (probably because of all the science knowledge) and I am currently afraid to get tested. This is probably the main cause of my anxiety.
