Avatar f tn I started having abdominal pain after a recent fall. I actually thought I had jarred mybladder loose. Anyway the doc ordered an ultrasound. As soon as it was done the tech said we are going to show this to the radiologist and be right back. After sometime she came back and said we found no damage around your bladder but you do have a cyst on your ovary that is almost twice the size of your ovary. She said the radiologist would be calling my doctor this am with this information.
Avatar n tn Many cysts do resolve themselves but the fact that you are having pain may mean they have not. Please have your doctor run another transvaginal ultrasound to check. Good luck with everything.
Avatar n tn What awaits me if I get the cysts and ovaries out. Will menopause be any worse than the lower back pain with the cysts? Thanks for any help.
Avatar n tn Are you menopausal now or going through peri-menopause? If you're still having some cycles, then your cysts are probably normal. The cyst size is about the norm for monthly functional cysts. Hot flashes, emotional upheavals, erratic periods and insomnia are some of the usual symptoms of peri-menopause. Your doctor can monitor the cysts, make sure they don't get too large or cause problems.
Avatar f tn Ovarian cysts are very common and affect mainly women in their 30s and 40s. Women who are past menopause (ages 50-70) and have ovarian cysts have a higher risk of having ovarian cancer. The only way to diagnose ovarian cancer is looking at the cells under a microscope. There are tumour markers the doctors can test for called CA-125 and CA19-9 (both are blood tests) however numbers can be higher due to inflammation.
Avatar f tn Hello I am 54 and just had an ultrasound that has discovered 3 cysts 2 on my ovaries and 1 they are not sure what it is attached to so I am being sent for more tests, I am really scared because I keep reading that if you have cysts past the menopause then they are more than likely to be cancerous, is this true? Is there any other post menopausal women who have cysts? I have slight abdominal bloating bit of lower back pain, NO bleeding slight abdominal pain but other than that feel fine??
Avatar f tn Hi jojo, Why not come visit us on the Ovarian Cyst Forum. This forum is primarily for Ovarian Cancer and there probably will be more folks replying to you on the "cyst" forum. You could also check out the Hysterectomy Forum. I had my ovary removed when I had the cyst removed but I'm also post menopausal so it really isn't the same as it is for you.. Pop on over to the Ovarian Cyst forum and post this over there..
Avatar n tn MRI following an ultrasound is not routine, no. Checking back 3 years is not routine, either. I don't understand the logic of that at all. The only time I've heard of doctors checking previous films was to check previous mammograms, not previous ovarian ultrasounds (at least not 3 years back). It's not just the sizes of cysts that matter, what about the nature of these cysts?
Avatar n tn Benign cysts can form on menopausal women....and it is my understanding that someone is not in "menopause" until they have gone 12 months without having a period. Most cysts, well over 90 percent are benign. Not sure what blood test the doctor is taking. Best of luck and let us know how it goes!!!!
Avatar f tn My gyn says that no period for ONE YEAR = menopause. You are very close to that milestone. Fibroids are supposed to lessen after menopause but you may not be at that advantage point yet. Ovarian cysts are a possibility...they can still occur after menopause although it doesn't make any sense since ovulation is supposed to be over. Maybe something goes terribly wrong with the final ovulation cycle. I don't think even the doctors understand why it happens, only that it does.
Avatar f tn So I have looked up symptoms of ovarian cysts and one that caught my eye was weight gain. Has anyone ever gained weight because of cysts? I can not seem to lose any weight. I wonder if the cysts are causing this?
Avatar n tn I would not be concerned, but, I would go to the gyn and have it checked....probably nothing. There is a great forum for Ovarian Cysts. There are many fabulous women over there that can probably offer more guidence and support regarding cysts. This forum is mainly about Ovarian Cancer.
Avatar m tn re near menopause, the remaining ovary would continue to function until you reach menopause if you chose surgery. A laparascopic surgery to remove the cyst and ovary would be the only way to know for sure if the cyst is benign however. Most cysts are benign but size is not the determining factor. I just had a 10 cm cyst removed (laparascopically I might add) 2 weeks ago. She removed the ovary and tube. I was so happy to find out it was benign but also happy to have it out of there.
Avatar n tn Some of the causes of irregular periods are ovarian cysts, stress, anemia, and hormonal disorders like thyroid and adrenal malfunction. Please consult your OBGYN as soon as possible as exact cause can be identified only after a clinical examination and tests like ultrasound and blood test. Take care!
Avatar f tn had , had tons of female troubles and thought take em then I will not have to worry about cysts or ovarian cancer,,,,which must be found very very early to be hopefull for a full recovery.
Avatar n tn does having hemorragic cysts in menopause increase your chances of having ovarian cancer? They seem to stay on for about 8 months then burst.
Avatar f tn t say it looks like I had been ovulating! I think cysts are more common before menopause but after happens. Still usually harmless. Two types are common after menopause: 1. dermoids, which develop from cells you’ve had since birth and 2. cystadenomas, which grow on the surface of the ovary. So, you had the ovaries removed already after the finding of increased cysts? What did the tumor marker show?
Avatar f tn I have had issues so often with repeated ovarian cysts ever since 2011 when I had a hysterectomy. This past Friday was the third time I was in the ER since November 2017 because of the excrusiting pain from it. And because of my age of being 43 and not yet having gone through menopause they really want to conserve my ovaries not even by just taking one out and leaving one in they want to conserve both of them.
Avatar f tn I was curious to know if they is a certain age range for complex ovarian cysts occur or usually occurs?
233622 tn?1279334905 Now that I have entered menopause, I no longer have problems with ovarian cysts. In return, I am now getting alot of facial hair and a deeper voice. My it's grand getting old....NOT! AND I am now to the point where I am definitely "pausing from men." (men o pause?) I would rather have a sandwich. When they did my last ovarian ultrasound, (several years ago) the tech said I had about 12 follicles left, from what she could see.
Avatar f tn After multiple tests (ultrasound, ct scan and MRI) I was told I have complex ovarian cysts 5×4 cm on both ovaries and pancreatic cyst that is over 1cm . I have 2 questions. 1. Since I very much refuse and will be refusing contraceptives , how else naturally can I cure ovarian cysts? 2. Can acidic taste in my mouth with coating on my tongue and lower back pain be due to pancreatic cyst?
675329 tn?1297288378 If it continues growing and surgery is needed, why is the other ovary being removed? Most ovarian cysts, even complex ones after menopause, are benign. A frozen section can be done during surgery to check for malignancy. Removal of ovaries as late as age 75 is associated with earlier mortality since ovaries produce health-promoting hormones a woman's whole life. As far as the adhesions - Did you have a hysterectomy? Keep us posted.
Avatar m tn Breast cysts are usually easily defined by mammogram or ultrasound. Ovarian cysts are not related to breast cysts or to cysts in any other part of the body. Regards ....
Avatar f tn Hello, This mass can be a cyst , benign or malignant mass. Ovarian cysts in post-menopausal women are common but any cysts in a postmenopausal woman should be taken seriously and ovarian cancer should be ruled out by means of CA125 which you have already got done. Ovarian cysts are considered for removal if they cause pain or have tendency to become malignant or there is elevated CA125. Given your history of abdominal swelling, ovarian malignancy can be a possibility.
