564029 tn?1216423219 There are different types of cysts, you can go to the link on the top of this page on the right that says health forum, and there is a list for all types of ovarian cysts. Did your dr. tell you what kind of cyst you have? Have you had a TV/US? During your reproductive years it is very common to get functional ovarian cysts that can disappear after a few menstrual cycles. Could it be your doctor is doing a watchful waiting to see if they go away? How long have you had the cyst?
Avatar f tn t know anything about ovarian cysts, I need to do some research on it. My main concern is that we are trying to get pregnant again and I don't want them to affect anything. I don't know what happens when they rupture, or is there any symptoms where you can tell if you have one? I'd like any info please. Thanks!
Avatar f tn Majority of women do experience ovarian cysts and they generally do go away on their own without any damage. Caution that if it is on the larger size then it could rupture or twist in which you will experience extreme pain. If this happens it is an emergent situation and you need to go to the ER. Many women find that they need to get second and third opinions in order to get answers they need from someone they trust.
Avatar f tn Mostly they are symptomless But Ovarian cysts can, however, cause problems if they twist, bleed, or rupture. Most ovarian cysts will go away on their own. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
1473788 tn?1286975127 I am 23 years old and I have had so many ovarian cysts rupture that I have lost count! It's affecting my life dramatically. I have a cyst rupture every few months. I was put on birth control to regulate the growth but I have 2 different types of cysts and the larger ones that my fallopian tubes wrap around aren't controlled by the medication. When I was 16 I was having pelvic discomfort and my abdomen was distended. I looked about 6 months pregnant.
Avatar f tn I am 49 and have a long history of simple ovarian cysts which cause a lot of pain. I had one of these in early May. When I went back for another vaginal ultrasound 6 weeks later, the cyst on the right was gone, but there was now a 4.7 cm, irregularly shaped septated cyst on the left ovary. I am having another ultrasound tomorrow, but am very worried because I have been experiencing almost all of the typical symptoms of oc. I need honest insight into the situation. Thanks!

Avatar f tn I talked today to a Gynocological Oncologyst who said these biopsies are tricky because if you open that ovary and there is cancer, it can spread if the GYN is not trained to deal with removing these types of cysts and/or ovaries. These experts suggest a second opinion because they would know how to handle the situation if it is cancer.
Avatar f tn I have posted here before in greater detail of my problem, but to make a long story somewhat short... This past year, I had three ovarian cysts rupture (2 were diagnosed -through u/s for the second rupture, and through ct scan for the third rupture). I also had the exact episode happen in February, but did not know what it was as I did not seek medical attention. I had been having these episodes happen numerous times over the years, but never knew what it was until now.
Avatar n tn A transvaginal ultrasound (TV) is the most valuable diagnostic study in the evaluation of an adnexal or pelvic mass/suspicious cysts. Cysts, hemorrhagic cysts, endometriomas, and dermoids have a high predictive diagnosis via TV ultrasound. An MRI is usually the next test that should be given as they are more precise when read by the right radiologist.
Avatar f tn I have the same types of pain myself when my cysts rupture. It's an intense cramping and I almost always have it on my right side. There's really nothing to do about it. However I started the Adkins diet (low carbs low sugar) and I've noticed a huge difference. It might not work for everybody but I have noticed a change in how painful the cysts bursting feels. Not to mention sex is much easier for me too. Like I said it may not work for everybody but it has for me. Good luck to you!
Avatar m tn They should work you in sooner given your symptoms. Some types of cysts can grow more rapidly than others and the risk of rupture increases as the size increases. Do you know if it is complex? What type of surgeon are you seeing? Any complex cyst over 5cm has a slight possibility of being malignant. If your find your mass is complex, you need to see a gynecologic oncologist prior to your surgery.
Avatar f tn I am not a doctor, but both my daughter and I have had surgeries to remove ovarian cysts (different types) removed within the past 2 months. From what I understand, 3.1 cm is moderately small, and the fact that it has fluid is also a positive sign that it may be a simple, follicular cyst. I believe that these types of cysts are fairly common, occur with the normal process of ovulation, are usually benign, and often disappear on their own or stop growing on their own.
Avatar f tn There are other types of ovarian cancer that are hormone driven and depending which form a person has there will be excess symptoms of that specific hormone. This is the type my wife was Dx with granulosa cell ca. These group type are called sex cord -stromal tumors. These type of tumors have specific markes that the Dr's use just like ca-125 to aide in their dx of epitheal ovarian ca. They are Inhibin A&B and MIS.

Cysts, hemorrhagic cysts, endometriomas, and dermoids have a high predictive diagnosis via TV ultrasound. The blood test CA-125 is a test used by Dr's as a guide to determine if you have the most common form of ovarian cancer, approximately 80% of all ovarian cancers are epitheal ovarian cancer which is cancer of the cells on the surface of your ovary.
Avatar f tn Hello. 43 yo female here. In November I had an ultrasound done after having severe abd pain that almost sent me to the ER. All that was seen were some small fibroids. But that was not new. My doctor suspected a ruptured cyst but could not be certain. He asked me to return in January for a repeat ultrasound. At that appt they could not visualize my right ovary due to 2 complex cysts. One is 3 cm that is filled with blood. The other is 5 cm that is septated with vascular flow.

Get a copy of your TV(you are entitled to it) and post the exact results An MRI is usually the next test that should be given as they are more precise when read by the right radiologist.

Avatar f tn It is obviously causing you a great deal of discomfort so there is even more reason to go get it taken care of. Usually these types of cysts dont cause discomort unless they rupture or cause other complications so you should defenitly make an appointment to have it looked at by your DR as soon as possible. It is a fixable problem and after it is fixed you will not need to rely on pain medication.
1813956 tn?1316715823 I'm assuming you are pregnant if posting on this board. When you ovulate, your ovary releases an egg and once the egg is fertilized and implants, that follicle sustains the pregnancy by releasing hormones until the 2nd trimester where the placenta picks up. What can happen is the follicle (the corpus luteum) can fill with fluid or blood and become enlarged (cyst), this is very common in early pregnancy.
Avatar f tn Hello, I will be having a vaginal hysterectomy leaving my ovaries due to multiple pelvic prolapse and chronic pelvic pain. I have been torn over this decision for years since nothing was pathalogically wrong. To prepare for surgery I have been obtaining all my records for my surgeon who was concerned about my last two transvaginal scans. I was only informed I had a small cyst nothing to worry about at that time.
Avatar f tn I am new member but have been reading previous posts and am so glad to hear from others that understand what it is like to live with ruptured ovarian cysts! In the past twelve months, I have had five ruptured ovarian cysts (always on my left side) and had all the symptoms discussed by others. I had a cyst rupture a week ago today and it is the worst one I have ever had. The pain has been much worse than previous ruptured cysts and has lasted longer. Usually, my peak pain lasts a few days.
Avatar f tn I do not think menstrual clotting is an indication of a rupture. Cysts are outside the uterus (if they are true ovarian cysts), and ruptured ones would not show up in menstruation.
1284894 tn?1272171454 t want he to have to go though that and be scared. I have read that certain cysts can rupture while others have more chance of twisting. What kind of cysts have you had? Thank you.
