Avatar f tn My doctor told me i had sciatica in my left leg, and that it would go after 3 or 4 weeks on its own, but it hasnt, and im starting to think my symptoms are maybe that of a cyst/cysts on my ovary. I had the Depo-Provera contraception injection in january, and since that, my symptoms have become alot worse, and ive suffered with persistent bloating and weight gain. But im still unsure as this could be water retention due to the injection.
Avatar f tn What symptoms of hypothyroidism were you having when your TSH was 9.63? Did those symptoms improve while on the meds? Are you saying you lost weight that you did not need to lose?
Avatar f tn Have you been diagnosed with PCOS? This condition causes the acne, weight gain and cysts. It is important to follow up with your doctor to see if you have this condition. It may help you avoid future cysts if you get treatment now. Often, hormones can be out of balance without PCOS and it causes those same symptoms. Usually, birth control pills are recommended to try to get your hormones regulated in cases where your system is out of balance.
Avatar f tn So I have looked up symptoms of ovarian cysts and one that caught my eye was weight gain. Has anyone ever gained weight because of cysts? I can not seem to lose any weight. I wonder if the cysts are causing this?
2129701 tn?1335494396 The name "polycystic ovarian syndrome" sems to be somewhat misunderstood. The "polycystic" aspect refers to the multiple ("poly") mini-cyst-like feature of the outer ovary, which, due to this defacto thickening of the tissue, can prevent an ovum from erupting from the ovary. I have had PCOS my whole life, but have never had a singular cyst on one of my ovaries, of the sort that is large enough to be palpated, or cause pain.
Avatar n tn Although it’s not known for sure whether benign ovarian cysts or polycystic ovaries develop into ovarian cancer, the vast majority of ovarian cysts appear to be unrelated. Women who have polycystic ovaries or ovarian cancer seldom have obvious symptoms early on. However, in both disorders, symptoms are noticed as the condition progresses. Because the ovaries are affected on both disorders, the some of the symptoms can be similar.
Avatar m tn I have read on ovarian cysts and symptoms and was just curious for real women to describe what symptoms they have had? For me I really never paid attention to most of them. My main symptom was Menstrual irregularities. Now that it is my 2nd round with the cysts I am more aware of these symptoms. Now I feel the pelvic pain, nausea, bloating, difficulty with urinating, and I feel exhausted all the time. Does anyone else experience that?
Avatar f tn suggested you do ? Ovarian Cysts and ovarian cancer can cause many similar symptoms. There is absolutely no way to tell for certain unless and until surgery is performed and the path results come back. Having said that, cysts are very very common and 95% benign. The best course of action is to speak with your physician to see what his recommended course of action is. They may possibly suggest removal, but sometimes, they prefer to wait awhile to see if they resolve themselves.
Avatar n tn A ct scan is sometimes carried out if ovarian cancer is suspected and you are having symptoms . A diagnosis of ovarian cancer can only for definate be made after pathology review with samples from the tissue. Are you having symptoms ? . A bit more info if possible would be helpful thanks.
Avatar f tn Turns out I have ovarian cysts, 3 or 4 - the largest being 4.9cm and an enlarged ovary. However, she says my weight is nothing to do with the cysts and that I should go on a diet and do plenty of exercise - if its normal weight it will come off, if its not, it won't! Urghhhhh! What do I have to do to get her to realise that this weight gain is NOT normal for me regardless of the fact that I've just hit 41! Any suggestions anyone?
Avatar f tn I suffed from ovarian cysts since I was 14.. I'm 34 now and have just been diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome.. though I haven't had a cyst that has caused me pain or discomfort in years.. The best thing to help combat and minimize the occurrence and severity of an ovarian cyst I found was exercise!! The release of serotonin somehow helps.. but I've become an avid Zumba goer and not only did it keep the cysts at bay, but it's a lot of fun..
Avatar n tn I went to my primary who thought it was appendicitis on examination even though I mentioned a history of ovarian cysts in my mother, and my aunt died of cancer. The doctor sent me to the emergency room. I underwent a CT scan (which was "normal") and an ultrasound. (I never got the reports.) The ultrasound tech said that it was difficult to "see anything." She said that there was so much contrast from the CT that she could not see my ovaries.
Avatar f tn as opposed to cysts only hurt during certain times of month? My gyno. says not to worry about my ovarian cyst on my remaining left ovary that she thinks is NOT a chocolate cyst, though the u/s tech (who has been a u/s tech for 15 yrs. and showed me the cyst and other funtional clear cysts-you could see the difference easily! and I have had a choc. cyst before that ruptured, needing emergency surgery-2 pints of blood ended up in my abdomen). The ER Dr. also concurred it is a choc.
Avatar f tn I also gained some weight and lost my sex drive. Has anyone else had these symptoms w/ ovarian cysts. I have been tested and I am not in menopause! Any advise would be helpful. thanks!
Avatar f tn What is the symptoms of ovarian cysts? i'm having a scan next week on my ovary's because the doctor wants to test for them.
Avatar f tn I think it would be wise to see your gynecologist and ask for a transvaginal ultrasound to rule out ovarian cysts. They can cause the symptoms you describe. He/she may be able to prescribe some medication that will help regulate your hormones or shrink the cysts. Also, have you had your blood sugar checked? You should ask your doctor about the HgA1c blood test rather than just a fasting glucose.
Avatar f tn i went to the dr. today they told me i either have an ovarian cyst or pregnant. i have to wait on the blood test to confirm.in the mean time they told me to set an appt. for a sonogram..im so scared.but it's weird how ovarian cyst symptoms match preg symp. from the nausea, weight gain, fatigue, heavy urining, etc. any one been through this or know info on it.
Avatar f tn I would say that you do have symptoms of an ovarian cyst, but those are also symptoms of other problems as well. I will be anxious to find out what the ultrasound says. I am sorry that you are feeling so badly!! I hope you get some relief soon.
483733 tn?1326798446 You know... I read something the other day that tied smoking to Ovarian Cysts too. Now, I don't know if that's scientific or not.. But I used to be a heavy smoker. . Of course, they tie smoking to just about everything don't they?
1054801 tn?1327948399 It is scary to do an internet search of your symptoms and come up with ovarian cancer. But, both benign and malignant cysts cause similar symptoms and most cysts turn out to be benign. Based on the information you have so far, I would say her chances are very low that this is cancer. The odds are on her side! Unfortunately, with ovarian cancer, there is no way to determine if the cyst is malignant until it is biopsied.
Avatar f tn 2 years back I was told that I have ovarian cysts (the doctor say me once, and told me to go to a specialist, but w/o insurance I could not afford it) The cysts keep reoccurring (or are not going away), and are getting more and more painful. I I have varying amounts of pain day-to-day, ranging from my pelvis, abdomen, lower back, and then down my thighs (when it's really bad). It hurts to cough, sometimes pee, have sex, and walk (when it's really bad).
Avatar n tn Hi, I have a couple of questions about ovarian cyst symptoms. Do ovarian cysts cause mid cycle spotting and lower back pain? And if so how common are these symptoms?
