Avatar f tn In most cases, ovarian cysts are benign, but larger cysts, complex cysts or ones that are causing pain may need to be removed. Often, they can do a minimally invasive laparoscopic procedure with a shorter recovery time and very small incisions. Good luck at your appointment next week! I know that waiting can be hard. I'll keep you my thoughts!
6589573 tn?1382725642 I am 38 years old with a history of ovarian cysts & endometriosis. I haven't had a period in four months now. I have never had irregular periods before even with the endo. Had 2 surgeries to remove adhesions and 1 to remove a softball sized hemmoragic cyst. Doctor says I am not in perimenopause either. I have pain at my left ovary, clear discharge, and blood clots have come out during a bowel movement. Aside from feeling bloated and basically horrible the pain is becoming worse.
Avatar m tn More than 98%t of ovarian cysts are none cancer. Ovarian cysts in women are very common. Most resolve themselves with out surgery. If you can take something like Ibuprofen that can help with inflammation.
Avatar n tn Since then, I have had irregular bleeding that stopped around March (I was nursing at that time). I skipped my period in March, but had very bad cramps during ovulation and at the beginning of my next period. I again skipped a period in May but resumed menstruation in June and July, with pain/bloating during ovulation and at menses. OB ordered a trans vag ultrasound that came back negative. About a month ago, I had a CT scan of my entire pelvis and a cysts plural (spelling?
Avatar n tn If you are 40-50, then perimenopause is a possible cause. But, ovarian cysts at any age can change your hormones and cause these types of symptoms. Unfortunately, no two ovarian cysts show themselves in the same way. So, it is hard to say without having tests to rule out all other causes. In general the list of symptoms you describe sound like they could be related to menopause. But, if you are under 45, then that is less likely.
Avatar f tn I feel your pain! I have ovarian cysts and have had one rupture. It was extremely painful. I have been having regular hot flashes, tender breasts, painful sex, and no period for four months. (and I have always been very regular, unless I'm nursing.) The hot flashes started a week after my last period so, I'm pretty sure I'm beginning the change and I'm only 28. It can happen. The doctors often don't know for sure either, but at least they can tell you if it is something else.
Avatar f tn Ovarian cysts are very common and affect mainly women in their 30s and 40s. Women who are past menopause (ages 50-70) and have ovarian cysts have a higher risk of having ovarian cancer. The only way to diagnose ovarian cancer is looking at the cells under a microscope. There are tumour markers the doctors can test for called CA-125 and CA19-9 (both are blood tests) however numbers can be higher due to inflammation.
Avatar f tn Persistent simple ovarian cysts larger than 5 - 10 cm, especially if symptomatic, and complex ovarian cysts should be considered for surgical removal.

Avatar n tn m a 47-year old female, who just had a transvaginal ultrasound to work up possible ovarian cysts after a syncopal episode that lined up with my cycle. Also, my mother had aggressive clear cell ovarian cancer, so good to have a baseline. My last ultrasound was from May 11, four days ago. Results were "Nothing to worry about." But this morning, post-bowel movement I started spotting. It's progressed to moderate flow with clots throughout the day.
Avatar m tn I would have a period for a couple of months, then not for a month, then for 3 weeks at a time, then not for 2 months, then finally last month (May) I started for one week very light and went for 3 weeks very heavy, and one week light. I have always had problems with cysts on my right ovary and have always had pain on that side during ovulation. Well, I had a pelvic ultrasound and they told me I had septated cystic mass on my right , 6.4 cm. Of course, I freaked out!
Avatar f tn My first thought with your age is ovarian cysts but I'm no doctor. Your hormones could be out of wack idk. Causitive factors could be numerous so my suggestion would be to go to your gyno and get things sorted out. Oh and try to stay away from self diagnosis via the internet bc that will just stress you out even more.
Avatar n tn I'm sorry to hear about your issues. It is not uncommon for some women to have more heavy and irregular bleeding during the transition that is closer to perimenopause. A 'functional' cyst is a 'normal' cyst of the ovary that means the ovary is actually doing its 'job' and ovulating every month.
Avatar n tn Typically, it can be chalked up to sporadic ovarian activity or something benign (non-cancerous) like fibroids or benign ovarian cysts (which typically cause hormonal changes). I have connected with many women who have had post-meno bleeding that did not need any treatment. Unfortunately, too many women end up with hysterectomies that are unnecessary and leave them in worse health than before. Even ACOG says way too many hysterectomies are being done with 76% not meeting their criteria.
Avatar f tn I have been having abdomen pain lower and upper and pain in my pelvic area. I also have pain on my sides and my upper and lower back. I have also been having chest pain. My throat has also been sore and the worse thing is I have been dizzy (like a drunk feeling) constantly the whole time. This has been going on for about 2 months. Mostly everything started together but the sore throat started about 2 weeks later.
Avatar f tn But you can have an ultrasound done if you have not already done so, to rule out ovarian cysts. Virilising tumours of the ovary can have a similar presentation. But first of all you should learn to face the problem and relax a bit. To tackle your insomnia, meditation, counselling and medicines if necessary may be required. Consult an endocrinologist for an evaluation. Hope this helps. Take care and good luck.
Avatar f tn I am 50 and still having regular periods. Recently I had an episode of heavy bleeding so bad the gyno sent me for d and c that day. All went well, bleeding stopped and pathology came back negative. One week after d and c had another transvaginal ultrasound and it showed "up to 16mm thickening". Is this normal one week after d and c? Also showed various ovarian cysts including complex cyst thought to be hemorrhagic.
1478129 tn?1446975332 It may be. The last couple years of my perimenopause were quite messy. The periods were erratic and when they did come, they were heavy and rather gross. I couldn't plan to go anywhere just in case. . . . . I was so thankful when they finally stopped. A few years after menopause I developed a large ovarian cyst and had to have it removed. They also discovered I had some fibroids.
Avatar f tn I would think your chances are very slim that you have a malignancy. But, you are correct in that dermoids can be malignant. They say 1-3% have a malignant transformation. It is certainly not the norm though. It sounds like you have a hormonal imbalance due to the changes in your cycle. Other types of cysts can form when hormones are out of sync. I don't know your age, but could you be in perimenopause? It can cause cycle changes.
Avatar m tn Hello, my name is Keri. Once in a while, it seems during ovulation, or a week before my period I start to feel nausea. This has decreased some, since I have been trying to do gluten free and dairy free. I had blood tests run for numerous things, and the Gyn also ran some tests to see if possible Ovarian cancer. All the tests came back fine. They think that it may be perimenopausal? does this sound possible. I am 39.
Avatar n tn I am 46. he determined that i was not perimenopause by my estrogen. I am seeing pcp. I had an ultrasound, actually 2 in the past year. He felt the uterus when he did my pap test/exam. I have no idea what type of cysts they are. He did the exam and kinda rushed out of the room.. when i asked what he was looking for he said abnormal cells.
Avatar f tn Hello, Dermoid cysts are growths that can develop in a woman during her reproductive years. Mostly they are symptomless But Ovarian cysts can, however, cause problems if they twist, bleed, or rupture. Since there was no change after repeated ultrasounds, there is nothing much to worry. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar n tn I suffer from ovarian cysts. I have talked to several gynos an all of them jave told me that if you suffer from ovarian cysts that they can actually burst and most of the time you wont even know they burst because they burst during your period. I dont have it every month but i do have it every couple months. They isnt much they can do except treat the pain if your have cysts unless they are very big. These can be found by getting a simple an quick ultrasound.
Avatar f tn During perimenopaus for a pretty healthy slightly overweight (28 BMI) woman who exercises daily is there any reason that during my cycles about a week prior to when I start my period that I have very strong or hard heartbeats and palpitations along with elevated anxiety? I have relatively no risk for heart disease, no family history and no high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes or anything else that might raise my risk. I'm just wondering if I should be concerned.
Avatar f tn When the follicles are forming small cysts may be present in the normal ovary. These ovarian cysts which start during the normal function of menstrual cycle are called functional cysts which are of two types follicular cyst and corpus luteal cyst. Most of these cysts are harmless and disappear over a period of time. They are usually asymptomatic. In few patients cysts may cause menstrual irregularities, pelvic pain. In such cases medical help should be sought.
