Common Questions and Answers about Ovarian cysts and weight loss

ovarian-cysts

Avatar f tn Unfortunately, I cannot comment on anything but the ovarian cysts. Cysts are very common and most resolve on their own. If yours are not large (over 7 cm or so) and you do not have a predisposition for / family history of ovarian cancer, then they can usually be monitored via periodic ultrasound.
Avatar f tn 7cms No fibroid... Both ovaries are prominent with small 3-4mm cysts.. And right ovary volume 11.1ml and left ovary vol 10.5ml... missed last month period... What you suggest?
Avatar n tn Common things being common, fibroids, which are benign muscle growths of the wall of the uterus, can give you pain and heavy bleeding. Ovarian cysts can be related to ovulation, or benign growths, endometriosis and so on. To sort that out, usually repeat scans are obtained over 3 to 6 months to see dynamically how the cysts come and go. Depending on your age, birth contorl pills are commonly tried to control heavy bleeding and pain.
1046985 tn?1305117048 In the last 6 months since I've had ovarian cysts, I have been putting on weight, with no actual change in my diet. This alone is very depressing, without all the pain and everything else that comes with this condition. My job requires me to be walking all day, around a 2000 metre furniture store, where I can easily rack up 7000 steps on my pedometer.
Avatar f tn First off 98% of all ovarian cysts are benign. Most women with Ovarian Cancer, not all, are genetically predisposed with the BRCA mutation. I have BRCA. I had a grandmother and a aunt with ovarian cancer in their 50's. Ovarian cysts look a certain way on a ultrasound. At your age with no BRCA you have less than 1% of ovarian cancer. What is your doctor telling you? They saw my ultra sound and I was at the oncologist the next day. Many cysts go away on their own. Are you having symptoms.
Avatar f tn I suffed from ovarian cysts since I was 14.. I'm 34 now and have just been diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome.. though I haven't had a cyst that has caused me pain or discomfort in years.. The best thing to help combat and minimize the occurrence and severity of an ovarian cyst I found was exercise!! The release of serotonin somehow helps.. but I've become an avid Zumba goer and not only did it keep the cysts at bay, but it's a lot of fun..
Avatar n tn I have recently started having other symptoms of gas, feeling a lump of food in my chest after I eat and I have loss weight without trying. I have experienced a lot of anxiety, Insomnia and poor eating habits. Is more likely than not that I have exacerbated my situation because of depression and anxiety or does this sound like late stage ovarian cancer. I have been suffering from anxiety attacks and lack of sleep since I got my results of the cyst in November.
Avatar f tn Hi. I need input badly please. I am 40 yrs old and had a laparoscopic hysterectomy done in April 2014. I had a right ovary removal, cervix removal and replaced with a cuff and extra scar tissue removed from my past csections. I still have my left ovary that sometimes produces cysts still. Since my surgery I have put on at least 20 lbs. I am taking hard core kick boxing and eating way better than I was and can't seem to lose anything, I just keep gaining. :( its so depressing.
Avatar f tn What showed was ovarian cysts and a small amount of fluid located in the middle of the pelvis. These were determined to not be a threat. I called my OB/GYN about the results, he looked them over and said they were normal for a woman my age. I am 43. Now, I have a pretty bloated lower abdomen and midback pain on the right side and some occasional nausea as well as weight gain. I have an appointment with a doctor to get a check up in a week. I am kind of freaked out.
Avatar f tn I had a dermoid cyst removed (10x10 cm) and I lost weight, but I had already been losing weight. I was about 10-15 pounds into my weight loss when I had the cyst removed. I lost 20 pounds total, but that's including the weight loss prior to the surgery. Weight loss is a process. It doesn't happen quickly, so it's important to keep your eyes on that end goal. Best of luck in the weight loss goals and I hope the surgery goes well!
Avatar n tn I know that this is a very late response, but hair loss could be due to the fact that you probably aren't eating very well while suffering with all of the indigestion. I know I'm not eating well at all with mine and I'm dropping weight like crazy. I think ovarian cysts do explain the rest of it. The only other thing that I can think of that would cause the hair loss is hypothyroidismn.
1203349 tn?1265754491 Lately I have been having problems, Missed period, left abdominal pain, tender breasts and unexpected weight loss, and constipation. I have an aunt that died from overian cancer and a huge family history of cancer.
Avatar f tn My symptoms were: - occasional pain/pulling sensations in abdomen. - pain in the back at night that shoots down the legs (impossible to sleep until pain killers dulled the pain. - constipation (frequent) alternating with loose bowel movements (less frequent) - lack of energy - hair loss - unable to eat large meals...would double over in lower stomach pain until food digested - weight gan and extra inches around the waist, not caused by food - my cyst was fluid filled.
Avatar f tn 2 years back I was told that I have ovarian cysts (the doctor say me once, and told me to go to a specialist, but w/o insurance I could not afford it) The cysts keep reoccurring (or are not going away), and are getting more and more painful. I I have varying amounts of pain day-to-day, ranging from my pelvis, abdomen, lower back, and then down my thighs (when it's really bad). It hurts to cough, sometimes pee, have sex, and walk (when it's really bad).
18454502 tn?1465007523 But he did do a full body exam and he found a bunch of things some was my right swollen ovary and my stiff neck on the left, he found my heart skipping beats every so often in the ekg, and he wanted to get a pap soon and cuffs on my arms and legs to see how my blood and oxygen flows in case i have clots and stuff since i experince loss of feeling and stiffnes sometimes. He ended up giving me antibiotics for my nasal congestion and nasal spray.
Avatar f tn My symptoms are what is bothersome, spotting between periods, pressure in abdomen and pelvis, short of breath, abdominal discomfort and feeling bloated, nausea and sometimes loss of appetite, hard time losing weight, feel full all over when I wake up and excessive gas. I have read symptoms of ovarian cancer and of course it seems I have pretty much all of them so now I flashback to that unexpected pregnancy result last year thinking was I really pregnant or God forbid it's ovarian cancer!!
Avatar f tn If the ultrasound shows no cysts it would be less likely to be ovarian cancer or cysts. You could ask for an CT Scan and a CA125 blood test. Most women have a 1.4% of Ovarian cancer in her life time. If you have the BRCA mutation which is the cancer gene it is 20%. With ovarian cancer with the "baby bump" usually comes weight loss and sometimes vomiting. My ultra sound showed cancer it was clear. I looked pregnant but I had lost a lot of weight and threw up all the time.
Avatar m tn Thanks for the information...very interesting. Those additional symptoms are what I am having and it is frustrating because I am overweight the Dr sees the scale when I go for my checkups and expresses the need for me to lose weight. However, I don't seem to lose weight. I even had weight loss surgery, Lapband, and haven't lost weight. My Dr has done all kinds of tests, metabolic, diabeties, blood work...and everything comes back normal.
Avatar f tn Because, she says if there is nothing really horrible wrong, (I am experiencing OVcancer symptoms EVERY one of them, for the past 4 mos. and a 24 pound weight loss without dieting! I'm 37 and a sz 0 now. I can barely eat, urinating every (about) 20 mnts w/a tugging feeling in my pelvic area-no burning, gas, bloating, intra vaginal pain, abdominal and pelvic pain, fatigue, nausea, get full fast and history family of cancer breast and I do believe almost positive ovc).
Avatar m tn Hi, Such symptoms are common with ovarian cysts. If wait and watch policy does not work out then medicines can be taken for resolution of the cysts. Hence do not lose hope and all the best. Hope this helps.
6745164 tn?1391806591 Hello, There are several reasons why a woman have delayed menstruation and this could be due to unhealthy diet, stress (emotional or physical), sudden weight gain or loss, caffeine, alcohol, and smoking. Gynecological conditions like polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), and uterine cysts or polyps, can also bring about alteration in menstrual cycle. However, pregnancy is still the most common cause of delayed or missed period.
Avatar f tn Turns out I have ovarian cysts, 3 or 4 - the largest being 4.9cm and an enlarged ovary. However, she says my weight is nothing to do with the cysts and that I should go on a diet and do plenty of exercise - if its normal weight it will come off, if its not, it won't! Urghhhhh! What do I have to do to get her to realise that this weight gain is NOT normal for me regardless of the fact that I've just hit 41! Any suggestions anyone?
Avatar f tn ve suffered from painful ovarian cysts, had several miscarriages, male hair growth on the face and chest, hair loss, depression, mood swings, high cholesterol, chronic anxiety, and high blood pressure. I have been told by an Enternal Medical Specialist that my only hope of losing weight is Gastric Bypass, which my insurance won't cover because I do not have diabetes. I don' t know what to do anymore. This weight is destroying me mentally, physically, and emotionally.
Avatar f tn Thankyou, I did not realise my ideal body weight was 120 lbs, so i will take necessary action to lower my weight, and see if my pain dissappears.
Avatar n tn And i know one of the symptoms of ovarian cancer is unexplained weight loss. Has anybody out there had this and it turned out to be nothing! Please let me know, im so scared!
