I have had a sharp pain on my left side under the ribs and I assume near the heart. So fairly similar. You have to mention other symptoms like shortness of breath paralysis on one side before It can be definitive. I had a near collapsed lung in my 20s which cause the same symptoms as your describing which reduced merely by taking some time out and relaxing.
I've gone 4 days with no pain, and the last time I had the pelvic pain was the day I started spotting. I just wondered if this sounds like ovarian cysts issues or if I might have something else that they are not seeing. It seems to be going away, but every time I think that, I feel the mysterious discomfort again and start getting nervous. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's nothing major.
Thirdly ,ovarian cysts and ectopic pregnancy can also cause such pain under the ribs. Fourthly,it can be due to rib fracture or costochondritis(an inflammation of the joints in your chest. Lastly,an important cause of such pain is inflammatory bowel disease(Crohn’s disease) Try an anti-inflammatory medicine to relieve the pain. Heat compresses may also help.If the pain still persists then pls consult a physician and discuss the above stated possibilities with him.

I have the charlie horses in various places around my body, legs, feet, hands, under the ribs, under the breasts, etc. The pain can be excruciating. It can literally bend me over, make me cry, and scream out in pain. It happens in the shower, walking, using the bathroom, sitting in a chair, sleeping, etc. There is no particular time that this occurs. I can be doing nothing at all but laying on the sofa watching TV. If I get them in my legs, I have to walk them out.
Fouth possibility is of underlying lung pathology which is pressing upon the diaphragm and causing pain.CT chest may be needed. Lastly,an important cause of such pain is ovarian cysts causing referred pain under the ribs. It would be better to get CT abdomen done which can clear cut confirm a diagnosis from the above possibilities.Pls consult a gastroenterologist and get CT abdomen done. Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Before I had surgery I had a lot of pain in my upper abdomen and under the ribs. I went to a massage therapist who was trained in dealing with scar tissue. She worked on that area and after two treatments I was amazed at the reduction of pain and the swelling in that area went down. It never came back to that area. It's something that might be worth a try for you. Good luck.
Yes, bloating and intense pain do belong to the symptoms of ovarian cysts. Try to drink an alchemilla herbal infusion 2x a day, you should get relief in few days! Also keep yourself warm, hot water bottle maybe. Good luck.
food cravings, and an increased appetite, headaches, dizziness, leg cramps, heartburn, nasal congestion, nose bleeds, rib pain, and indigestion are NOT signs of cysts! With cysts u get a bloated feeling, but the pain, if any, is in ur pelvis! These r however, ALL signs of pregnancy! I myself had no trouble at all with the cysts during pregnancy... if fact, I didn't know they were there!!!
I also have had endometriosis for 20 years. Can the ovarian cyst be causing rib pain? My ribs, back and abdomen hurt on my right side. The pain is almost unbearable. I feel it constantly. I also have bouts of constipation and diarrhea. I've also gained weight. I'm scheduled for a hysterectomy in a month but I'm not sure I can wait that long. Is all this normal? I feel like I'm going crazy.
It has moved a lot right now it is mostly in my kidneys and upper abdomen (in between my ribs) My PCP said she thought I had a cyst rupture weeks ago(no proof though) and that my pain is from fluid moving around in my peritoneum. Does this pain sound like anything anyone here has experienced with ovarian cysts???also, I don't do well with narcotics. The norco they tried made my thoughts funny. I am only taking Ibuprofen. Does anyone have any other ideas for pain relief?
So I'm 22 yrs old I've had severe back pain along with pain under my ribs I started my period yesterday and it was more severe than normal do u have any advice as 2 wat might b wrong
I'd had a CT scan a few months ago that had shown ovarian cysts, other than that it was normal. I was advised if I didn't feel better in a week I would be sent for a special x-ray. Also, my Dr took blood to check my liver and for a stomach infection, no word on that yet. All other blood tests have turned out fine. Thanks for taking the time to read my question.
you describe some symptoms I've been having for weeks now - to a "T". {Pain and pressure under right ribs, pain is mild and intermittant.) I've had same responses from MD's as well. I don't have much faith in medical community either. I can also relate to many of the responses from others posted here.
I have had pain under and below my left ribs for over a year. The pain is sometimes sharp, and sometimes juts feels like a cramp. Its sore when I press against the pain, but I also feel pain in my lower back, which when pressed is also painful. This pain under my ribs/lower back comes and goes and can last from a few mins to about 1/2 hour. I also seem to be either constipated or have diahorrea/very soft stools. Is this IBS or could it be a kidney infection? Any advice appreciated...
i found out about 2 weeks ago that i have a hemmhoragic ovarian cyst. i went to urgent care with pain in my left ovary and they sent me for an ultrasound less than a week later. they didn't tell me how big the cyst is but they said that they want me to go back in about 3-4 weeks (from the date i found out which leaves me with about another 1-2 weeks) and get another ultrasound to see if it shrinks any on its own.
My pain is dull and constant in the URQ, sometimes it feels worse (more sharp) right under my ribs on the right side, close to the center. But the dull pain is there always. Blood and urine came back ok but I was petrified to go for scan. Three days ago,(this has been going on for 2 months I got up some courage and went to the E.R. I didn't tell the er doc that I saw a doctor previosly. He also ordered blood, urine and sonogram of URQ.
I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia/myofascia pain syndrom and suffered with severe pain in my lower left side just under where the ribs end. With no health coverage I was unable to afford to get this checked out. The health department was unable to assist as they only deal with non specialty issues. When I finally got my disability I was given Medicaid Share of Cost.
I too have side pain under my lower ribs on my right side. I've so far taken acid reflux meds , an Ultra Sound, and an Upper Endoscopy. The Acid Reflux meds didn't help/hurt the pain, the Ultra Sound came back normal, and the Upper Endoscopy came back normal as well. The pain started after I got Mono and Hep A (caused by the mono, and has now cleared up) about 7 months ago and has been getting worse every month.
I've gone up 2 pant sizes in less than 3 months. I get dull aching in my lower back, I get pain on the sides under ribs, I have leg pain that prevents me from sleeping through the night. I recently went to the doctors concerned. He ran a few blood tests CBC's and Iron levels, thyroid and hormones. They all came back normal. He sent me for a pelvic ultrasound and this morning has told me that it showed "thickening of the edometrial lining" and a rather large cyst on my Right ovary.
I am kinda bloated now not sure if it's from being gassy or period. What is going on? I have heard stuff about ovarian cysts and it's scaring me... Please help. Thanks in advanced.
After a CT scan, I was told that I had two cysts on my right ovary and one on the left. This is not a big deal for me b/c I have a long history of ovarian cysts. I was told that the cysts on my right ovary were 6 cm and 7 cm. The one on my left ovary is 4 cm. He said to rest so that it doesn't rupture and follow up with my ob/gyn. I can't do anything today b/c it's Christmas Eve. Merry Christmas to me! LOL! Do cysts of this size normall disappear on their own?
I have been having tests since Feb 9th, 2006. My abdomen was swelling, left side leg pain, pain under ribs, fatigued. Gyn did trans vag said I had tiny fibroid. CT in late Feb. reads probably ovarian cyst. Told prob. IBS sent to GP. Checked gallbladder U/S, no stones. Told prob. IBS sent to Gastro. Had Endo/Colonscopy. Told small hiatal hernia, ulceration in stomach, upper polyps removed. Still rib pain, Gallbladder surgery in June after Hidascan score 20.
Hi I dont want to sound like im a hypercondriac but the abdomial pain that women experince with ovarian cancer is it lower or upper pain. I have upper stomach pain for over a yr now. Hi All, Thank you for your postings. I have uterine fibroids and ovarian cysts as well. I am learning from everyone's experiences and feeling some hope. My regular GYN said I did not need surgery unitl after I get pregnant he can remove the fibroids & cysts but I'm getting a lot of pelvic & side pain & also deferred pain under my ribs sometimes. I decided to make an appt with an OBGYN surgeon for minimally invasive surgery to have these taken out and get it biopsied.
