1296191 tn?1280699873 They observed that I have a bruised fatty liver and a ton of stool in my large intestine (which I have since cleared out). The doctors then gave me a CAT scan, where they observed that my appendix is normal, but one or more lymph nodes in the area are swollen. That was the diagnosis the doctors gave me. I was told to take Aleve for the pain, which didn't work. The pain didn't improve at all, so I went to my regular doctor a while later.
Avatar f tn When I was researching ovarian cancer on the internet pre-surgery I felt I had a 95%+ chance of having ovarian cancer due to having bilateral ovarian cysts (both the size of oranges and growing) and I had a CA 125 of 256. Luckily I am cancer free. I had a hysterectomy with the removal of my ovaries. during suregry the dr found I had severe endometriosis - I never knew I had endometriosis before the surgery.
Avatar n tn Well first I am sorry to hear about the situation. However ovarian cysts are very common, they can get extremely large; some causing pain and some that are cause no problems. Most women have cysts and never even know it. The reason for the hysterectomy is due to the HIGH risk of female cancers the metastasize to the uterus, endometrium and cervix that then in turn can follow to the peritoneal cavitiy and so on and so forth.
600910 tn?1219728369 It is very normal for cysts to form on your ovaries at different times in your cycle and sometimes those cysts burst causing a lot of pain. As far as I know, there must be tumors of some sort in order to have OvCa...if there was a cyst in the CT Scan and gone in the sono that the cyst burst or went away. If the pain continues, track the times of the month that it happens and discuss it with a gyn. Best of luck to you and for more information on cysts, you might want to go to the cyst forum.

501229 tn?1210133631 “Even for large cysts - those that are more than 3 inches (similar size to my cyst) in diameter - normal ovarian tissue can almost always be saved. Remember that the ovaries contain hundreds of thousands of eggs, so that the loss of a small number should not make a difference in your fertility, your hormone levels or the age at which your menopause will begin.
Avatar f tn I have a large functional cyst on each ovary. The left ovarian cyst is about 6.5 cm and the right ovarian cys is about 8.5 cm. I have been on birth control pills for over 2 years and my bloodwork for hormones all came back at normal levels. I am curious about why these cysts may have formed and are they a sign of future problems?

Avatar f tn I suppose a high creatinine level could indirectly be related to ovarian cysts as ovarian cysts can aggravate hydronephrosis, which in turn elevated creatinine levels.
Avatar n tn Interestingly I also have liver cysts - called simple cysts. There may be no connection of course. But I have read somewhere that ovarian cysts can be connected to PPIs. I also have gastro polyps as a result of long term use of PPIs. To avoid the polyps you might want to consider getting off PPIs once you have the acid reflux under control - and then seriously change your diet to make sure you don't get reflux again (less animal fats, sugars, acid food etc.).
Avatar f tn Welcome to the community. Yes, most ovarian cysts are benign in women without a family history. The average woman's lifetime risk is less than 2%. Ovarian cysts can get quite large. I had a 9.5cm ovarian cyst. Unfortunately, I was over-treated...both ovaries, tubes, and my uterus were removed. My surgeon should have done a cystectomy and then sewn me back up when the frozen section came back benign. Instead he proceeded to remove my vital organs.
1431734 tn?1421011671 Ovarian cancer is one of the hardest to diagnose. I had all the symptoms for 4 years. My oncologist says on average it takes two years and several specialists before it is found. The oncologist works with it every day. Because less than 2% of women get it the Gynecologist has little experience with it. The only real time it is easy to palpate is when a woman is asleep for surgery. Pap smears and endometrial biopsies do not find ovarian cancer.
Avatar f tn When the follicles are forming small cysts may be present in the normal ovary. These ovarian cysts which start during the normal function of menstrual cycle are called functional cysts which are of two types follicular cyst and corpus luteal cyst. Most of these cysts are harmless and disappear over a period of time. They are usually asymptomatic. In few patients cysts may cause menstrual irregularities, pelvic pain. In such cases medical help should be sought.

Avatar f tn Persistent simple ovarian cysts larger than 5 - 10 cm, especially if symptomatic, and complex ovarian cysts should be considered for surgical removal.
Avatar n tn I have larger cysts about the size of a large grapefruit apparently. I have recently had a vaginal ultrasound and only one cross hatch on the cyst so they don't think it is cancerous. I have, however, recently been having very bad back pain and weight gain. My doctor said that the cysts are not the cause of this but these posts indicate that the cysts may cause these symptoms. Should I get the cysts out and if so, the ovaries too? I am 49 and can't have kids.
Avatar n tn How large is the ovarian cyst? Ovarian cysts that are 5cm or greater, and are complex (like yours with a solid element) are usually treated with surgery. They have a greater chance of being malignant than smaller, simple cysts. Sometimes, doctors watch and wait smaller cysts and sometimes they choose to operate. Still, most cysts (even larger and complex ones) turn out to be benign.
