Common Questions and Answers about Overcome fear turbulence

fear

Avatar f tn As you said, the newfound fear of anxiety can be attributed to the fact that you had panic attacks during your last flight. It is similar, in a way, to agoraphobia. For your next flight, you can ask you doctor if you can take 1mg of Xanax to see if that helps. However, Xanax is relatively short-acting (effects last about 5 hours). Klonopin is probably a better option. It is very similar to Xanax, but it lasts a lot long (10-12 hours).
1530342 tn?1405016490 Their constant price increases have caused me considerable mental anguish. I now have a fear of parking too far away from their front door for fear there will be a price increase before I can get in the store and do my shopping. I now have been thrown out of the grocery store on several occasions for trying to negotiate my grocery bill with a checker. I've also been asked to leave by their management for sampling their products before I decide to invest in them...I think I have a good case.
Avatar f tn One is prescribed some anti-anxiety medication while another actually goes to counseling for a couple phobias to include her fear of flying.
Avatar m tn Agreed. But some of these fears can be overcome. Puppies and chicks tend to be fast moving. Find the right kind of puppy at a pound or store, and I bet his response will be different.

1674823 tn?1307263620 As I previously posted the most common causes for LVOT turbulence are associated with the aortic valve morphology (e.g. mild fusion of 2 leaflets of the valve, bicuspid valve, unicuspid valve, thickening of the leaflets). If your aortic valve is normal, a subaortic membrane is the second most common cause for LVOT turbulence/obstruction (8–30% of cases). In your case, whatever is causing this turbulence is not generating a significant stenosis/gradient (only 9 mmHg).
Avatar m tn That sound is created by turbulence. The turbulence can be either normal or abnormal. Abnormal turbulence signifies a structural defect of some sort in the heart. Normal turbulence occurs when normal blood flow through the heart and lungs can be heard. Approximately 2/3 of all children and adolescents have normal, also called innocent or functional, murmurs. We grade the loudness of the murmur on a scale of 1 to 6. A “2” is as loud as the breath sounds. A “3” is louder than that.
Avatar n tn I had a traumatic experience when I was a young child which left me with the fear of uncontrolled bleeding. I have attempted to overcome this fear through therapy and work in medical and dental offices. However, it returns to paralyze me at times. I need a molar extracted due to an abcess and the fear of bleeding has returned. I have had extractions in the past and obviously I survived but the anxiety continues to be huge.
Avatar f tn m flying there and back, first of all,I HATE planes... mainly the stomach dropping feeling (taking off and turbulence) can the baby feel that too? My mom says pregnant women fly all the time, but it just doesn't sound comfortable for me nor my baby. (Lol kind of a dumb concern,I know) but honestly, could it at all effect the baby, like scare it a little or something? Cuz it scares me! Like I want to faint... I've never gotten sick on a plane but I'm afraid I will this time.
847195 tn?1296171647 Since you have not only the fear of flying, but the fear of the medication to help you with your fear of flying...........I, too, strongly suggest you try taking some Xanax at home before your flight so you will know how it affects you. If you are not use to benzos, you will probably just feel very sedated and relaxed, which is how you want to feel on the plane. (Please do NOT drink any alcohol with this med!
Avatar m tn I have an intense fear that I am going to die suddenly, and what will happen to both my family/and I.I could really use some advice on how I can seek relief of this. I'm still trying to ask myself the right questions to figure out the solid root of my fear, and I wish I could be more specific, but I'll give it a shot. When I was 19 I started suffered from what I think were anxiety attacks.

Avatar n tn Several years ago I had an ascending aortic aneurysm repaired, and my bicuspid aortic valve replaced. At the time, the surgeon told me he thought the aneurysm was caused by turbulence from the valve. However, since then I've also read that aneurysms can be caused by congenital connective tissue disorders linked to bicuspid aortic valves. How do you determine the cause of an aneurysm?
Avatar f tn I am going through this. I have ocd.
Avatar m tn - Firstly, a method of releasing or handling the subconscious "hurt memories" which have been stored. - Secondly, developing self-confidence to deal with the actual situation which triggers the fear. - Thirdly, developing new responses to express the emotions that are felt when the situation recurs.
Avatar n tn ve tried to overcome the fear with little success. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
Avatar f tn You need to address why you have this fear and therapy will help you do this. Once you can overcome the fear, your anxiety will improve immensely. But therapy takes time and medication will help until you sort thru all of this. Best wishes.
Avatar m tn As to how to overcome this fear, all anxiety is overcome the same way -- you either do it over and over until you stop being afraid of it or you seek professional therapy to teach you ways of overcoming it. Learning some relaxation techniques might help, such as meditation and breathing exercises. If the anxiety is beyond any control you can consider medication -- if this is your only phobia, a relaxant you only take when you have to get your blood pressure taken might be of use.
Avatar f tn To overcome anxiety, one must understand the logic of why the brain is feeling threatened, it sends messages to the body saying its under threat. New pathways need to be created to overcome the old programming. So for example, if you panic over a fear of flying, you must start flying and let the brain realise that its all okay, and reprogram the thoughts. However, the fear of dying can't really be practiced. Some buddhists meditate in a morgue as it is the closest we can get to dying.

Avatar m tn I notice that when there are few moments in which this depression goes down, that causes the fear to return. Then, of course, immediately once the fear returns, that causes the chronic depression to take back over and replace the fear. I notice that a certain level of this depression is necessary to hold off the fear. If it is anything below that, the fear returns.
Avatar f tn In addition, she has asked for financial support. My fear is that she is in denial as to what she is capable of accomplishing. We are both nurses, but she has lost her licence, and can not practise as a nurse ever again. I want to keep encouraging her, supporting her but i think she is delusional and/or hypomanic as to her career choice. She wants to become a pharmacy rep.
Avatar f tn Hey BetteI understand how obsessive thoughts can feel so real. I have suffered for many different obsessions over my life. The first thing that you need to realize is that pregnancy cannot happen if sperm has been out of the body for more than a few minutes. The second thing, that is the hardest is understanding that reassurance from others really won't help you overcome your fear.
