My doctor told me i had sciatica in my left leg, and that it would go after 3 or 4 weeks on its own, but it hasnt, and im starting to think my symptoms are maybe that of a cyst/cysts on my ovary. I had the Depo-Provera contraception injection in january, and since that, my symptoms have become alot worse, and ive suffered with persistent bloating and weight gain. But im still unsure as this could be water retention due to the injection.

Turns out I have ovarian cysts, 3 or 4 - the largest being 4.9cm and an enlarged ovary. However, she says my weight is nothing to do with the cysts and that I should go on a diet and do plenty of exercise - if its normal weight it will come off, if its not, it won't! Urghhhhh! What do I have to do to get her to realise that this weight gain is NOT normal for me regardless of the fact that I've just hit 41! Any suggestions anyone?

The best thing to help combat and minimize the occurrence and severity of an ovarian cyst I found was exercise!! The release of serotonin somehow helps.. but I've become an avid Zumba goer and not only did it keep the cysts at bay, but it's a lot of fun..
I went to my primary who thought it was appendicitis on examination even though I mentioned a history of ovarian cysts in my mother, and my aunt died of cancer. The doctor sent me to the emergency room. I underwent a CT scan (which was "normal") and an ultrasound. (I never got the reports.) The ultrasound tech said that it was difficult to "see anything." She said that there was so much contrast from the CT that she could not see my ovaries.

My gyno. says not to worry about my ovarian cyst on my remaining left ovary that she thinks is NOT a chocolate cyst, though the u/s tech (who has been a u/s tech for 15 yrs. and showed me the cyst and other funtional clear cysts-you could see the difference easily! and I have had a choc. cyst before that ruptured, needing emergency surgery-2 pints of blood ended up in my abdomen). The ER Dr. also concurred it is a choc.

i went to the dr. today they told me i either have an ovarian cyst or pregnant. i have to wait on the blood test to confirm.in the mean time they told me to set an appt. for a sonogram..im so scared.but it's weird how ovarian cyst symptoms match preg symp. from the nausea,weight gain,fatigue,heavy urining,etc. any one been through this or know info on it.
2 years back I was told that I have ovarian cysts (the doctor say me once, and told me to go to a specialist, but w/o insurance I could not afford it) The cysts keep reoccurring (or are not going away), and are getting more and more painful. when i asked how big was dermoid she said not big about the size of an orange ,i was told at hospital to ask her to check for pcos as i have all the signs ,she said you dont want to go down that road i am to young and would involve more suregry , so i said what will i do then she said loose weight even though i always had weight since a child ,i think all doctors if it isent weight its smoking they blame i dont understand it either .
