Avatar f tn I do have some rather severe health problems which limit the type of exercising I do however I absolutely love water aerobics and it is very easy on my body and joints. I.have degenerative disc disease and osteoarthritis which makes it nearly impossible to run or even jog. Right now I can't seem to work a membership to a gym with access to a pool. Have any of you had good results with yoga or Pilate's? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all in.advance.
Avatar n tn As your skill builds, the added poses become increasingly challenging in different ways, which makes yoga an exercise routine that grows with you. Another basic yoga concept is that everyone is on his or her own path, progressing at his or her own pace. So leave behind the competitive spirit or fear that you’re not as good as others. Be sure to let your instructor know you have arthritis so he or she can help adapt the poses to match your personal physical limits.
Avatar f tn I have had mild osteoarthritis in my right hand, of and on. Now I have knee pain, both knees, elbow pain, foot pain (orthotics (4 diff pairs) haven't helped). Not severe enough to take meds. Have been sleeping on a magnetic mat for 3 years. Doesn't seem to help. Have been going to osteopath, masseur, acupuncturist, nutritionist (treating inflammation). No real relief. Other issue (related?) is poor blood circulation (circulatory disorder). Not overweight (120lbs at 5'4.

You can walk, hike, bike, do low impact aerobic exercise, yoga (carefully - certain positions you'll want to avoid), tai chi, swim, light weight training, etc. You'll probably be told not to lift anything heavier than 20 or 30 pounds, and to be careful to avoid falls. After my hip surgeries, I think my toughest task was to remember not to cross my legs at the knee.
Avatar f tn With her present condition and history of asthma, thyroid issues as well as osteoarthritis, benefits of taking the injection may outweigh the risks. Avatar f tn I'm 71 years old, normal weight, fairly healthy, other than osteoarthritis in both knees and have Reynauds Syndrome. Had a lumpectomy Nov 11. Low to intermediate grade DCIS. No Comedo Necrosis. 1.5 cm. Negative margins. The radiologist recommended... no radiation, just keep up mammograms. The oncologist wants me to take Femara for 5 years. From what I read Femara causes many problems in a lot of people that take it. I already have osteoarthritis.

Avatar n tn I am 45, female. About 3 weeks ago I started havinbg intense 'deep" pain in my right shoulder - my rotator cuff, I believe. It was very painful at times. It would ease up, I'd do light yoga, it would hurt again. Now I am experiencing pins and needles - not nu bness but more the prickling of pins and needles - in my right hand. Usually it comes when i have my right arm outstretched - about to take something off a shelf, reaching forward to a keyboard... What's going on?
Avatar m tn Most of it is caused by car accidents and the resulting Osteoarthritis that came on after quite some time. I have been on Norco/Lortabs for four years, but my doctor very recently retired. I cannot find another doctor who will give me anywhere near the quantities my previous doctor did. I don't know where to buy it off the street, so I am considering methadone for pain relief. Does anyone know if this will work? Thanks for any help you can provide.

It is also used in preparation for meditation, and in asana, the practice of postures, to help maximize the benefits of the practice, and focus the mind. Below are several of the most commonly used forms of pranayama.
1508881 tn?1313114901 I'm a 27 year old female who has been diagnosed with osteoarthritis in my spine (as well as hernaited disks, DDD and stenosis). The problem is the joint pain is moving to my knees, started at right but now it's in the left, and hands. My hands hurt bad when I do dishes, brush my hair and write. Basically anything where I have to grip things. I always thought I had carpel tunnel but now all my finger joints just ache. The arches of my feet have also started to hurt.

5902149 tn?1376877360 So I have dealt with my hip over the last six months. It is mainly an achy pain but it can feel like a crunch, which sounds like a loud crack, and its only gotten worse. Its really stiff and I've really noticed while I've done my yoga. It's particularly stiff in the morning as I get out of bed. On top of all that it tends to get out a bit during shopping or long walks... so frustrating. The issue is, I'm 22 years old and I don't remember doing anything to it in particular.

Avatar n tn I am afraid that I have developed osteoarthritis in my hands, esp. in the thumb joint. I experience pain up to 5 on 1/10 scale, but not swelling. After I ride my bike my hands hurt for several days, maybe the handlebar is too big around. The symptoms developed shortly after I broke my wrist (Collies fracture) two years ago. I realize that if I have this problem it isn't going away. How do I keep the damage to a miminim? I use Ibuprofen for pain with fair results.
