Avatar n tn Ovarian cysts can cause bladder and bowel problems. In my case it was due to the size of the ovarian cyst and the pressure it was placing on other organs. In my daughter's case, the abdominal pain with the ovarian cyst was severe and caused nausea. By the time we discovered that an ovarian cyst was causing the pain, she had become constipated, which added to her irregularity and discomfort. Like MarieMichele, before my ovarian cyst was removed, I had to eat very small amounts.
256161 tn?1196879046 I know lyme causes all kinds of different cysts. I'm not sure about the ovarian cysts though as they are quite common in women in general. Flagyl is a cyst buster so if you have lyme you may feel the herx reaction.
Avatar f tn When that happens to me, I fix it with two weeks of probiotic yogurt. Or you might have other issues like lactose intolerance or some other food intolerance that causes gas. Vaginal cysts are benign and often don't need attention unless they cause you discomfort. Then they can be surgically removed. If you ever needed a cyst removed surgically, you could then ask to have the vaginal one removed, too, and get everything resolved at the same time.
Avatar n tn Polycystis Ovarian Syndrome was named for the appearance of the ovaries (which often are bumpy looking with lots of cysts on them), but it is certainly not the only symptom. It is important to understand that just because a woman have ovarian cysts doesn't mean she has PCOS. Blood work can help to diagnose PCOS. The cysts that appear with PCOS are a result of egg follicles not fully maturing or being released.
Avatar n tn Interestingly I also have liver cysts - called simple cysts. There may be no connection of course. But I have read somewhere that ovarian cysts can be connected to PPIs. I also have gastro polyps as a result of long term use of PPIs. To avoid the polyps you might want to consider getting off PPIs once you have the acid reflux under control - and then seriously change your diet to make sure you don't get reflux again (less animal fats, sugars, acid food etc.).
Avatar f tn Hello, In infertility, there are host of other causes like age, taking up alcohol or certain drugs that causes infertility, food, coffee, and many causes beyond these. Infertility starts to kick in slowly from age 30 and more rapidly from age 35 onwards in women. Moreover, medical causes may be due to problems in ovulation, tubes, uterus, cervix, endometriosis, pituitary, hypothalamus or secondary male infertility. Also, the quality of egg and sperms decrease with advancing age .
Avatar f tn I'm 17 years old and have been sick since I was 13. I just started getting medical attention three years ago for what I know now as large masses on my ovaries. I would throw up at the thought or smell of food and wouldn't be able to keep any food down for months. I ended up going from a 164 to a 152 in about two weeks and maintained that weight. The doctors thought it was my appendix but when they tried to check they said my appendix was not inflamed.
Avatar f tn A woman without the BRCA mutation ( a genetic mutation which runs in families and causes ovarian cancer) has a 1.4% of getting ovarian cancer in a life time. The odds are very low it is ovarian cancer. 2. It is rarer still to get ovarian cancer before the age of 40. 3. By the time you have symptoms for ovarian cancer it would probably show up on a CT scan. Women do not have symptoms for ovarian cancer until they have had it awhile. 4.
Avatar f tn Have you been diagnosed with PCOS? This condition causes the acne, weight gain and cysts. It is important to follow up with your doctor to see if you have this condition. It may help you avoid future cysts if you get treatment now. Often, hormones can be out of balance without PCOS and it causes those same symptoms. Usually, birth control pills are recommended to try to get your hormones regulated in cases where your system is out of balance.
Avatar f tn Male factors causing infertility are varicocoele, ejaculatory disorders, radiation exposure and advanced age. Ovarian cysts like polycystic ovarian disease can cause infertility. For more queries and assistance it is advised to consult a gynecologist. You will need evaluation for above mentioned causes. Consult an infertility expert. I sincerely hope it helps. Best wishes and regards!
Avatar f tn It was determined that I had ovarian cysts and put on the pill at that young age. I took the pill for 17 years and then stopped after discovering I had abnormal (cancerous) cells on my cervix, which had to be partially removed. I was not allowed to use hormonal birth control from that point onward. But, the pain returned because I was ovulating again, and it seemed much worse than when I was a teen.
Avatar m tn Erm I just got told hemaroid? I think! They're not doing anything apart from monitoring it but I can't explain the horrendous pain I'm in when I get one if my pains! It needs sorting but I don't know what todo next!
Avatar f tn m not sure which type of imaging (e.g., CT, MRI, ultrasound) is the best for viewing ovarian cysts. Do you have a copy of the report? If so, what does it say about the characteristics of the cysts? The important thing to know is that the ovaries produce hormones a woman's whole life which are critical to good health. Removal of even one ovary has been shown to do more harm than good when done for benign conditions (e.g., cysts or prophylactic).
Avatar n tn If you are 40-50, then perimenopause is a possible cause. But, ovarian cysts at any age can change your hormones and cause these types of symptoms. Unfortunately, no two ovarian cysts show themselves in the same way. So, it is hard to say without having tests to rule out all other causes. In general the list of symptoms you describe sound like they could be related to menopause. But, if you are under 45, then that is less likely.
Avatar n tn Ovarian cysts are usually benign growths and are not as uncommon as some people think. The only thing that causes ovarian cysts to become an emergency if they are large, if it is causing the ovary to twist, or if an infection develops. However, I believe that the cause of your wife's discomfort if from a rupturing ovarian cyst. I hope she gets to feeling better soon.
Avatar f tn I tend to get cysts all the time - ie kidney cysts, ovarian, fibrocystic breasts , cysts on my back. But the mri reported didn't suggest any special follow up to it and I am not sure what to think. I'd love some ideas. My kidneys could be inflamed due to the cysts and stones but don't know if that would affect the pelvic area... Thanks for any ideas.
Avatar f tn ovarian cysts, and possible endometriosis. So get an ultrasound!

Avatar f tn Hi, Sorry, I don't know much about the "Mirena".. What does your Dr. say about the cysts? How were they found? You might check out the top right of this page "Health Pages" . It has a lot of information about Ovarian Cysts. Cysts are very common in younger women, but you must ask the Dr. about the IUD /Mirena. I truly have no idea about that.
Avatar f tn So I have looked up symptoms of ovarian cysts and one that caught my eye was weight gain. Has anyone ever gained weight because of cysts? I can not seem to lose any weight. I wonder if the cysts are causing this?
Avatar n tn I agree with Cindy that it is very unlikely to be Ovarian Cancer. However, young girls do get cysts. Actually cysts are very very common in young premenopausal women and 95 % benign. You may want to check the top right of this page; "Health Pages" . It has a lot of information about cysts . Of course we don't know if she even has cysts. And.. we're not Drs. here.. She really needs to be seen my by a Gyn. It could be one of many things.
