Avatar f tn Try not to worry because most cysts do turn out to be benign...even large ones. But, since you are post menopausal and your mass is so large...you should consult a gynecolgical oncologist just to be safe. If it is malignant a gynecologic oncologist will be more skilled at removing the tumor without spreading the contents and he can remove other areas of tumor and stage your cancer all in the same surgery. It will be very important to biopsy many areas of your mass since it is so large.
Avatar n tn I have one ovary that has a small cyst 22x21x28. the left ovary is has a large mass measuring 53x82x74...what does that mean. could it be ovarian cancer.
Avatar f tn A transvaginal ultrasound (TV) is the most valuable diagnostic study in the evaluation of an adnexal or pelvic mass/suspicious cysts. Cysts, hemorrhagic cysts, endometriomas, and dermoids have a high predictive diagnosis via TV ultrasound. Get a copy of your TV(you are entitled to it) and post the exact results An MRI is usually the next test that should be given as they are more precise when read by the right radiologist.
Avatar f tn At such a young age it can be dermoid cyst which is a type of complex ovarian cyst and is the most common type and develops during the childbearing age. Complex ovarian cysts are generally benign. The risk of malignancy is generally higher among postmenopausal women. Most ovarian cysts disappear in 8 to 12 weeks. If they persist then before going in for surgery we can try the birth control pills also.
334400 tn?1276894313 I had 5 surgeries for benign cysts and several that just burst. Now that hurt!!!! With the large malignant ones they were pressing on a nerve and I could barely walk. Most people will tell you they can't tell if it is cancer or not prior to surgery but that is just not true. My onc told me I had cancer, and quite likely advanced cancer prior to surgery.
Avatar f tn Drs discovered I had PCOS in my right ovary and a large mass on the left (7cm). tests and an MRI were done and I was told today they are not 100% sure what it is and needs removal via Surgery (not key hole) The mass and my ovary and tube will be going. I will be having a biopsy to check it and the surgeon is going to do all he can to preserve my fertility. I am not in any pain, just a few niggles every now and again.

Avatar f tn I have been dealing with Ovarian Cysts of and on for the past 5 years. They topically just come and go never have I been in pain from them and the never got any bigger than a centimeter. I just had an ultra sound that showed a large black mass attached to my right ovary. I have an IUD in place and for the past month I have had abdominal pain ranging from sever to managable. I also have bouts of nausea and constipation.
Avatar n tn Hello, Just found this website after a google search and am after a bit of reassurance. My sister (30 years old) has been told she has two very large cysts on her right ovary (both bigger than oranges). She is currently living in the UK and her doctors have decided to operate to remove not only the cysts but also the right ovary. She does not have children yet, but her and her partner want them.
Avatar m tn Instead of taking the time to extricate my perfectly healthy ovary from the mass of tissue frim cysts surrounding it, he just removed the mass. Since then, i have had four surgeries on my other ovary and what do you know? It's still there AND I HAVE A BABY. Do not stick with gyno you don't like. A second opinion is always within your right. Changing doctors is always in your right.
Avatar f tn my vaginal ultrasounds were done after the CT and neither saw the large mass on the ovary I am still following up on the results of all three tests, but wonder if anyone can give me good news or help me feel less stressed until I get more infomation.
Avatar n tn There are several types of cysts and some can grow very large. 95% of cysts, even bigger cysts and complex cysts, are benign. Some more discovery needs to be done first. Your sister's gyne may order a CA-125 blood test first. All my cysts have been complex or "somewhat complex" and all have been benign. Take care and try to distract yourself from worrying too much.
Avatar n tn I have a large mass on my left ovary and 2 cysts by it and my ca125 test came out high could this be something other than cancer.
Avatar n tn It sounds like your cyst is simple (fluid filled) which is not how ovarian cancer shows on a scan. You would likely have a large (5cm or greater), complex mass (has solid parts). Cysts can really hurt! They also can persist. Heat was always very helpful for me. Both hot baths and microwave heat packs can get you some pain relief. But, if the pain persists, you should go back to your doctor see if anything has changed. If your cyst has grown or changed, it could account for the pain.
Avatar n tn And my results said I have two simple cysts on my left ovary and complex cystic mass on the same side. It says it may represent an endometrioma, or a possibly a cystic neoplasm. My question is what are some of the procedures that can be done to remove the mass and cysts? And does smoking increase the risks of them growing in size?
511289 tn?1266173730 I WAS TOLD ON THURSDAY BY MY GYN THAT DURING A PELVIC EXAM THAT HE FOUND A LARGE MASS ON MY OVARIES AND DID NOT KNOW WHICH OVARY IT WAS ON BECAUSE OF HOW LARGE IT WAS. I HAD THE CA125 TEST RAN AND AM WAITING ON THE RESULTS AND NOW I HAVE TO HAVE TRANSVAGINAL ULTRASOUND. I THINK IT IS A CYST BUT ON THE OTHER HAND HE DID TELL ME I HAD TO HAVE SURGERY IMMEDIATELY BECAUSE IT WAS BAD. I AM SCARED.

1295419 tn?1276822872 Hi, I was in the ER a few nights ago with a ruptured ovarian cyst. Upon ultrasound, a "moderate" amount of fluid was seen, as well as, an adnexal mass. The mass was "complex", I suppose meaning there were cystic and solid parts. I am only 26 and I have 1 child, there is no history of ovarian cancer in my family. My grandma had breast cancer, but was not diagnosed until she was 50 +.
Avatar n tn I am not familiar with the volume measurements and what that could mean. However, the sizes of your follicular cysts don't seem worrisome. Ovarian cancer usually shows up as a large, complex adnexal mass. They sound like simple cysts that will resolve on their own in time.
Avatar f tn I too have developed Ovarian Cysts...and have no ovaries. There is something called Ovarian Remnant Syndrome....if just one ovarian cell is left behind at time of surgery, you can develop ovarian cysts, masses, etc. There is not alot of info about ORS out there, but, if you do some "googling" you will find more info. Best of luck to you.
