Common Questions and Answers about Ovarian cysts rupture periods

ovarian-cysts

Avatar f tn I do not think menstrual clotting is an indication of a rupture. Cysts are outside the uterus (if they are true ovarian cysts), and ruptured ones would not show up in menstruation.
Avatar n tn I am not sexually active, but I do have a few questions concerning my period with ovarian cysts. Usually my periods are normal when I have ruptures, and I had a rupture 2 weeks ago on Thursday. I've been lightly cramping in my right ovary since. My last menstural cycle started on the 16th of last month, and I'm usually always 28-29 days apart. No period yet. I'm cramping like crazy and eating until I can't eat anymore. Any advice?
1295419 tn?1276822872 In the last 8 weeks I have had 3 ovarian cysts rupture. The first two were shortly before my period started and caused intense pain which landed me in the ER. The last was yesterday, which was also painful and a trip to the ER. I haven't started my period yet but I assume I will soon. I had one other ovarian cyst rupture in my lifetime which was about 6 months after going off birth control and 6 months before getting pregnant. I have so many of the PCOS symptoms.
Avatar n tn Mostly they are symptomless But Ovarian cysts can, however, cause problems if they twist, bleed, or rupture. Most ovarian cysts will go away on their own. One of the most effective treatments for ovarian cysts is use of contraceptive pills or progesterone pills. It can also be treated surgically and this procedure is known as drilling. Other modes of treatment are laparoscopic surgery, laparotomy or surgery for complicated ovarian cysts.
Avatar m tn No, or I should say highly unlikely. Ovarian cysts may rupture or 'twist' and when that happens it will feel like sharp stabbing pains. You may also get, as part of cysts, irregular periods or heavier periods. Your physician/obgyn (or the ER depending on pain level, etc) should be contacted in any of those cases or when anything 'feels' different. But, no, dying is not likely. The physician can give you more details.
1473788 tn?1286975127 I am 23 years old and I have had so many ovarian cysts rupture that I have lost count! It's affecting my life dramatically. I have a cyst rupture every few months. I was put on birth control to regulate the growth but I have 2 different types of cysts and the larger ones that my fallopian tubes wrap around aren't controlled by the medication. When I was 16 I was having pelvic discomfort and my abdomen was distended. I looked about 6 months pregnant.
1720730 tn?1309294631 i am 15 and i have had two very large ovarian cysts and i had my right ovary taken out last august and now i found out that i have another ovarian cyst on my left ovary and i am very scared what are some ways to treat it besides surgery it is a large hemorrhagic ovarian cyst.
13415927 tn?1430701518 im 27 and my gynecologist has stopped my periods as she says they tend to cause cysts. im not overly worried about it as reading other posts i know im not too bad. but they are very painful, any warning signs i should be looking for?
Avatar m tn i have had ovarian cysts in the past and they are the most painful thing i have ever encountered. i had one rupture on me 2 weeks ago. i am still having pain in my lower stomach, bloating, and now very painful sex, poops and pees. which is something that i have never had before when this has happen. i have always had rough periods, heavy flow and bad bad cramps. i was wondering if i should be worried about this?
Avatar f tn bloating, cramping, back pain, thigh pain, nausea, problematic periods, and many others as well. If I were you, I would get an appointment with your gynecologist and have her answer your question. It is possible that you are feeling symptoms (mentioned above) because you have other cysts. Good luck and please keep us updated on how you are doing. Prayers coming your way.
Avatar f tn I have posted here before in greater detail of my problem, but to make a long story somewhat short... This past year, I had three ovarian cysts rupture (2 were diagnosed -through u/s for the second rupture, and through ct scan for the third rupture). I also had the exact episode happen in February, but did not know what it was as I did not seek medical attention. I had been having these episodes happen numerous times over the years, but never knew what it was until now.
Avatar f tn Hello, Mostly ovarian cysts are symptomless But Ovarian cysts can, however, cause problems if they twist, bleed, or rupture. You seem to be having the symptoms of metrorrhagia(heavy periods). Various factors causing it are endometriosis, ectopic pregnancy, hormone imbalance, endometrial hyperplasia, polyps, use of IUD’s and depo shots, sexually transmitted diseases,PCOS and benign and malignant pathologies of the uterus.
Avatar m tn My two daughters had numerous bouts with ovarian cysts and all of them ruptured before any surgery. They, too, experienced great relief after the cysts finally ruptured...so you're right on target. They both were on birth control before AND after the cysts...they reported that they had less cysts AFTER the birth control was increased for a short time to taking it constantly without the 7 day rest for a period. This allowed their ovaries to rest and not produce eggs.
1503875 tn?1290902087 He said oh theres nothing on the cat scan, but you do have abdominal fluid caused by burst ovarian cysts. He wouldnt give me any other info other than to say its no big deal and walked out. So I am left wondering, what next? The nurse wasn't any help either because she said she didnt know what that meant and maybe if she had extra time later she would google it. I was released at 2:30am barely able to walk and still screaming in pain.
Avatar f tn It can be an ovarian cyst. Cysts are fluid-filled sacs that can form in the ovaries. They are common in child bearing age. Mostly they are symptomless But Ovarian cysts can, however, cause problems if they twist, bleed, or rupture. Get a repeat ultrasound or CT scan done after a few days. preferably after the periods. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar f tn Once the pain becomes less a pelvic examination and an ultrasound scan will help make the diagnosis. Ovarian cysts (rupture or torsion), and endometriosis are the major causes of pain. Consult your gynaecologist for an evaluation. The answer is based on information provided. Exact advice is not possible without a proper examination and investigations. You are requested to consult your Doctor. Take care and keep us posted.
Avatar m tn It is actually quite common for cysts to rupture like this, and they usually heal themselves without the need for surgery. Hope this helps!
Avatar n tn I have had darker periods, or very brown any time I had an Ovarian Cyst rupture. Mine are hormonal, so that might be why, if you have pain or cysts that could be a cause.
Avatar f tn Ok so my pelvic area feels ok now still a little achey though. Do ovarian cysts cause sharp jolting pain to my backside. Does this sound like an ovarian cyst? For any ladies that have had them what were ur symptoms? On a scale of 1 to 10 what would u rate ur pain? The other day mine was about a 12! I was bawling my eyes out! I do have PCOS (diagnosed last yr) BUT I have never had a cyst before.
Avatar f tn Majority of women do experience ovarian cysts and they generally do go away on their own without any damage. Caution that if it is on the larger size then it could rupture or twist in which you will experience extreme pain. If this happens it is an emergent situation and you need to go to the ER. Many women find that they need to get second and third opinions in order to get answers they need from someone they trust.
Avatar n tn Hi Normally a cyst over 5cm is removed via keyhole or open surgery (depending on type of cyst) Because of the pain u are getting it's prob not a good idea to do the "wait and see" approach because cysts can rupture or twist ur fallopian tube or ovary. The pill is one option that they might try to see if it reduces in size.
1284894 tn?1272171454 t want he to have to go though that and be scared. I have read that certain cysts can rupture while others have more chance of twisting. What kind of cysts have you had? Thank you.
Avatar f tn Have you ever discussed this with your doctor? Have you had ultrasounds done to check if you have cysts? Cysts can cause ovulation problems if they don't shrink/rupture like they're supposed to. I have PCOS and I always had irregular periods until they stopped coming altogether. What has your doctor told you about all this? I myself have had brown periods as well; perhaps it's old discharge that is barely coming out. Cycles can be weird or nonexistant with PCOS.
Avatar n tn I hear that ovarian cysts have the same symptoms as pregnancy. Anyone have experience with them and can tell the difference?
