Avatar n tn I have had a toothache/facepain for over two weeks, I know I need to go and see a dentist but I have a great fear of going because of cetain circumstances that happened while going to the dentist as a child. Avatar n tn The anxiety produced when confronted with height creates what is near panic. The fear only exhibits itself primarily on the ground and outside.. I do not have a fear of flying in a jet airplane or inside tall buildings. It has become a real problem for me to enjoy skiing. I'm ok as long as I don't have any major "drop offs" thus limiting the area's where I can ski. I've tried to overcome the fear with little success. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
Avatar m tn Agreed. But some of these fears can be overcome. Puppies and chicks tend to be fast moving. Find the right kind of puppy at a pound or store, and I bet his response will be different.
Avatar f tn To overcome anxiety, one must understand the logic of why the brain is feeling threatened, it sends messages to the body saying its under threat. New pathways need to be created to overcome the old programming. So for example, if you panic over a fear of flying, you must start flying and let the brain realise that its all okay, and reprogram the thoughts. However, the fear of dying can't really be practiced. Some buddhists meditate in a morgue as it is the closest we can get to dying.
Avatar f tn I am very scared about surgery as I had bad experience of surgery since my mother died just after open surgery to remove her complex ovarian cyst (about 20cm). I am very happy to find this forum on the internet and I'm relieved after read many posts. My surgery is scheduled on July 9th and you cannot imagine how anxious I am now. I am not scared about surgery itself but about the death from general anesthesia. I am scared not to wake up after surgery. Thank you for your comments.

Avatar m tn I become so frightened during the period of time where I try to fall asleep that I simply do not do it. I find myself finding excuses to stay awake. It's not the sleep itself that scares me, it's the part where I lay in the dark and the silence. I'm afraid of all kinds of crazy things that don't bother me when I am not trying to sleep. I can't keep anything that is bothering me, any kinds of irrational fears, or any unusual superstitions out of my head.
Avatar n tn I had a traumatic experience when I was a young child which left me with the fear of uncontrolled bleeding. I have attempted to overcome this fear through therapy and work in medical and dental offices. However, it returns to paralyze me at times. I need a molar extracted due to an abcess and the fear of bleeding has returned. I have had extractions in the past and obviously I survived but the anxiety continues to be huge.

Avatar f tn During most of this time I had fatty liver, however in 2018, prior to bariatric surgery and blood work and at no time was elevated liver enzymes of liver issues mentioned. Needless to say after surgery I quit drinking for 4 months than went back to it more than ever. I have recently been experiencing cirrhosis symptoms. Avatar f tn Ok I'm a 15 year old male who has had many shots in life. Not in recent past though. My cousins always talked about fear of needles, and until that time I didn't mind them. Now they are the scariest things. At least I think remember I haven't had a shot recently except for at the dentist. I have readabout passing out when recieving a shot, although would that happen to me since I never have before? Do numbing solutions work?
Avatar f tn As you said, the newfound fear of anxiety can be attributed to the fact that you had panic attacks during your last flight. It is similar, in a way, to agoraphobia. For your next flight, you can ask you doctor if you can take 1mg of Xanax to see if that helps. However, Xanax is relatively short-acting (effects last about 5 hours). Klonopin is probably a better option. It is very similar to Xanax, but it lasts a lot long (10-12 hours).

Avatar f tn Since my teenage years I have had a HIV anxiety, I never did any risky activities because of fear of becoming infected. Recently I went in for a massage and the massage lady gave me a handjob at the end and nothing else, she was not a escort only offered a handjob. After I started to feel high anxiety that maybe I got infected by the handjob but every website said it is no risk, that made me feel better for a few days now my OCD kicked in.
Avatar n tn You need to find out what size and what type of cyst it is. The swelling is because the cyst is pushing on her internal organs. She could end up with a bowel or ureter blockage among other things. Cysts like that can burst or twist and that is a medical emergency as an infection can easily happen. A planned surgery is much safer than an emergency surgery. She also needs the surgery to ensure that it isn't Ovarian Cancer.
1541714 tn?1293092267 s mainly things like the thought of a catheter, of having an IV, of having a scar, of being vulnerable on the operating table and the idea of someone cutting my flesh. I get migraines and i even often have to convince myself to go for an injection because even that scares me despite how many I've had. So, I'm kinda just trying to find encouragement for the whole thing.
