Avatar n tn Ovarian cysts can cause bladder and bowel problems. In my case it was due to the size of the ovarian cyst and the pressure it was placing on other organs. In my daughter's case, the abdominal pain with the ovarian cyst was severe and caused nausea. By the time we discovered that an ovarian cyst was causing the pain, she had become constipated, which added to her irregularity and discomfort. Like MarieMichele, before my ovarian cyst was removed, I had to eat very small amounts.
Avatar f tn I have had really bad cramping and am wondering if this hard spot is a sign of ovarian my ovarian cysts. Now the lump itself does not hurt to touch.

Avatar f tn I have had lower pain in my left side and around my back for 5 days. It feels like gas but took medicine and did not help. it hurts when i eat and then have to go to bathroom what could this be?
Avatar f tn Hi Everyone, I just wanted to know the experience of others. I had a laparoscopy done yesterday where a large cyst was removed from inside each ovary. The surgeon also found multiple smaller cysts in right ovary. The surgeon informed me that he has sent the cysts for a biopsy and said ' lets hope it is not cancer'. My mother died of ovarian cancer at 42 so naturally they are more concerned.
Avatar f tn The ovarian cyst is small and being "simple" it is harmless. All the same, sometimes even the small ones cause some pain for being there. Maybe it's even putting just the right amount of pressure on other organs to be causing the gas, but maybe not. Simple cysts have the ability to resolve on their own, often in 1 or 2 menstrual cycles.
Avatar f tn I have had ovarian cysts in the past. I also have gi symptoms including alot of gas, and some pain under my breasts, upper rib cage. I don't have any bloating, or increased abdominal size. I recently had a colonoscopy which was normal. The dr is sending me for a cat scan to check for kidney stones and ovarian cysts. I am very worried this could be ovarian cancer. I have afamily history of colon cancer (father). Am i being irrational, or should I be very worried?
Avatar n tn What you are describing can be symptoms for many things. These can include ovarian cysts and ovarian cancer. Since it is pretty rare for women your age to have ovarian cancer and since more than 95% of all cysts are benign let's asssume you are dealing with a cyst. I had all the symptoms you are describing and had benign cysts. You should check out the health pages (top right) and look at the listing for types of cysts and symptoms.
Avatar n tn Keep going to Dr's until you find answers........... I knew something was wrong but the Dr kept sending me to GI docs saying I had IBS. I never felt right and then I finally got answers. I had severe Endo and ovarian cysts. Endo can cause most all of your symptoms. I don't have any experience w/hair loss. I hope you feel better, I understand how frustrating it is!
Avatar f tn Do ovarian cyst symptoms and ovarian cancer symptoms look the same? I ask because I have the following: -gas -bloat/distended stomach -pressure -changes in BM's (constipation and diarrhea) -get full easily after eating -tired/fatigues -heartburn/indigestion -changes in menstruation Thank you.
Avatar f tn Do you know why you have this? Some things you may want to try are an elimination diet to see if certain foods are bothering you, a gluten free diet (ask your doctor to test you for this before you change your diet), digestive enzymes (health store), ask for a SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth) test or try eliminating carbohydrates for a short period to see if you feel better) and be checked to ensure you don't have ovarian cysts. Good luck.
Avatar f tn I am 27 years old and just recently I was diagnosed of having bilateral ovarian cysts. It was detected when my doctor recommends for a whole abdominal ultrasound. I had sharp pain in the morning and was relieved with fart or poo. I may recur during the day but was persistent in two weeks. My doctor suspected for gastrointestinal problem since I also had gas problems. I was not relieved with the prescribed medicine thats why an ultrasound was done.
Avatar n tn How, exactly, does ovarian cancer cause bloating (intestinal distention) and indigestion? I've read that these can be symptoms, but I'm not sure how ovarian cancer can cause them. Can you explain this for me? Thanks!
Avatar n tn I dont have alot of pelvic pain but back pain comes and goes . It seems to give me alot of gas a I get tired easily. I had a c125 blood test which came back normal but they also did a ca19-9 that came back high. Today I went for a ct scan and should know more in a couple of day's . Is all of this normal with a cysts. I never had one before. Just wondering.
Avatar f tn I understand why she would be so worried, but plenty of women get cysts and go on to have healthy children. Even women with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome can conceive. Cysts are mostly benign, especially in young women. They rarely turn out to be cancerous and they can either be monitored for a few weeks to see if they can go away on their own or with the help of birth control pills (or other meds) or they can be surgically removed, depending on the size of the cystic mass.
Avatar n tn I agree with Cindy that it is very unlikely to be Ovarian Cancer. However, young girls do get cysts. Actually cysts are very very common in young premenopausal women and 95 % benign. You may want to check the top right of this page; "Health Pages" . It has a lot of information about cysts . Of course we don't know if she even has cysts. And.. we're not Drs. here.. She really needs to be seen my by a Gyn. It could be one of many things.
Avatar n tn Ultimately if you have a persistent or growing ovarian cyst and have pain and discomfit, you should ask your doctor about whether a diagnostic laparoscopy is appropriate to consider.
Avatar f tn My symptoms are what is bothersome, spotting between periods, pressure in abdomen and pelvis, short of breath, abdominal discomfort and feeling bloated, nausea and sometimes loss of appetite, hard time losing weight, feel full all over when I wake up and excessive gas. I have read symptoms of ovarian cancer and of course it seems I have pretty much all of them so now I flashback to that unexpected pregnancy result last year thinking was I really pregnant or God forbid it's ovarian cancer!!
Avatar f tn I have severe endometriosis. After 6months, july 2011, i had another 1 which is hysterectomy and removal again of ovarian cysts. They left both ovaries bec of the issue of early menopausal. Oct 2011, my cysts came back(endometrioma). My dr put me on birth control pill which didnt work with me. About ur question abt what to eat post op? If u will be having explore/lap, as soon as u passed gas, u will be able to eat. If no passing of gas yet, u will be on clear liquids(broth, jello).
Avatar f tn Anyway, I have been bloating severely off and on, but more on than off!! I also noticed that I cannot make a bowel movement or pass gas that great as I have been able to before because when I do I have pressure. I am believing this is caused from my cyst? Did any of you experience this as well? I actually have more problems with bloating than I do pain...is that normal too? Not sure what actions are going to be taken, but I will find out when I see my ob-gyn..
Avatar f tn says not to worry about my ovarian cyst on my remaining left ovary that she thinks is NOT a chocolate cyst, though the u/s tech (who has been a u/s tech for 15 yrs. and showed me the cyst and other funtional clear cysts-you could see the difference easily! and I have had a choc. cyst before that ruptured, needing emergency surgery-2 pints of blood ended up in my abdomen). The ER Dr. also concurred it is a choc. cyst and said I needed immediate surgery to remover the ovary. NONNEGOTIABLE.
Avatar n tn Ovarian cysts can also cause an excess of gas. If adjusting your diet as above does not help you might want to check that out. Other symptoms might include bloating, abdominal pain, sciatica like pain, breast pain, back pain, weight gain, urinary urgency or period timing issues.
Avatar f tn I have a family history of breast, colon and ovarian cancer, so this is a risk reducing surgery. Removal of tubes and ovaries reduces my risk for ovarian cancer by more than 90%.
Avatar f tn Is this a typical symptom with ORS and ovarian cysts? Also, I am in the military. They mis-diagnosed my cervical stenosis for over 9 months and finally rushed me into emergency surgery when a civilian doc looked at me for 2 seconds. When I went to the ER this last time I was told they couldn't figure out what was wrong and maybe it would just go away. I then went back a week later with my stomach distended twice it's normal size. I was told that it was all in my head.
Avatar n tn t locate the strings to my IUD, so she ordered an ultrasound to make sure it was still in place. Thankfully, it was. But, during this ultrasound she found 2 ovarian cysts, one simple, one complex. I was advised to come back in 3 months for follow up. I went back in, and the left ovarian cyst had resolved, but the simple one on the right side had grown to 5cm. The doctor said "no big deal" and wants me to come back in February for my annual exam.
