Avatar f tn If you are not BRCA positive you have a1.4% of ovarian cancer. 98% of cysts even big ones are benign. I think if you have had 3 transvaginal ultrasounds the cancer would show up by now. It spreads to other organs and the omentum. They can see that on an ultrasound. If the doctor was thinking cancer they would send you to a Gyn/oncologist. I was sent the day after my ultrasound. I am BRCA positive.
Avatar m tn More than 98%t of ovarian cysts are none cancer. Ovarian cysts in women are very common. Most resolve themselves with out surgery. If you can take something like Ibuprofen that can help with inflammation.
Avatar f tn Unless you have the BRCA mutation you have a 1.4 % of ovarian cancer in a life time. 98% of all ovarian cysts are benign. Most women have several benign ovarian cysts in a life time. Uterine cancer and ovarian are not related which is weird. It is good they are checking. It may all turn out to be benign endometriosis. In the old days if you were past child bearing years they would do a hysterectomy. Now they know how important ovaries are to a woman's over all health and do not take them.
10704596 tn?1412127746 4% of ovarian cancer in your life time. The cysts in the report are usually benign. It says you have fibroids. No free fluid is good.
Avatar f tn I think with my family history of ovarian cancer (my mom died at 78) and with the complex cysts that have blood flow my mind is automatically jumping to ovarian cancer. I am very scared. My Doctor has called in a requisition for an MRI, and I am waiting to get a call back to find out when - but was told it could take 2 weeks or a month depending.
3100626 tn?1341387176 Could this pain be cysts. In so much pain really getting scared my mom died.
Avatar m tn My concern is that she recently had a very sharp pain in her lower abdomen which lasted over an hour, and when she was examined by her OBGYN a couple of days later, she requested Tracie to have an ultrasound because she felt some cysts. The ultrasound showed 2 regular fluid filled cysts and 1 solid(complex as she called it) cyst that had ruptured that was full of blood.
Avatar f tn Just got my results from my pelvic ultrasound done on Fri. I hope to meet with my OBGYN right away. Been having symptoms for a few months and hadn't gotten anywhere with dr's - they were thinking IBS when I have no symptoms of it. Abdominal ultrasound came back normal. I then pushed for a pelvic ultrasound and just had it done at the lab on Fri. They found a simple cyst on 1 ovary and a septated cyst on the other. I had a C-section 17 months ago and a history of endometriosis. I am 34.
Avatar f tn I had both ovaries but I have the BRCA mutation and I had cancer in 14 places. They could see the cancer on the ultrasound. Over 98% of ovarian cysts are benign. What does your doctor say. You could have Polycystic Ovary syndrome which is not cancerous.
Avatar m tn I had an ultrasound done that showed two ovarian cysts in my left ovary and right ovary appeared fine. Since then, my pain has been in right side near ovary, left side near ovary and sometimes even in my rib cage on my right side. I've had three times where I can't take a deep breath without feeling stabbing side ache in rib cage.
Avatar f tn Most ovarian cysts are benign. 98% are benign. A woman has a 1.4% of eve getting ovarian cancer. Less if you are under 50.
Avatar f tn Can ovarian cancer be mistaken for polycystic ovaries on a transvaginal ultrasound - or do they look different?
Avatar f tn If it were on both ovaries it would have spread more and be clear on the ultrasound that it was cancer. 98.6% of cysts are not cancer. A normal woman has a 1.4% chance of ovarian cancer in a life time. It is lower if you are younger. If you had the BRCA gene, women in your family with early ovarian cancer the chances are 20%. If your Gyn is doing a cystectomy that is great. Many take your ovaries which is not good. It is easier to take the ovary out.
Avatar n tn I'm 55 yrs old. Gyn dr discovered an ovarian cyst (ultrasound test) in June, 2008. She said it had to come out & referred me to an oncology gyn dr. I have been seeing this dr for the last 6 mos. He has ordered various ultrasound tests and blood work (cancer makers, CA 125, CA 19-9). My last visit was on 1/7/09 at which time one of my cancer markers was alittle abnormal, but was told not to worry.
Avatar f tn Did your doctor not follow up on this ultrasound? The odds are good you don't have it but you should have another transvaginal ultrasound to know your current status. The symptoms of ovarian cancer and cysts are very similar. In many cases they can't be sure until a cyst is removed and biopsied. Please don't ignore this.
Avatar n tn Do you know if you have cysts? Please arrange for a transvaginal ultrasound and insist that your doctor rule out ovarian cancer but do keep in mind that over 95% of all cysts are benign. Feel free to join us on the ovarian cyst forum for support.
Avatar m tn My daughter, age 15, had to be rushed to the ER about 4 weeks ago for severe abdominal pain. After hours of tests and ultrasounds, they finally came across a complex cyst 4.5 cm in diameter. The GYN put her on birth control and the unbearable pain seemed to be getting better until yesterday. I know it's not likely, but what are the odds of ovarian cancer in teen? Being a complex cyst really worries me.
Avatar f tn If yours are not large (over 7 cm or so) and you do not have a predisposition for / family history of ovarian cancer, then they can usually be monitored via periodic ultrasound.
Avatar n tn I'm curious why you think it's cancer and what type (endometrial, ovarian)? What has your doctor told you? There are benign causes for inhomogenous (heterogenous) endometrium. And most of them are benign. Uterine fibroids are one example. Polyps are another. Fibroids are extremely common and 99% of them are benign. Depending on the type of fibroids, they can make the lining appear thicker than it is.
Avatar n tn Ovarian cysts are not that uncommon. Some go away on their own. The important thing is to have a doctor monitor them. I did have one burst some years ago and needed emergency surgery. I had acute pain, abdominal and actually had rectal spasms. Doc in the ER made a bad call. It was my own doc that sent me for tests and it was discovered it had burst. I had surgery but my doc at the time, due to my age, actually left part of that ovary and my other one.
Avatar n tn MOST ovarian cysts (even complex / suspicious looking ones) are benign and it seems ovarian cysts are more common after hysterectomy due to the histological changes to the ovaries (likely due to loss of blood flow and feedback loop with the uterus). If your gynecologist deems this cyst concerning based on the traits specified on the ultrasound, you will want to see a gynecologic oncologist.
Avatar m tn When they think it is ovarian cancer they act fast. I was at the oncologist the day after my ultrasound and in surgery by the oncologist in days. CA 125 can be off but they are false positives not false negatives. If the ct scan showed no cancer you are probably good. Usually cancerous cysts are just solid. Chances are good that is not cancer. Many people have cancer scares and they are scary. Then after surgery it is not cancer and you can be happy.
Avatar f tn t started worrying to much yet as I think I should stress to much until i know if it is ovarian cancer but I would just like to know. It says in the ct scan notes 1. Two pelvic masses. The first cystic mass was noted in the right andexa measuring 51 x 47mm. The left ovary contained a complex cyst measuring 25 x 20mm. 2. The liver demonstrates an incidental riedel's lobe. Within the pelvis there is a cystic mass posterior to the uterus within the right adnexa. This measures 50x 40mm.
Avatar f tn t know. Over on the absolutely dreaded ovarian cancer board (I do not know where those ladies get their strength)... it seems CA-125's are all over the place..of course it is actually more of a barometer for how treatment is going. I guess I was just hoping that the odds are this is benign. I know the histology is the final answer..but what do you all think...? BTW..I do not seem to have the very bad symptoms everybody else is..
Avatar f tn Should I go on and get my ovaries removed? I still worry about ovarian cancer. My brother has renel and thyroid cancer. My mom has lymphoma. I appreciate any feedback I can get.
Avatar f tn t think you need to be worried based on those results. Cysts that are worrisome for ovarian cancer are usually 5cm or larger and complex (have solid parts). Hemorrhagic cysts are very common. Most cysts (both simple and complex) do turn out to be benign. Be sure to have follow-up to confirm that your cysts are not growing larger. But, to me, it sounds very good in terms of NOT being malignant.
Avatar m tn At your age you have a less than 1% chance it is ovarian cancer. 99% of ovarian cysts at your age are benign. The doctors are covering the basis because you can't see inside and ovarian cancer gets missed so much. I had symptoms and they saw the cysts with me. They did nothing and did not tell me I had cysts because they thought I would worry. By the time they found it in me the cancer was stage 4 and there was not much they could do.
Avatar n tn I'm 32 and have 2 kids.. I recently had 1 cyst on my right ovary and it was 3.2cm and now it has shrunk to 1.0cm and no on my left ovary I have 2 cysts and there both 3.2cm... Which I'm not worried about the cyst but my doctor wants me to take a CA125 test to make sure my levels are not high, which can indicate Ovarian Cancer. I'm very scared.. What are really the chances of having ovarian cancer.. I'm on the pill only for acne reasons and not very good at taking daily..
