Avatar f tn Hello, There are specific types of ovarian cancer that are more often found in children and adolescents that are different from those found in older women. In children and young girls ovarian cancer usually presents as an ovarian mass and typically they only report pain if the ovary twists and its blood supply is cut off. So, ovarian cancer in young people is overall uncommon, but definitely occurs. Your symptoms would be atypical.
Avatar n tn I think possibliy you mean ovarian cysts instead of ovarian fibriods as fibriods are assoicated with the Uterus and ovarian cysts are associated with the ovaries.
Avatar f tn The results showed 3 right ovarian cysts with the largest measuring 4.6x2.2x3.0cm. the report also noted a cystic focus inferior to the left ovary measuring 4.6x3.4x4.4cm. There is no fluid noted. I had a partial hysterectomy over 6 years ago, so no periods. My copy of the ultrasound report does not specifically indicate the type of cyst. In the CT report the radiologist said the "cystic lesions in bilateral ovaries likely due to functional cysts if the patient is still premenopausal.
Avatar n tn Although it’s not known for sure whether benign ovarian cysts or polycystic ovaries develop into ovarian cancer, the vast majority of ovarian cysts appear to be unrelated. Women who have polycystic ovaries or ovarian cancer seldom have obvious symptoms early on. However, in both disorders, symptoms are noticed as the condition progresses. Because the ovaries are affected on both disorders, the some of the symptoms can be similar.
1893678 tn?1322008313 Hi guys, I'm new to this website after reading all your supportive posts about having painful ovarian cysts. I'm 17 and I have been having problems with ovarian cysts since I was 16. Last January, I was 16, and I started feeling severe pelvic pain that wrapped around my back. The pain was so severe I laid on the bathroom floor and cried and cried. My mom then took me to my primary doctor who told me it was only a stomach bug and gave me medicine for the vomitting, and 'stomach bug.
Avatar f tn HI, Even though you may not want any more children, you are too young for a hysterectomy. The bleeding can be stopped with help of haemostatic medicines and with use of hormones like progestins. Also a D&C may sometimes be necessary to stop the bleeding. The ovarian cysts need further evaluation regarding their size and nature. Many of the cysts in young women respond to birth control pills or regress spontaneously. Hence it would be best to consult a gynaecologist for an evaluation.
Avatar f tn Ovarian cysts can cause ovarian enlargement and the majority of ovarian cysts are benign. Did you have a scan to determine if you have visible cysts? Most cysts go away on their own. If this persists for you, you may want to talk to you doctor about the possibility of your having an underlying condition like PCOS or endometriosis. But, even with these conditions, the majority of women are still able to conceive.

Avatar f tn t work follicle stimulating drugs like gonal-f or follistim (injections) can do the trick. If you have you U/S and you have numerous cysts ovarian drilling may also be an option. It is a laproscopic surgery that "pops" you cysts and helps release androgens (male hormones) and almost immediately returns hormones to normal.
Avatar f tn i am on BC which the first month I started I did the ultrasound again about 2 months in and the cyst shrunk and changed from slightly complex to complex, then I recently had another (5months later) and that shows increase in size (only approx 3cm) but from a little under the 2cm on prior- but COMPLEX --- My mothers sister had ovarian cancer and no children...I have no children (37) but have been dealing with this for about 2-3 years ( i lost exact tract) I am also told I do have endo.
Avatar n tn Benign dermoid ovarian cysts uncommonly cause symptoms in young girls. It is estimated that they constitute 0.35% of all tumors occurring in children of both sexes less than 15 years of age. Symptoms produced by the cysts may mimic other intra-abdominal disease, and in three of the four cases reported in this series the girls were initially considered to have either acute appendicitis or infection of the urinary tract. All three had a pelvic mass palpable per rectum.
Avatar f tn can i have children with an ovarian cyst? i had an chimacle pregnacy and lost the baby i was really eairly is this normal? and is this going to happen again?
Avatar f tn I dont know what to do about the ovarain cysts. Is there a treatment for it? if yes than how can i get that done. Does ovarian cysts prevent you from having a baby or stops you from conceiving? please help me and reply back to me.
Avatar n tn Ovarian cysts are extremely common - so do not worry. However, they can also be extremely painful and can grow extremely large. Each month, when a woman ovulates, small follicles form on the outer part of the ovary. These follicles look like little marbles almost through an ultrasound. Now, during your period - these follicles are, keyword here 'supposed' to break free with the lining of your period but for some women, they do not.
Avatar f tn I have gotten ovarian cysts since highschool...It seems getting a second opinion is always wise. I had an grapefruit sized cyst, my dr found during pelvic exam, she had me do an u/s and ct. The ct showed inflamed lymph nodes, the u/s showed the cyst shrinking compared to ct results. I saw an obgyn and he said, it was no cause for concern and surgery could do more damage then good, since mine was resolving itself.
Avatar n tn Most likely yes. I've had several ovarian cysts before I had my children and I fell pregnant within 2 seconds with each one as well.
Avatar f tn They said they will try and save the ovaries but it is unlikely. They might be able to save some healthy ovarian tissue which could help with hormonal treatment afterwards but I will probably have difficulty having children so they are going to freeze some eggs just in case. I am now just waiting for the call but they are hoping to see me again next week. I'm devastated.
Avatar f tn Your recent findings are definitely a concern. It is absolutely too long to wait until March. Are you in the US? If so, you need to find a gynecologic oncologist. Any large, complex mass has a chance of being malignant. But, even benign cysts that are as large as yours run a greater risk of rupture. This could lead to further complications. So, it is important that you get prompt treatment. Unfortunately, the CA-125 test will not tell you if you have a benign or malignant cyst.
Avatar f tn I had 5 lg ovarian cysts that my dr. (OBGYN fertility) wanted to surgically remove from my uterus. I had a friend tell me about CASTER OIL as a remedy for naturally removing the cysts by using "cold pressed caster oil compresses". I tried this and it worked !!!- it actually removed all 5 of my cysts!! Now my doctor is upset with me. Saying it's not safe. Really and surgery is?? People have use caster oil since Before Christ. Why is this not safe?
Avatar n tn If you really want the problem to end, then removal of the ovaries would solve things, IF they are truly ovarian cysts and not ones caused by endometriosis. If endo is the cause, then they would recommend a hysterectomy. All of these are really final decisions and not easy ones to make. If you are young, loss of ovaries can require you to take hormones until you reach an appropriate menopause age.
