Till finding out I was living a normal life, with fitness, good apetite - some bloating, gas and heaviness after dinner. I never had nausea, loss of apetite. I put on weight (which I know it is bad sign. I never had spotting between menses or irregular menses. Now I am scared and I am living in hell. I went to Memorial Sloan Kettering in NYC and dr. Carol Brown said I have 20-30% chances to be somethung bad. She told me that before the CA 125 test. I am scheduled for surgery on May 15.
have you ever heard of dairy consumption being related to ovarian cysts, and do you think the recent change in my diet could have caused another one to form?
What is more concerning to me is that for at least the last year I have had a lot of issues with gas, bloating, upset stomach and constant loose stools. Not necessarily diarrhea, but not formed. I also have cramping similar to menstrual cramps most days of the week, with some days being much worse to the point of needing to lay down. I have constant dull pain in my lower left pelvis. My regular doctor said "IBS" the gyno said "I don't know".
The bloating, gas and pain can be caused by the cysts pressing agains other organs in the body - taking up space that does not belong to them. Also the back pain can be caused by the cyst pressing on nerves. This also accounts for the groin and thigh pain that you may experience. Keep in mind that 99% of ovarian cysts are benign. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I have such severe back pain that I just go home from work and have to put a heating pad in hopes it will help and the gas and bloating is out of control. Yesterday, I had the back pain and diaharrea, called the doctor, his nurse had the nerve to tell me that I might have the flu. Like I don't know what the feels like, give me a break and my doctor was in the hospital all day so she recommend I call my family doctor.
I never felt right and then I finally got answers. I had severe Endo and ovarian cysts. Endo can cause most all of your symptoms. I don't have any experience w/hair loss. I hope you feel better, I understand how frustrating it is!
How, exactly, does ovarian cancer cause bloating (intestinal distention) and indigestion? I've read that these can be symptoms, but I'm not sure how ovarian cancer can cause them. Can you explain this for me? Thanks!
What you are describing can be symptoms for many things. These can include ovarian cysts and ovarian cancer. Since it is pretty rare for women your age to have ovarian cancer and since more than 95% of all cysts are benign let's asssume you are dealing with a cyst. I had all the symptoms you are describing and had benign cysts. You should check out the health pages (top right) and look at the listing for types of cysts and symptoms.
after the first couple of days when the nausea was just too much (probably from the epidural) i was up and walking and that really helped with the bloating. my incision was about 10 - 11 inches midline (from my ribcage to below my belly button) so that was the most painful thing i had to deal with but it was bearable even though the baby has been growing and stretching it out all this time.
So starting yesterday on top of the pelvic pain and hip pain The bloating and gas has returned. Beginning to think more and more something has returned. Just 2.5 weeks until I know for sure...
I've seen a lot of good information about Complex Ovarian Cysts, and it has definately helped me so far... you all are so supporting of each other! It's wonderful! Now, as for my question... I had a US done about a month ago, and my results came back as two small complex cysts on my right ovary, measuring about 3 cm in diameter. Just out of curiosity, does having surgery to remove a cyst affect being able to become pregnant later? Could one functioning ovary be sufficient?
The past two weeks I have had a strange brownish/red discharge (like the blood that comes out at the very end of your period) and some blood clots each time I go to the bathroom. I have been reading up on the symptoms of ovarian cancer and ovarian cysts, and although many of my symptoms were related to gallbladder issues, I also have read that ovarian cancer is sometimes mistaken for other digestive problems.
Sorry I don't have any answers, but I'm with you on the recurring cysts. The Gyno and I were convinced that the Mirena IUD was the cause for the recurrent cysts and it was removed during the last laparoscopy in November '11 when the cyst was drained. There was no endometriosis and no PCOS - all went fine for 3 months and the dull/stabbing pain is back since the beginning of the month.
There are definately some cysts that are related to the menstrual cycle. These come and go with ovulation. Cysts that do not go away and are bigger than 4 to 5 cms probably should be evaluated and removed by laparoscopy. Of course it must be concerning to you. There are many reasons for abdominal discomfort or pain. These include size of the cyst pushing on other structures, twisting of the cyst, the cyst leaking some fluid into the abdomen that causes irritation.
I see the doctor tomorrow to see if I have ovarian cysts or fibroids? I have had ovarian cysts in the past. I'm 41 and trying to conceive for the first time.
Hell and Welcome to the Pain Mangement Forum I am so sorry to hear about your painful bloating. Your symptoms could indicate other thing besides Celiac Disease. However because it is familiar condition, (prominent or hereditary in some families) I would highly consider this possibility. Celiac Disease, a malabsorption disease that flares with the consumption of the protein gluten.
my left ovary has 2 cysts and there is free fluid. i'm 46 yrs old and the only family history is my grandmother died of ovarian cancer many years ago.any chance of this not being cancer. what do you suggest. i go see a gyno in a couple of days. also i need to get something done soon, my job is going to mexico and i will be out of insurance in about 2 months. really stressed!!!
I also have periods of constipation and diaheria and lots of gas and burping. Things seem to settle down until the next attack which can last for a couple of days. In the past I had a scope done to check my stomach for acid reflux but that wasn't the problem. It is and continues to be focused below my navel but I can have pains that circle around to my lower back. At times, I also have aching pressure on my rectum perhaps due to the constipation.
It means that you have a cyst on the right side of your uterus and the ovarian cysts are normal...follicular cysts are the most common ovarian cyst and can easily be gone or smaller on your next ultrasound.
If I am sitting up in bed and have gas it is clearly coming from both ends. You know if you have regular gas you would at least have time to walk out of the room, but with this you don't. I want to hide from the world. Please help me and guide me as what to do next. I am totally at a loss.
Even something you've always eaten before, might be triggering the gas/bloating problem. My mother had ovarian cancer so I've always remained vigilant about annual vaginal ultrasounds, CA 125 testing etc. and was concerned when I noticed belly bloating - especially by the end of the day. I am post-menopausal and getting close to the most common age for ovarian cancer to show up (60 - 65) Blood tests for food allergies and eliminating the offending foods from my diet - one was lettuce, even!
I have read alot here about ovarian cysts and am wondering if any of you can tell me if this sounds like a cyst. About three months ago I was having really sharp pains in my lower right side. didnt seem to go away. I went in for my anual pap and exam she The Doctor could feel nothing on the ovaries. So I just waited for some time and the pain went away. I believe it was some time after my next cycle. Anyways I have had no problems until now.
I had a lot of bloating and gas and abdominal pain after taking six weeks of antibiotics for cold problems, went to a natural health store and they gave me a Dietary supplement called Digest-All by MRM and GI-DTX and Ultra Flora Plus DF Capsules by Metagenics. These supplements help me more than what the Dr. gave me.
Hi, Small ovarian cysts cannot cause such a huge swelling that looks like a 4 months pregnancy. Other factors like gas and bloating, pregnancy, ascites or collection of fluid in the abdominal cavity etc can cause distension of abdomen. You should consult a gynaecologist for an examination. Hope this helps.
lots of gas and diahrea and bloating...went to acupuncturist and that helped a lot with the gas problem. The Gyno did an ultrasound and found fluid in my abdomen area...said it was not normal to have fluid there that it could be related to OC. Maybe you should ask for one...
Started having daily pelvic pain, gas, bloating, etc went to GP and was given a ultasound that reveiled cysts on both ovaries one quite large at 5x8cm simple with thick wall. Doctor also suspected Endro. I am 45. Dr gave me pain pills put me on bcp and sent me to gyn, which I saw today. The GYN said she didn't think I had Endo, as I was too old. She also said she didn't think the daily pain I am suffering is from cysts, that cysts don't usually cause much pain.
Around the same time the IBS symptoms started I was also diagnosed with ovarian cysts and possible endometriosis. Now, 10 years later I am still suffering with all the same symptoms. Last week, I went to my GYN due to abnormal bleeding (lasted 16 days). He did a transvaginal ultrasound which showed a small amount of fluid in the endometrium causing it to be distended and a mass in my uterus (dr. said maybe fibroid?
