Avatar n tn If the pain and chills continue, or if she develops a fever she needs to be evaluated by a gynecologist for ultrasound. Ovarian cysts are usually benign growths and are not as uncommon as some people think. The only thing that causes ovarian cysts to become an emergency if they are large, if it is causing the ovary to twist, or if an infection develops. However, I believe that the cause of your wife's discomfort if from a rupturing ovarian cyst. I hope she gets to feeling better soon.
Avatar f tn Mostly they are symptomless But Ovarian cysts can, however, cause problems if they twist, bleed, or rupture. Most ovarian cysts will go away on their own. One of the most effective treatments for ovarian cysts is use of contraceptive pills or progesterone pills. It can also be treated surgically and this procedure is known as drilling. Other modes of treatment are laparoscopic surgery, laparotomy or surgery for complicated ovarian cysts.
Avatar m tn As the other poster said, larger ovarian cysts can cause urinary urgency. So can large uterine fibroids. Most cysts go away on their own within 2 or 3 cycles so I would not worry much unless your symptoms worsen especially if you start having pain which could be a sign of the cyst rupturing, leaking, or twisting the ovary. Since most cysts resolve on there own, there should not be any impact on fertility.
Avatar f tn ovarian cycts are actually fairly common, if the doctor is not concerned you dont need to be either
Avatar f tn Majority of women do experience ovarian cysts and they generally do go away on their own without any damage. Caution that if it is on the larger size then it could rupture or twist in which you will experience extreme pain. If this happens it is an emergent situation and you need to go to the ER. Many women find that they need to get second and third opinions in order to get answers they need from someone they trust.
Avatar f tn Did your doctor not follow up on this ultrasound? The odds are good you don't have it but you should have another transvaginal ultrasound to know your current status. The symptoms of ovarian cancer and cysts are very similar. In many cases they can't be sure until a cyst is removed and biopsied. Please don't ignore this.
Avatar n tn In fact, doctors will tell you to go to the ER if you develop a fever and have cysts. Better safe than sorry. If a cyst ruptures, it does cause even more pain, but it subsides within a few days. All your daughter can do is continue to see her doctor and monitor the cysts. If she's ever concerned because she gets a fever or unbearable pain, she should go to the ER and get checked. Especially if she has a complex cyst. I'm sorry your daughter is going through this.
Avatar n tn Hi Marisa, You've had a tough time and I'm sorry. 95% of all ovarian cysts are benign. Complex cysts raise a little bit more of a red flag but can still be benign. Somewhere on this page ( I think Sharon just posted it again) is a wonderful pamphlet that will explain in great detail about cysts. Hopefully, it will help you understand your situation. If you trust your doctor, I would follow his or her advice about surgery.
Avatar m tn t know specifically about an ovarian cyst making a behavior change but when a little munchkin has a fever, ear infection, a tooth breaking through, diabetes -one huge indicator is behavior. They get tired and crabby and all around emotional. So it's not a huge step to think that some of it could be from pain/stress of the cyst. Also sometimes you don't feel the full weight of the stress, but still feel stressed.
1503875 tn?1290902087 Last monday I went to the emergency room for severe abdominal pain which the ER dr said was burst ovarian cysts. Since that time I have lower back pain (lower back pain for over 6 months intermittently), intermittent stabbing pains in my lower abdomen, thigh pains, bloating, indigestion, gas, frequent urination, feelings of pain in my ovaries every time I need to pee, uncomfortable fullness every time I try to eat, I feel so stuffed with any little meal and transient nausea.
Avatar f tn It's hard to believe that cysts can cause that much pain and discomfort, huh? Well, unfortunately for us, they can. At least you already know that they're just regular fluid filled cysts and still rather small. You need to talk to your doctor to see what medication is right to help shrink them. He/she is going to have to monitor them and schedule for an ultrasound every so often to see if they are in fact shrinking or growing.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with right ovarian cyst back in 2012 (17 years old). I went to the hospital and the doctor advised me to undergo operation, but then I insisted to undergo operation since I've to take some important exam on that year. In 2012, hospital seems to be my second home. Things getting worst at the end of 2012, I had high fever (39.9°C) and I still remember during that time I'm period day 1 or day 2. Then I started to follow up like once for two weeks.
720174 tn?1230507108 I think when in doubt check it out....!!!!! I went to er multiple times with ovarian cysts they finally figured out my extreme pain was because one ovary had attached itself to my bowels with scar tissue.....that required the surgical removal of that ovarie and I oppted to have the other out as well to avoid cancer,,good luck...honestly I think you should go they will give you a reg plus trans vag utrasound...Good Luck !!
Avatar n tn Could be, since ovarian cysts have been found, you may have a tendency to get cysts in general, and any of them can get pretty large, so perhaps you've got one that is blocking up your digestive tract. The black stools can indicate bleeding, so could be things have gotten a little out of hand in your abdomen. I don't know when your surgery is scheduled, but with you having a fever and possibly blood in your colon, it's a good thing you're seeing your doc Monday...
Avatar f tn What is the symptoms of ovarian cysts? i'm having a scan next week on my ovary's because the doctor wants to test for them.
Avatar n tn Hi there. I have had ovarian cysts for several years without any symptoms, and they were found by pure luck when doing an abdominal MRI since I have suffered from UTIs for many years. My doctor told me just to wait and see how they were and if it was necessary they would remove them. In January they found out that they had grown more and that there was like a wall that could indicate that they were not benign.
Avatar f tn You could have IBS, SIBO or ovarian cysts among other things. Please have it checked out.
Avatar f tn Welcome to the community. Ovarian cysts can be painful and alter hormones causing other problems. Although it is usually best to wait it out since most cysts resolve in 2 to 3 cycles, that can be hard. Did you get any information about the type and size of the cyst? You can always ask for a copy of the ultrasound report which will give you all the details. Hoping your next u/s shows that the cyst has shrunk or disappeared! Keep us posted.
Avatar f tn t had any bloating, bleeding or irregular periods, and I have had cysts for several years. I am supposed to get operated, but I have had some periods of fever (between 0.5 and 1.0 degree increase) related to throat or urinary infections which have made it impossible to have surgery. They had done the CA - 125 marker several times to see if there was any change, but it stayed around the nineties. The last test was done several days ago, but the value was 37.

256161 tn?1196879046 I know lyme causes all kinds of different cysts. I'm not sure about the ovarian cysts though as they are quite common in women in general. Flagyl is a cyst buster so if you have lyme you may feel the herx reaction.
Avatar n tn Ovarian cancer is a relatively rare disease, but, being a breast cancer survivor can increase your odds, however slightly. I will say that I am totally shocked that the connection between breast and ovarian cancer has not been discussed with you by your oncologist and/or breast surgeon. There are so many variables to consider, are you pre-menopausal, where you are in your cycle, the type of cysts......
Avatar f tn s very important to understand that all the ovarian cancer symptoms Jan mentions above also apply to benign ovarian cysts. A biopsy is required to confirm diagnosis. I wish your loved one the best through her journey.
1291547 tn?1272158606 I had been vomiting and having a high fever during my periods. The ER said I had a ovarian cyst and that it was 3 centimeters wide and 3 centimeters in length. The ER Gave me naproxen to take and it helped with the pain, but when i started my period wednesday I started throwing up and having horrible pains in the left side of my body not in the right. I went to the ER again and they gave me a shot and said I could go home. I'm still having pain and I think I have Ovarian Cancer.
