Ovarian cysts and urinary urgency

Common Questions and Answers about Ovarian cysts and urinary urgency

Avatar m tn As the other poster said, larger ovarian cysts can cause urinary urgency. So can large uterine fibroids. Most cysts go away on their own within 2 or 3 cycles so I would not worry much unless your symptoms worsen especially if you start having pain which could be a sign of the cyst rupturing, leaking, or twisting the ovary. Since most cysts resolve on there own, there should not be any impact on fertility.
Avatar f tn It's possible you have an ovarian cyst. They can cause bloating, urinary urgency, changes in bowel habits, even affect your appetite. The ultrasound is a good idea. If you find you do have a cyst or cysts, there is now a forum called "ovarian cysts" on this site. The women there, myself included, have been through all of this including various surgeries so we/they can help you. Hope you get a good report.
Avatar m tn Hi, The possibility of a urinary infection needs to be ruled out as you are having urgency of urination. Ovarian cysts many times do not have any symptoms and may be incidental findings on ultrasound. Hence it would be best to wait for the scan report before reaching any conclusions. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn stomach pain back pain, blood in the stool, bladder urgency and acid reflux..Can a 3.5 cm cyst do all this..I am at the end of my rope..working FT and in school FT while being in agony.
Avatar n tn Hi there, i have been reading - which is not always a good thing for me, and i am reading about ovarian cancer and that urgency/frequency can be a symptom!! did you discuss this with your gyn?? i am going to call my gyn today.. to see what she wants me to do.. i would like to see her first.... i am really scared of the info on ovarian cancer!
Avatar f tn When I was diagnosed, I had pelvic pain and urinary urgency and frequency. I also had been feeling quite fatigued. My periods and ovulations had become painful as had intercourse at times. I was surprised to have such terrible period cramps because I had had very few cramps since having my children. So, these symptoms were new and different for me. I also had back pain. The vague pelvic pain caused me to constantly need heat packs and ibuprofen.
Avatar m tn At such a young age it can be dermoid cyst which is a type of complex ovarian cyst and is the most common type and develops during the childbearing age. Complex ovarian cysts are generally benign. The risk of malignancy is generally higher among postmenopausal women. You should get a repeat ultrasound and CT scan done. A CA125 blood test should also be performed.
Avatar n tn Ovarian cysts can also cause an excess of gas. If adjusting your diet as above does not help you might want to check that out. Other symptoms might include bloating, abdominal pain, sciatica like pain, breast pain, back pain, weight gain, urinary urgency or period timing issues.
480331 tn?1310403529 Hi there. I have had that type of pain many, many times. I think it is part of being female. But, many times it does indicate an ovarian cyst. Most cysts are benign and go away on their own over time. So, try not to worry. Finding conditions early is the key to a cure in most medical conditions including many cancers. It would be a good idea to ask your doctor for a transvaginal ultrasound to rule out a cyst. The achiness and uneven feeling is very indicative of a cyst.
329994 tn?1301663248 bloating, constipation, fatigue, feeling of fullness, urinary urgency (but no UTI) and I have had a TVUS. The ultrasound showed cysts on both ovaries, a mass on my uterus and "things" floating around that they think might be ademyosis. I have friends and family all telling me that I am just in menopause and that's all. My gyn put my on progesterone for 2 months (a 10 day regimen each month) but I did not bleed nor did I start a period naturally.
Avatar n tn I was lucky that my gynecologist wanted to do surgery right away after he found two cysts on my right ovary and my Ca-125 was elevated at 36 and I lost my mom to ovarian cancer when she was 62. It turned out to be a borderline endometrioid tumor. I have come to know so many horror stories about women whose doctors did not take them seriously or didn't investigate an elevated reading etc. I was very lucky.
Avatar n tn What you are describing can be symptoms for many things. These can include ovarian cysts and ovarian cancer. Since it is pretty rare for women your age to have ovarian cancer and since more than 95% of all cysts are benign let's asssume you are dealing with a cyst. I had all the symptoms you are describing and had benign cysts. You should check out the health pages (top right) and look at the listing for types of cysts and symptoms.
Avatar f tn I also brought up the urinary urgency and the PA told me that I had a bladder infection. But I am still having the problem despite taking the meds I was prescribed for the bladder infection. I plan on calling my doc, but he is on vacation until Tuesday and I feel like the PA doesn't really listen to me. I feel kinda silly thinking that this might be ovarian cancer because I am only 25, but I have no family history cuz I am adopted so you never know.
Avatar f tn But, the smaller one on the right is common with normal menstruation and will likely resolve on its own. Ovarian cysts are very common and most of them are benign and do not require surgery. If you get increased pain, urinary urgency or other symptoms, be sure to let your doctor know because cysts can change over time. I'm sure your doctor will go over all of the results with you and will determine if follow-up is needed.
Avatar f tn I think you should go in to your gyn and don't wait. It isn't likely that it is cancer. But, you could have cysts, a hormone imbalance or some other issue that can be resolved. A transvaginal ultrasound will be able to detect any masses on the ovaries. Ask your dr. for one. Most of the symptoms, unfortunately, are common with many issues. It is never good to overlook them because early detection is the key. I was dx at age 37 with stage 1a ovarian cancer.
Avatar n tn My urine also has kind of a funky smell, this is NOT after sex. I had gone to my doctor for a urinary tract infection and I tested negative. I need help figuring out whats going on.
Avatar n tn There are a lot of symptoms you get from cysts, pain (local and referred from pressing on other organs), gastro (diarrhea, constipation and gas), urinary urgency, back pain, weight gain and bloating (I gained 15 lbs.), etc.
Avatar f tn ve had multiple health issues, probably the largest being juvenile rheumatoid arthritis which started at the age of 10 and has caused me to have total replacements for 3 joints (both hips and 1 shoulder). My rather large ovarian cyst was discovered in 2005 while undergoing testing for gallbladder problems (the gallbladder was removed that year due to stones). Since then, I've been followed for the cyst at different intervals, 3 months, 6 months, and then 1 year with ultrasound exams.
Avatar f tn Hi there, After menopause, it is common to see small benign ovarian cysts. They are not related to ovulation and menstrual cycle as you are past that stage in your life. Some cysts may be related to a malignancy. The decision to remove the cyst and or ovary will depend on the particular person , the size of the cyst, whether it is changing, family history, symptoms, and so on. It is perfectly reasonable to remove this cyst at your age.
Avatar n tn In the last year the urinary problem was more evident frequency and latterly acute retention pain in the tail bone and rectum also . My scan revealed a large Ovarian Mass I subsequently had a TAH, BSO, removal of cervix and Omentum. My Pathology report was not favourable I am so grateful to my Gynacologist/Oncologist for their support and guidance. Good luck with your Surgery.
Avatar n tn I have almost the same problem..I figured it was anxiety base. I will be fine and not have to pee and I would get really anxious and sometimes I won't be able to hold it and will pee my pants if I don't get to a toilet fast enough. It's been happening for awhile now. And I am only 23 years old. The anxiety I've been having isn't extreme.
Avatar n tn however, I also have urinary urgency/frequency and then I noticed something strange. Whenever I have a drink (say, a glass of wine), immediately I get this horrible feeling in my vaginal area and sort of a burning urgency. Very hard to describe but I do get it anytime I drink something alcoholic. I wondered if anyone else has had this and what it could signify? I forgot to mention it to the doctor. Thank you!
Avatar n tn Hi there. It is possible the pain could be due to cysts. I've never heard of a connection to coffee though. Do see your gyn and have a transvaginal ultrasound to be sure. Good luck!
Avatar f tn MANY women lose an ovary or ovaries unnecessarily for ovarian cysts. Surgeons who have good cystectomy skills are almost always able to remove cysts leaving the ovary or a good amount of ovarian tissue intact as explained here http://ovaryresearch.com/ovarian_cysts.htm. The cyst can then be biopsied while you are in the operating room (frozen section) and should typically dictate the course of surgery.
