Avatar f tn suggested you do ? Ovarian Cysts and ovarian cancer can cause many similar symptoms. There is absolutely no way to tell for certain unless and until surgery is performed and the path results come back. Having said that, cysts are very very common and 95% benign. The best course of action is to speak with your physician to see what his recommended course of action is. They may possibly suggest removal, but sometimes, they prefer to wait awhile to see if they resolve themselves.
Avatar n tn i read on a medical web page not long after finding out that i myself have a hemmhoragic cyst on my left ovary that fertility drugs can help to cause ovarian cysts because most ovarian cysts are caused by the eggs not making it all the way out of the ovary or something of that sort and they just kind of pile up inside of the ovary and form a cyst. however, i did read that most ovarian cysts go away sometime during ovulation.
Avatar f tn This will give them a good view of your ovary and any cysts that you may have. Please rest assured that ovarian cysts and cancer have most of the same symptoms. 95% of ovarian cysts are non cancerous. It is common to have pain during exercise, sex, and sitting for long periods of time when you have an ovarian cyst. Please keep us updated on how you are doing.
Avatar f tn I have been having lower abdomen problems (burning constantly) for about a year. I have been seeing a Gastroenterologist and have numerous test done and have been diagnosed with GERD and Barretts Esophagus and IBS. I take medication and watch what I eat but nothing helps. I had a CT Scan for these problems and it showed a cystic mass on my ovary so I had to go to my Gyn and had a Pelvic Sonogram. I have read that sometimes Ovarian Cancer can have the same symptoms as these other problems.
Avatar m tn As the other poster said, larger ovarian cysts can cause urinary urgency. So can large uterine fibroids. Most cysts go away on their own within 2 or 3 cycles so I would not worry much unless your symptoms worsen especially if you start having pain which could be a sign of the cyst rupturing, leaking, or twisting the ovary. Since most cysts resolve on there own, there should not be any impact on fertility.
1324051 tn?1275414812 Hi there, I am new to this site. I am a 32 yr old female with no children. I am 5 ft 2 and 104 pounds. I quit taking birth control about 3 months ago or so after taking the pill from the age of 16. A month an a half ago, I had pain when I sat down and general discomfort/pressure in my pelvic region. I was also feeling like I had to urinate a lot. I'd never dealt with this before, so I went to my family doctor. He gave no urine culture but said he thought I had a UTI.
Avatar f tn The concern is if they get too large, they can cause the ovary to twist on itself (ovarian torsion) which can cause the ovary to die. However, you have the risk of losing the ovary with surgery too. Hopefully, your gynecologist or any other you would choose would have good cystectomy (cyst removal) skills so you would not have to lose your ovary since that can hinder fertility.
906877 tn?1335122417 I am due to have cysts removed on tues next week, i read alot of people on here talk about IBS type symptoms being linked with this, is this right?? Can ovarian cysts cause stomach aches etc because if they do then it would explain alot!!!!!! Many thanks, Claire.
Avatar f tn 7cms No fibroid... Both ovaries are prominent with small 3-4mm cysts.. And right ovary volume 11.1ml and left ovary vol 10.5ml... missed last month period... What you suggest?
Avatar n tn That really is a good sized cyst.(is that mm or cm?) Have you been having other symptoms? Some ovarian cysts can grow quite large... I'm sure some of the ladies will post that have had some large ones. Having a cyst does not indicate cancer -even large ones. What has your Dr. advised? I would imagine they would be thinking of surgical removal.. There is a link at the top right of this page "Health Pages". Try to check this out. . good information on cysts .
Avatar n tn Also the dermoid can be diagnosed on ultrasound. Functional ovarian cysts resolve spontaneously many times. For the rest surgical management becomes necessary especially if they are large. Consult your Doctor. Hope this helps.
Avatar m tn After reading a lot on the internet, it seems that removing it more common than watching and waiting, but I cannot find any discussion about removing the ovary in a perimenopausal woman. I understand that my right ovary would continue to function, but wonder if there is an underlying risk of which I am not aware.
Avatar f tn im 35 yrs old and 3 days ago, i was told by my GYN that i have a 2cm ovarian cyst on my left ovary......she said we have to wait for a month or two to have it check again as it is still small.....but my worry is that i'm having constant pain everyday......sometimes it gets severe.....my gyn only give me ibuprofen to take.does this causes severe pain????or im the only one? i might go for a second opinion esp with the pain i;m experiencing. thanks.god bless.
254714 tn?1316613355 97 cm in size no significant change in the cyst size in the right ovary noted from prior examanition performed on 12/22/09 and decreased in the size of the left ovarian cyst noted. futher clinical correlation and follow up recommended.
Avatar n tn Although it’s not known for sure whether benign ovarian cysts or polycystic ovaries develop into ovarian cancer, the vast majority of ovarian cysts appear to be unrelated. Women who have polycystic ovaries or ovarian cancer seldom have obvious symptoms early on. However, in both disorders, symptoms are noticed as the condition progresses. Because the ovaries are affected on both disorders, the some of the symptoms can be similar.
Avatar f tn as opposed to cysts only hurt during certain times of month? My gyno. says not to worry about my ovarian cyst on my remaining left ovary that she thinks is NOT a chocolate cyst, though the u/s tech (who has been a u/s tech for 15 yrs. and showed me the cyst and other funtional clear cysts-you could see the difference easily! and I have had a choc. cyst before that ruptured, needing emergency surgery-2 pints of blood ended up in my abdomen). The ER Dr. also concurred it is a choc.
Avatar f tn Gyne did an U/S which showed a 5 cm septated cyst- and is concerned of ovarian cancer due to symptoms. I had a complex ovarian cyst on opposite ovary a year ago, but no symptoms. It resolved on its own within 5-6 months. I'm just worried. I have 2 little girls, and I am a worrier anyways. Any helpful info? They are going to do MRI and bloodwork, then I can either schedule to see a specialist for 2nd opinion/ more info, or have my R overt removed.
Avatar f tn Did your doctor not follow up on this ultrasound? The odds are good you don't have it but you should have another transvaginal ultrasound to know your current status. The symptoms of ovarian cancer and cysts are very similar. In many cases they can't be sure until a cyst is removed and biopsied. Please don't ignore this.
Avatar m tn It would be unusual for her to have a problem with the remaining ovary. Usually, ovarian cysts pose no other issue once they have been removed. She should talk to her doctor to make sure there was not anything unusual about her cyst that could affect the other ovary. But, in general, she should be fine!
Avatar f tn 1 cm. A few small subcentimeter left follicular ovarian cysts are identified. There is no longer evidence of previously described 2.0 cm complex left ovarian cyst. The right ovary measures 3.8 x 2.0 x 4.0 cm and contains a thick walled complex right ovarian cyst measuring 3.4 x 1.4 x 4.0 cm. This was not noted on prior MRI examination. Clinical correlation and close follow-up is recommended. Small amount of free fluid is noted within the cul-de-sac. Impression: Status post hysterectomy.
Avatar f tn When the follicles are forming small cysts may be present in the normal ovary. These ovarian cysts which start during the normal function of menstrual cycle are called functional cysts which are of two types follicular cyst and corpus luteal cyst. Most of these cysts are harmless and disappear over a period of time. They are usually asymptomatic. In few patients cysts may cause menstrual irregularities, pelvic pain. In such cases medical help should be sought.
Avatar n tn Hot flashes, emotional upheavals, erratic periods and insomnia are some of the usual symptoms of peri-menopause. Your doctor can monitor the cysts, make sure they don't get too large or cause problems.
