944787 tn?1287084773 Hey, wow you seem to be the first person i have come across who has a silmiar illness as i do! I guess since i was little i have suffered from social phobia, always withdrawn and quiet. When i was 19 i had a severe breakdown and developed panic attacks and depression which made me both agoraphobic and severely socially phobic. Although i know exactly why i fear people, i have had more than my fair share of abuse both from mum, the people who brought me up and boyfriends.
Avatar f tn you people are truly some of the most genuine kind of people and that was and is refreshing... coming up on 2 weeks away from long term suboxone maintenance. tough thing to have done and am still rough at time. that being said for all that it has done for me it was a kick in the butt to go thru sickness.... AGAIN..... i got on it to stop using heroin and guess what... that happened.
Avatar m tn Agreed. But some of these fears can be overcome. Puppies and chicks tend to be fast moving. Find the right kind of puppy at a pound or store, and I bet his response will be different.
Avatar m tn Stop fearing breathing. I know it's easier said than done. You don't just get over a fear (I feel though personally this is more than just fear) it's fear that has took over our every aspect of our lives. You can breathe again. Don't hold in your breath. Worst thing you could think to do like it would be helpful at all. No. I'm not afraid someone coughing anymore. Be assertive.
Avatar f tn So, this type of problem make an issue after some time so as soon as possible you go for the eye care specialist. I hope your problem overcome early.
Avatar f tn I am going through this. I have ocd.
Avatar f tn s a habit of yours to not talk to people and overcome this by taking small steps because you at any cost cannot let this habit of yours prevail and you know that so **** that fear and go out to do small things that eliminate your fear of this. This will start making you happier. One small suggestion while doing this that don't panic in front of people just be yourself whatever the **** they think. Just put forward what you think and soon you will see the difference.
Avatar n tn I had a traumatic experience when I was a young child which left me with the fear of uncontrolled bleeding. I have attempted to overcome this fear through therapy and work in medical and dental offices. However, it returns to paralyze me at times. I need a molar extracted due to an abcess and the fear of bleeding has returned. I have had extractions in the past and obviously I survived but the anxiety continues to be huge.
Avatar m tn - Firstly, a method of releasing or handling the subconscious "hurt memories" which have been stored. - Secondly, developing self-confidence to deal with the actual situation which triggers the fear. - Thirdly, developing new responses to express the emotions that are felt when the situation recurs.
Avatar m tn As to how to overcome this fear, all anxiety is overcome the same way -- you either do it over and over until you stop being afraid of it or you seek professional therapy to teach you ways of overcoming it. Learning some relaxation techniques might help, such as meditation and breathing exercises. If the anxiety is beyond any control you can consider medication -- if this is your only phobia, a relaxant you only take when you have to get your blood pressure taken might be of use.
Avatar f tn In my opinion, anxiety can manifest itself in all sorts of ways. I know many people that do not like shots; reading about the 23 people probably didn't help, but that is an EXTREMELY small number considering the millions that receive vaccines/shots....you are more likely to get struck by lightning. However, in my experience with health anxiety, our fears are not subdued because we are not thinking rationally, but emotionally. Have you ever considered getting therapy for this?
Avatar m tn Has anyone else dealt with having a sort of obssession with maybe having an std? The last time I had sex was almost a year ago due to my newfound paranoia. I had unprotected sex and a day later i noticed some irritation on my penis. I go to the dictor a couple days later. In the first visit my doctor said I had a molluscum and it went away after a few months. He said no big deal and he would test me(blood)for all stds just in case. Negative for all stds.
Avatar m tn See a Dr, we can't diagnosis you.
Avatar f tn I got a letter from my school stating that since I show effort in class and have pretty good grades they are inviting me and my parents to breakfast and then will have an awards ceremony. I am soo scared to eat in front of people. I'm fine with my parents but none of my friends are going either. All people I don't know or don't like. I'm picky about food too and I know I'm not going to like it so how can I eat it without looking grossed out?
3159640 tn?1430907300 Hello --I am an OCD sufferer who has worked hard to overcome HIV fears, but every once in a while I get really overcome by fear. I had a small fresh scrape on the side of my hand that was reddish and a smear of blood. At some point I washed my hands. I forgot about it, did not put a bandaid on it. I then went to a party where I meet and shook hands with several new people. One guy shook my hand pretty hard, twice. Another guy had his leg bandaged up for cellulitis.
Avatar m tn their is no chance of HIV without condom breakage...to overcome your fears ...take a test....taking a test can come out of fear 99% than googing...
Avatar f tn What is the best way to overcome anxiety that is rooted in the fear of disease
Avatar f tn To overcome anxiety, one must understand the logic of why the brain is feeling threatened, it sends messages to the body saying its under threat. New pathways need to be created to overcome the old programming. So for example, if you panic over a fear of flying, you must start flying and let the brain realise that its all okay, and reprogram the thoughts. However, the fear of dying can't really be practiced. Some buddhists meditate in a morgue as it is the closest we can get to dying.
Avatar m tn I notice that when there are few moments in which this depression goes down, that causes the fear to return. Then, of course, immediately once the fear returns, that causes the chronic depression to take back over and replace the fear. I notice that a certain level of this depression is necessary to hold off the fear. If it is anything below that, the fear returns.
1390847 tn?1344657468 I have learned that facing your fear is the best way to overcome it, you'll learn that the only thing to really fear about vomiting is the fear itself. I can only base this on my own experiences. Before I had children I had a horrible fear of seeing someone after they've fallen and hit their head and I would run the other way. I had my first child and he fell on the side walk and my first instinct was to run but this was my little boy and his well being meant more to me than my fear.
Avatar n tn Look, I can't pretend to have the same problems, I'm a guy. But I'm going to offer a comment because there really aren't a lot of people who participate on here and so I'm not sure you're going to find that many who will respond with similar experiences. But in a way, everyone with mental problems has similar issues -- we may differ on the specific things that terrify us but we're all terrified.
Avatar m tn I have heard of this. It is a fear of strange people watching you eat. People can fear alot of different unrealistic things. I am afraid of spiders. Even little ones and ones that cannot hurt me even if they tried. I do my best to stay away from places that spiders are likely to be. That's just how I handle it. I think you need a different approach. Try sitting in a corner table, or a section with very few people in it. Sit with your back to strangers.
