Ovarian cysts while using an iud

Common Questions and Answers about Ovarian cysts while using an iud

ovarian-cysts

Avatar f tn About 10% of women using Mirena will develop an ovarian cyst. These cysts may disappear on their own in a month or two. However, cysts can cause pain and sometimes will need surgery I found this info under contracept.
Avatar f tn It could be hormonal (ovarian cysts maybe?), the IUD could have moved...it could be a few things, your health care provider cna do an exam and tests if needed.
Avatar n tn I had an IUD put in early March. I went back for a check up because I was experiencing extremely painful cramps. My doctor used an ultra-sound to check the placement of the IUD and all was fine. However, she discovered that I had multiple cysts. She perscribed pain medications, and sent me on my way. My question is how long are they supposed to last? It is now mid-May and I still get the same severe pain. It shoots down my left leg, (sometimes the right) and across my back.
Avatar f tn 9 months ago I have had an iud insertion everything was fine the first month but then I started to feel I discomfort on my right lower pelvic area it gets worse to the point that sometimes its hard for me to walk or just get up from bed , can this be cause by the iud?
Avatar f tn I started the pill 6 wks after I had my daughter an it gave me horrible headaches which I weird because I was on it for 6 years before I had my daughter so then I tried the IUD an it gave me ovarian cysts so I went without...
Avatar n tn When I have ovarian cysts, they cause the same pain you described and cause constipation and sometimes affect urination. When my varian cysts burst, i get a pain and pressure that travels down to my rectum and the pain will stay for a few hours and then finally go away slowly.. I’m sadly used to the pain as i get it almost every month now but the first time sent me to the ER.
Avatar f tn I'm not sure what they're saying about the IUD but they are definitely indicating that you have ovarian cysts. The symptoms you're having are indicative and there is information on types of cysts and symptoms on the health pages (top right). I'm so surprised that they would give you the report without an explanation. What has your doctor said?
724384 tn?1230916949 Hi, I am 22 yrs old. I have two boys. They are 5 and 4. I had the IUD put in after my 2nd child because I didnt want anymore kids for a lil while. And well its been 4 1/2 yrs now...and I have the worst pain on both sides (like both ovaries) And for the 1st week I was thinking well maybe im going through the monthly thing..then the pain got worse.
Avatar f tn Are yu planning on breastfeeding because some bc isn't supposed to be taken while bf...I plan on using the ortho evra patch it seems convenient because I dont have to remember to take it everyday...
Avatar f tn My ob/gyn wants to put me on Mirena and she says that will help with the ovarian cysts. While I do not disagree with her, it has been difficult to get to her office as soon as I start my period (which is when she says I need to come to insert the IUD). My periods are horrible for one, and the past couple of months they have started on a weekend. Plus, I am wondering if an ovarian cyst could be causing all this?
Avatar n tn Since my gyno continues to tell me my gas, bloating, constant BMs and lower left-sided pelvic pain is NOT related to my ovarian cysts, she sent me to a gastroenterologist. I had a CT scan yesterday that only showed my IUD and "bilateral prominent ovaries". I briefly spoke with the GI doctor who said this could be due to my menstrual cycle. Since having the IUD, I have not had a period now in over a year. And he did say "prominent" meant "enlarged". So.....
Avatar f tn I wondering if anyone has experienced my symptoms, and can lend some advice. Im 26yrs old and had ovarians cysts when i was a young teen. After having 2 children i had an IUD placed about a year ago. My monthly periods are usually regular and dont cause pain. Since last month, when on my period i have extreme pain on my right side, feels like someone is sqeezing my ovary. I am now experiencing the same feeling, along with lower back pain that receeds down my thigh.
Avatar n tn hi I just had a baby a few mos ago than got an IUD, a week ago i woke up with severe pelivc pain?? this is my U/S result ?? Anyone know what this means?? Result Impression CLINICAL INDICATION: PELVIC PAIN. Avatar f tn I don't know a whole lot about the Mirena, but I've heard that ovarian cysts are relatively common after having it inserted. I've never used the Mirena or other type of IUD, however, I have had ovarian cysts (I've since had a complete hysterectomy due to other problems). Normally they will just kind of keep an eye on the cyst to see if it is getting larger or if it starts causing you pain or other problems. Sometimes the cysts will go away on their own.
Avatar f tn Mirena was more hormones, worse periods etc. paraguard gave me ovarian cysts I had reactions to the copper it started to embed in my uterus .
Avatar f tn I have done quite a bit of research on the correlation of the IUD and Ovarian Cysts because I had never had them before the IUD. It seems that it can be a "side effect" in 10-20% of women. Lucky me. I go back and forth about having the IUD removed. On one hand the 99.9% effective rate is very comforting, but is it worth the monthly pain. Not to mention it affects my relationship and my job! Who can concentrate when you are taking vicodin on a daily basis.
Avatar f tn Today I found out I have an ovarian cyst on my right ovary measuring 8.5x6.1x8.1. I only found out because I had an IUD inserted 1 week ago and a pelvic ultrasound was ordered to check the placement of the IUD. The mass is complex and septated and echoic, the doctor wasn't very good at explaining what that might mean and now I'm awaiting a semi-urgent MRI to evaluate the characteristics of the cyst.
Avatar f tn If you are not already on birth control, BCP can actually help in a lot of cases or, more extreme, an IUD. Again, this is an extreme measure but, with the kind of pain you are experiencing, could make it stop. I AM NOT A DR.! Please seek the help of a GYN. This is not uncommon and totally treatable.
514428 tn?1287598456 My two Aunts had hysterectomies due to ovarian cysts, and My Grandmother and Mother had hysterectomies due to fibroids. My Mom was experiencing the same pain 2 years ago, when I got my U/S and needed to get her uterus removed due to a 15 week fetus like fibroid. So it runs in the family obviously. I tries to contact my Aunt because NOBODY is writing anything to me on here. I'm seriously worried and need help!
Avatar n tn It does sound suspicious that your IUD may be contributing to your symptoms. But, a transvaginal ultrasound will be able to determine if you have an ovarian cyst. I agree with you mom that endo also can cuase these same symptoms. Unforunately, there is no way to know until you see you gyn and get an ultrasound. I think it is very important to follow-up on new changes. It is likely a benign condition that will go away in time.
1701959 tn?1488551541 So in May I had a sonogram due to some discomfort and it was found that I had an ovarian cysts the size of a gulf ball. Since then the pain has increased and a recent sonogram shows it is now the about 6 cm so I am being sent for the CA 125 marker to make sure we are ok. They said it looks like simple cyst, fluid filled but I am scared to death! Also, I have never had ovarian cysts before when I was on the pill but since I came off of it and got the MIrena IUD I now have this cyst.
363110 tn?1340920419 Your speaking of "implanon" or another type of comparable thing. I wanted to warn you against that. Your doctor is lying if he or she says it won't make you gain weight. and it is not a new form of depo shot. That method has a HIGH dose of hormones. It's worse than depo IMO from what I've heard. It's bigger than a grain of rice it's just under matchstick size a1cm or 1inch incision to put it in..
Avatar f tn I just had an ultra sound that showed a large black mass attached to my right ovary. I have an IUD in place and for the past month I have had abdominal pain ranging from sever to managable. I also have bouts of nausea and constipation. I just had an ultrasound done and there was a black mass that was about 3 centimeters. Can an ovarian cyst cause this much pain and other symptoms?
Avatar f tn you can get pregnant with an IUD i meet someone that was born with an IUD in their hand. alot of times though the IUD causees a miscarraige or complacations through the pregnancy. i am haveing my IUD removed because i am tired of feeling pegnant when i am not.
Avatar f tn you may want to call your gynocologist to check for ovarian cysts. Being tired is also a symptom of cysts. you should google ovarian cyst symptoms to see how many you have.
1979554 tn?1326224916 no problems, except for occasional ovarian cysts (which I got quite often before I even got the IUD) but all of a sudden my periods have stopped (since Oct) I have been cramping like crazy, my first thought it that I may be pregnant, well I took a pregnancy test and it came back negative (granted it was a cheapy) I have made an app with my OBGYN but they can't get me in for a couple weeks and I am starting to worry. I looked up danger signs with IUD and I have a few of them.
Avatar n tn Last time I went for a vaginal ultrasound the technician asked me if I had an IUD. I explained to her that I had the essure procedure done (she had no clue what I was talking about) but she mentioned that she could see pretty clearly a device or something on my uterus. Do you know how far in the uteturs the coils are suppose to be? I'm very concerned regarding having the coils misplaced in my uterus insted of being on my tubes.
